Because They Be Quiet
When you are in a ship in the sea,
You can see God's wonders in the deep,
For He commands and raises the storm,
which lifts the waves in its windy sweep,
The ship is tossed as high as the sky,
and falls low to the depths of the sea,
The sailors, not knowing what to do,
reel to and fro like a drunk tipsy,
Then they cry to the Lord in distress,
and He brings them out of their troubles,
He makes the storm a calm, waves are still,
When the waters quiet, joy bubbles,
He brings them to their desired haven,
In the silent stillness, men praise Him
for His goodness, for His wondrous works,
for He saved them from turbulence grim,
"Then they're glad because they be quiet"
What a miracle they have witnessed!
The Lord of the heavens and the seas
has stretched forth His hand and we are blessed!
