Farfetched

What is our reality really
Or the conception of time
They are generally made up
From ideas in man's mind

We all go by a clock
Hands tick past the hours
We wake up each morning
Alarms it gets louder

To understand life's existence
Is it an imagination fragment
Who is one to say it's real
Scary to think I admit

Before anything's ever understood
It's all guesses and theories
They perform their experiments
Fail and repeat the series

For what they can't explain
They take what makes sense most
They say that must be the answer
Your the guests, we are the host

Farfetched ideas and questions
The ability of man to have thoughts
It's extraordinary to think about
Complex don't want to get lost

But what if we were really
The small fish in the ocean
We were the lab rats running
What a farfetched notion

To think we are the number one
Species on this blue planet
Maybe hidden deep under our seas
Aliens that had previously landed

Watching our every move we make
Giving us help here and there
Observing us creatures of habit
With eyes that see everywhere

Or simply what if I told you
Life's nothing but a lucid dream
None is actually happening or real
But made up like a movie scene

To be played before your eyes
Tricking the brain to believe what it sees
Feeding you events and scenarios
Making you feel it's your reality

The way the human brain works
Will never be fully understood
Maybe it holds more power
To unlock that I wish I could

To tap the minds true worth
Of what the human brain is capable
Be an amazing accomplishment
Therefore could never be replaceable

I made you stop and think
Are we aware of our capabilities
But maybe it's easier to accept
That more can't be a possibility

But all in all what do I know
This is all nonsense crazy talk
From a man with too much time
But to ponder farfetched thoughts
