Consigned To Dreams
Our conceit overrides our shame;
endangered species are dying.
And refusing to accept blame,
Man denies His lack of trying.
Vast migrating herds have been culled,
their deaths justified to make room.
And those numbers are unequaled,
due to the population boom.
Small countries with limited space;
burns forests so cattle can feed.
And spreading at a frantic pace;
enormous profits, finance greed.
Zoos are a fruitless endeavor;
yet it doesn't matter much, it seems.
For once lost, life's lost forever;
and Nature gets consigned to dreams.
With Man's use of the ax and gun;
Death is steadily encroaching.
And insane wars that can't be won
ensure His end's fast approaching.
