On the edge of November sighs
the end of October steps aside,
the roses no longer in bloom
as they did in the warmth of June;
come the winter of our descent
into timeless age well spent
as memories overtake our souls and hearts
remembering what drew us close then set us apart;
Slip away old grudges and gilded mistakes purveyed
forget the sin and errors once made
return to love, acceptance for the asking
of reunions and reconnections unmasking
the illusions long ago of right and wrong decisions
when time slips into retrograde.

She always considered herself
to be a good housewife
Took care of all the necessary things
in her husband and children's life
But in the kitchen, she really took pride
in being the savings queen
She purveyed every telly commercial,
online promos, coupons in the pages
of newspapers and magazines
She was taught as a child
that riches has wings
So it was better to have more money coming in,
than money leaving
Clip and save,
cut and paste
Take advantage of the bargains,
leave nothing to waste
Calculate,
add it all up
Check the expiration date,
then put it in the savings cup
She was as good as it get,
she was certified as being the best
So many housekeeping awards
stuffed in her dusty attic chest
And the money you let fly away,
she had a coupon waiting to catch it,
and save for use on a rainy day

The ice was etched in perfect form
Snow like a gossamer gown
That had yet to be worn
Sky carved from an ebony block so true
Scattered diamonds making deep blue
Held within the visions glow
No matter that it was Ice and snow
A love that has always been
Our warmth purveyed this scene
For all time the grass would be green
The only thing that love could do
Was to create perfection for us two
To look in wonder lost in time
The moment stored deep within the mind
Here an eternity time left behind
Etched forever in those vast spaces
As with this and many places
It mattered not that no one shared
That it was, us, no matter who cared
I was here with you.

It began in the innocent spring of life
This of which, never did share
Spent summer of youth
… One in blanket gaze
While, she of long reaching, __ mystic stare
Now stirs autumn winds
Whispers of twice-cried tears
Two stories tell, each welling deep
The chambered nautilus of harbored fear
Maybe forever, shared song of winter’s discontent
Yet strings play on
As purveyed souls, soon greet seasons, never meant

It was the innocent spring of life, of which, never shared
Spent summer youth in blanket gaze or in mystic stare
Now the autumn winds, whisper of twice cried tears
Of two stories told, each welling deep, the worst of harbored fear
Maybe forever, two winters of discontent
But still yet, a band plays on
Purveyed are souls
Seasons will pass, never meant
