Unwanted

In shadows cast by sorrow's shroud,
There dwells a girl, her voice not loud,
Unwanted whispers fill her mind,
By kin, by friend, by spouse unkind.

Alone she walks through halls of pain,
In solitude, her tears like rain,
The echoes of her silent plea,
Lost in the void, no one to see.

Family, once a beacon bright,
Now casts her out into the night,
Their laughter, like a cruel refrain,
Mocking her with every strain.

Friends who promised to be true,
Fade away like morning dew,
Their absence cuts her to the core,
Leaving her heartache to explore.

And then there's him, her lover cold,
Whose words of love have turned to mold,
His touch, once warm, now icy chill,
Leaving her soul to wither still.

Isolation wraps around her tight,
A cloak of darkness, endless night,
Loneliness, her constant friend,
A companion that will never end.

Depression grips her fragile soul,
A gaping wound that takes its toll,
Her self-hate like a poison vine,
Entwining her until she's mine.

She looks into the mirror's gaze,
And sees a girl lost in the maze,
A stranger with hollow eyes,
Haunted by her own demise.

No light can pierce this veil of woe,
No solace in the winds that blow,
For she is trapped within her mind,
A prisoner of her own design.

No happy endings here to find,
Just emptiness of a shattered mind,
In darkness, she will always dwell,
A broken soul, a living hell.

So let her be a cautionary tale,
Of love that's lost and dreams that fail,
For in the end, we're all alone,
In the darkness, we call our own.
