Hermit's Bathtub

Late summer, lying on warm rocks.
Glittering mica, tiny garnets the magic of a moment.
As we jump into frigid water.

Shivering, cooled to the core by the icy sea,
Lying again in the sun on the warm sparkling stone
Wrapped in towels until the shivers stop.

What was left? Joy at jumping into life, exhilaration.
Adventure, experience. The coolness stayed
With us throughout the day, keeping us warm.
