Afraid of goodbye

Chained to the wall with a necklace of silver Hung out to dry on the first rainy day Push comes to shove, it's been waiting forever Here at the end, I've got something to say Where did you go, when the sun painted April Leaving behind, every kiss you had blown Feeling the squeeze and it felt, quite amazing Night after night as I lie there alone Singing like Pink, in a female impression Wondering why every song sounds the same I like the words, matters not what they're meaning Duets dissolve, though she is not to blame Soaring the skies that were awkward, but friendly Hiding the truth in a small cardboard pack Now it does come, many years past the deadline Oh how I wish it was time to go back Yet here we are, like two peas in a salad So hard to see, being tossed in the crowd Smiling inside, while the other is reading Silencing thoughts that were once said out loud Still, it's too late, though the memories linger Now I can live, when it's my turn to die Dreams have come true, better late, well, than never Saying hello, still afraid of goodbye
