A Viking's Void

"This is ours! All you can see."
A Scandinavian fleet crashing on the waters
Apprehensive on bringing him closer
"By first light, I'll have vanished into the mist"
"The jarl will have your heart."
Even the biting cold cannot dishearten one's want
Distant echoes of howls
Towards the guiding glow, heart pounds
Not in fear of hunters
But for protectiveness of his beloved
Storms cry, "I am close"
"Lower the stone! There's a nithing among us!"
The makeshift flames uncover his longing
Freya nodded her trust in him unwavering
She pressed a kiss to his brow
"If I do not return, head north,"
Her voice barely a whisper
Wrapped in furs, his calloused hand softens
"I believe in you."
"He must be close, it shall be a pleasure to have the last blow."
Back into the wind, he shall face his only problem
head-on
A standoff
"Are you familiar with the punishment for a svikari?"
"Allfather, allow me to usher the new"
With each swing, he cuts through the ranks of his foes
All too much, the blinded are a greater few
"Leave him to die"
Under the stars
Entering the void, visions of voyage, the raiding, trading, conquest, the mapping
Driven by power
"Take me, Allfather, for I am not worthy"
Accepted
Blood-coated snow dances in the wind
Her voice carried on the breeze
"Come to me, my love"
His eyes open
