Dream Weaver

I’ve died many times over. Every night when I lay down my weary self to rest, my consciousness is extinguished. I experience nothing until I wake up inside my sleeping body—in dreams disconnected from ‘reality’ and the external world. Consciousness resurfaces in the morning upon my return to the wakening world.

At some point each day, each of us slips beneath the pillow’s spell and drifts into a heavenly state. We temporarily lose control of our conscious mind and become timeless, ageless, and boundless. We become dream weavers creating dreams with their hidden language and symbolic metaphors. In our dreams, our subconscious allows us to process the day and reflect upon it. Sometimes we embrace our hidden, dormant fears and unfulfilled passions. Sometimes we even find the secrets of our soul.

Do you have recurring dreams? I do. Psychologists say that recurring dreams can tell us about our unresolved issues, emotional baggage, and internal conflicts as well as a whole range of emotions.

In one of my recurring dreams, I’m Don Quixote wearing a suit of armor unsuccessfully fighting my own windmills. In another, I’m watching a violent storm when a tornado suddenly emerges from the clouds. I’m surrounded by chaotic flying objects and high winds that tear through my neighborhood. I manage to escape the chaos, turmoil, and destruction but awaken out of breath with adrenaline coursing through my veins.

I ponder...what is the meaning behind the dreams I weave. Would my subconscious tales be telling me?
