I see I am almost 60
The river of life has sped by
Sweet accounts are needed
Thank God I remember the 60s
sane relics of the past
Kaftans and roll-ups
strain to the sounds
blonde this and that
Mini skirts and wobbly legs
I hear the wind calling
It wants an account of where I've been
Schooled in Croydon by Woodside
Polytechnic in the East End
Never used my Degree for its full effect
Should have been a contender
in the National Audit Office
Life goes by quickly
its a black board of unreason
It demands an answer

(Dedication:
For my wife Ann
On our birthday.)
~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you my dear
For lovely times,
For happy cheer,
For witty rhymes.
It's been so good
Through ups and downs,
Through journey moods,
Through smiles and frowns.
Our lovely spree
Brought us right here,
Brought what we see,
Brought lots to cheer.
Each dawn brings hope
Of faith that lives,
Of joy that scopes,
Of love that gives.
You give me more
Than words can say,
Than wealth can store,
Than night and day.
Since Poly days
You my true friend,
You forged fine ways,
You held my hand.
Forty-five years
Have brought fond grounds,
Have shaped our spheres,
Have come around.
So time tells lots
This warm Sunday,
This lovely spot,
This our birthday.
Thank you darling
For all this time,
For touch that springs,
For lavish chimes.
Cheers to you dear
As each day brings,
As love moves cheer,
As life now strings.
May all our days
Be filled with truth,
Be joy that stays,
Be as grace proofs.
