As Survivors Dwindle To a Precious Few

Blackened potato
            rock-hard tomato
          Piece of stale bread
            filthy mattress, a bed

          All luxuries at Auschwitz 
            Bergen-Belsen and Dachau
          The question is not why they
            survived ~ but How
