Premium MemberWho Am I

Within this worn body brittle and old
Thrives youth, hate, love, sorrow, and passions bold
Date of birth, Jobs, Paygrade, single, Married?
All they ask now is cremated. Buried?
As my sunset hours I can clearly see
I will darn well be who I want to be!
I no longer care who you think I am
Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn!
So, who am I now? I defy all labels
I might be the sly fox in Aesop’s Fables
Or a poet—Keats, Byron, Neruda?
Maybe I’ll be a love-struck barracuda
I’m a classic novel that has no equal
Wait a while for the thrilling sequel

Premium MemberA Relic

It sits, unwavering, on my desk
  a relic from a by-gone era
Lowest of low tech
  its on/off chain unobtrusive

Classic lines, bronze weight
  solid as King Arthur's fortress
My initials traced in its dust
  Lights up my nights
    ~ Lets me write

Premium MemberOld Tige My Dog

Army service done, I was heading home
My Ma and friends I'd missed and Tige my dog
Served my three years never again I'd roam
I got off the bus, there was a dense fog.

And lying there was Tige my canine friend
Tige led the way, I started to follow
Strange way he went turning left at the bend
A dam was being built, I did not know.

I reached home, Ma was rocking in her chair
Said she'd wrote me about how Tige had died
Her words shocked me all I could do was stare
But I'd just seen him, Ma wouldn't have lied.

Safe route had gone but Tige had led the way
She said Tige had died three years to the day

Inspired by 'Gentleman ' Jim Reeves classic song 'Old Tige'

Premium MemberPublic Entertainers

Classic rock bands and hilarious comedians all use to entertain me,
but now when they perform ancient relics are all I see.
If you're an old time singer or comic celebrity
here's some advice from yours truly.
Continue releasing your records but don't make appearances publicly
because you've all gotten old and if the truth be told it depresses the hell out of me.
It sure is a drag this thing we call mortality.
