Backpackers

Long lines
of childhood
are over. The
mould is cold
as stone, the
damage is done.

Now it is time to
pack the back
and disappear.
Let the search
begin. Fall freely
into the abyss,
learn to trust
the wind, test
yourself in the
waves, swim
in the undertow.
Get physical,
give and take
emotional pain,
write, speak,
listen, digest.
Confront your
enemies, especially
yourself. Wait
for clear signs
to show you the
way, be patient.
Get fit, prepare
for war. Find one
(or more) soulmates,
become a parent,
learn to give, work
hard and save.

Dwindling lines
of adulthood
are almost over.
The body of work
is drained, the
damage is done.

Pack your back
again and repeat
all of the above.
