Such a beautiful sunny day so we went out for a drive
We walked on a springy pink and purple heather carpet
then foraged on the hedgerows bursting with bilberries
whilst butterflies danced and swallows swept through the air
Our pedometers showed our steps as we climbed the steep hill to the car
Soon it was time to wend our way down the windy road home to our village …
We’ve done this drive a thousand times before
Suddenly a white car shot out from a driveway right in our path
My hubby took evasive action so as not to crunch into the back of her car
Whilst I muttered something totally unprintable under my breath!
The old biddy continued on her way, she was totally oblivious to our presence!
Was she distracted by her mobile phone
or was her mind in a total fog
But next time you get in the car my dear…
give the wheel to your trusty guide dog!
A true story of our morning
