Man Erects Statue of Himself

Man Erects Statue of Himself

By Elton Camp

In front of his own house it’s placed
No public park has been disgraced

Some seem to think it odd or funny
But he’s spending his own money

But if public funds he had used
He could then rightly be accused

But as it is, as far as I can see
Nobody else’s business can it be

There are many who like to criticize
Finding it somehow wrong in their eyes

In fact, I just think I might do the same
As bronze testimony to my good name

Passers-by will see it standing there
If they don’t like it, what do I care!
