Afterglow
Afterglow
When soon I quit this mundane scene
I `d wish to leave, unknown, unseen
Unadorned, without embellish
Without tears on eyes that cherish
Without sigh from those near and dear
Without any ripple of fear,
But serene like the afterglow
Of the sun setting with the show
Of an arch of pinkish sunlight
In the twilight sky of delight
With the air devoid of tension
In the clean distant horizon.
I `d wish the afterglow to spread
Amidst prairies where lies my shed
Amidst the playground of my youth
Where once was erected a booth
Amidst fields where I strolled alone
Along alleys lilacs are grown
Along the silent serene shore
At twilight I ambled before.
I`d wish the afterglow to shine
In midst of chants that are divine
Sober music flowing apace
Sincere smiles on friendly faces
With recall of life together
As a comrade, as a brother
During the sweet summer sunshine
As in wild winds of winter time.
