I suffocated , air grasped from my lungs
My heart sang for you
My mind protested and my melody seemed to be fading
But I waited for you
Finally like it had just be proselytized
My mind sang the same tune as my heart
And all was a smooth, sound river flow
A river flow like my tears when I had convinced myself that it was different
That your heart no longer beats the same way for me
Like when it felt like you did an introspection
And realized you picked the wrong gemstone
That I was no longer the apple of your eye
But a forbidden fruit from the Garden of Eden
Still I waited for you
For the mere thought of you
Or the mention of your name
Forced my adrenal gland to secrete adrenaline
And my heartbeat increased threatening to rip my Sino atrial node
Betrayed by my hypothalamus failing to cooperate with my cerebrum
I waited for you, I did
And I know for sure that when you go into hiding again
I’ll wait for you

MS. HATTIE: THE SOUL TOUCHER
Her kindness kindled the soul,
Her sense of dignity and brilliance
Permeated the classroom
Inciting logic and wit
That only a “thinker” could endure
She plunged forth in strident awe as though
Learning about God were all there was to life.
Her smile engulfed the hearts of her students
And evoked an intrigue for enlightenment.
O, the mystery of the Soul Toucher,
How well she proselytized us into believing
that all things were possible to the
“thinker” and the “doer”
She taught with providence
as she subtly glided about our gray matter,
uniting the hemispheres
so as to unite hearts
daring us to become
the sole proprietors of our destinies.
Sometimes to no avail
You struggle to be different
Like snowflakes you fall
Believe you are vindicated, distinct and exclusive
With innovative design and crystallized mind
Attempting to impress everyone with the hand you have
only we all have the same cards
Razor sharp edges and frosty images
We are slush after a too many Sunday afternoon
Deteriorated with a warped spinal column and a stone-washed mentality
Liquefied by last season's snow boots and plowed to the side most of the time
Human quality is overstated and overrated
the world is far too over populated
we are all the uniform
snowflake
with carbon bonds, hydrogen and oxygen
I doubt my DNA complexity is what makes my soul mine
We are all hypocrites, benevolence is only to benefit ourselves
When you come out of the cloud your eyes are misted and your judgment’s
twisted
With age it doesn't get better only you assume you grasp what you require
But really you've been programmed and proselytized until you do not know what
you desire
We come out with different intentions and modifications but I’ll see you in the end
Still that damned snowflake condemned
