Schizophrenia: A Collaboration with Myself

When I was one and twenty
a moral with a twist ...

They say I am the key
that will unlock the cell
yet how can I get free
for I'm wrapped so well

Don't wrap me or cell me
just give me what THEY want

At first, they say they want to heal me
later, synonymous with 'heel' was fetching
rather, they wanted to fix me like some 'thing'
I was a bone to pick
A puzzle to be taken apart
I own lost and found
I am finders losers
weepers keepers
I am crammed
in a vacant space
I can't catch
my breath
Whenever I speak
I'm lost in translation
So here I am
amongst many unknowns
and vultures who'd pick my bones
the flower uprooted from weeds

Doctors say I'm strange
yet they study me
... I find that strange

I say I hear and see things
they say it's all in my head
... where else would it be

I passed all their test
reasons I am kept here

They say that I do not give the wrong answers
... just the correct mistakes

They go fishing
in a fishbowl

I am the hunted inferno
Day and night
they say when I might
on a marked calendar on a wall
... what calendar
I am ... that we are
A lamb in want of lost
Like the sounds of rubbing reeds
I am the silent one
I am a sailboat that arrives
at doldrums subtle current ends
A river does not rise for pleasure ...
nor does a drowning soul
Sometimes I just want to clam up
but they will not let me
... neither will them

I am a pearl
they lust ...
like a diamond
and rust.
