When you’re anxious ‘bout something,
Just give it a crack
And you might end up earning
A pat on the back.
For nerves can wreak havoc
And fill you with doubt
So you think you’ll be stuck
With no easy way out.
It’s much safer to cancel
Or stop ‘fore you start
If your fear of disaster
May tear you apart.
But if you can breathe deeply
And step up and try,
Things might just work out well
And you’ll feel such a high
That you’ll wonder why you
Gave yourself so much flak
When what you now deserve
Is a pat on the back.
I spotted a feather by the sea
I watched as it fell from the sky in front of me
It seemed like a feather from an angels space
I saw it fall with so much grace
It was lifted with the wind and gently settled
on a human back
It travelled far and wide, as I soon lost track
Its touch was soft and an encouraging thing
A pat of a feather from an angels wing
It could have stayed longer but had a lot
of work to do
And from then on never settled on the ground
It calmed and soothed without a sound
From back to back it moved around.

A Pat on the Back
St Patrick was a humble man, a Christian staunch and bold
He went to Ireland age sixteen whom Irish raiders stole
To slave as herdsman six long years with christian faith new found
Then in a dream told to return back to his Brit home ground
Again he met with troubled times before he saw his folks
Then after went to other lands and even wrote two works
Confessio about his faith. In Latin it was written
His mail to Corrotitus slammed Irish persecution
Again he had another dream and in it saw a missive
The heading ‘Voice of the Irish’ made Pat see his mission
So back to Ireland one more time to make the dream come real
To confirm, baptize and convert all with a renewed zeal
His works were performed without any pride
And he gave his gifts gladly to all those around
Not one he received and that was his wish
But he lived in fear of a martyrdom death
March seventeenth is reserved for Pat’s glory
The shamrock a symbol of the Trinity Holy
From bishop to saint, his status promoted
Snakes in Ireland? Just a tradition instated
Pat on the back makes someone eased,
Filling the heart with joy or pride;
It makes one feel so excited,
Setting all of his fears aside.
Negative thoughts are thrown away,
Bringing them all to oblivion;
Exulting in sheer happiness,
He has leaped for satisfaction.
Discarded doubts are left behind,
Never will they remain on track;
Real confidence will truly boost
Because of the pat on the back.
