"I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean."
from the song "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack
When I first saw the ocean as a child,
I was in awe of its waves, both mild
and wild, crashing onto the shore
as I waded through warm sand.
Still, its massive presence
renders me breathless
decades later.
I long to
be there
now.
mesmerizing
the playful glitter
of ondulating waves
the sun beckons
come and play ~
there may not be another day

I am Buddha...
w a l l o w i n g
in the refreshing stillness,
A lone swan
smoothly gliding
in the stream of present time.
Everything slows
to a snail pace;
With my mind
in repose,
i think not
of tomorrow,
or of yesterday.
I plumb the depths
of myself,
perfectly centering
in the now.
I l o o k
around life,
sniffing air
like a sandalwood fragrance.
I marvel at
the beauty of nature.
I am peace...
like a dove
seizing precious moments
as tight as
a hangman's noose.
I treasure them all
before the world
gets moving again.
I i n h a l e
my piece of mind
like a soft, healing zephyr.
I live gloriously free
in the present,
blissfully grateful
to God
for all that I have,
for waking
yet another day.
And for my breath....

xanthic daffodils
swaying in the zephyr breeze ~
blackbirds build new nests
The woods the sun
The crisp air
You, me, the space
we share
A feeling of freedom and
belonging
Nature
Everlasting
Beauty
We
daffodils thrust
themselves through
winter's cold soil
again
first day of spring~
sunrise and the violet
of your eyes
myriad colors
in ranks and rows
at the greenhouse
new garden
seed is sown
now we wait
A dusty box of memories hidden in a little room
Of all the dust consuming yesterdays
I peered in to take a look
I found of lifetime of treasures
In a book of tattered pages and forgotten dreams
I opened it and read a poem
It revealed a cold Winter day
With snow Falling endless
Little kids outside at play
An elderly women sat dreaming
Of all her youthful days
She remembered the old red barn
That sat on a bluff
A place she once picked wild daisies
And dreamt of endless love
She wrote all the words
She could never say
Dreaming she could deliver her note
To a man she longed to meet
The poem ended abruptly
As if it was her last day
With a few words written at the bottom
She had one last thing to say
"Be daring my precious child
Cease each moment and run free
I am gone for now, but,
We'll meet again some Summer day
Once,
I saw rainbows,
across the tear washed sky.
Their iridescent gleam
illumining the astral realm
and spilling down into the waters below.
Buds burgeoning on every branch,
Flowers opening their delicate folds,
and summer bees spiraling around,
gathering nectar for frosty days.
Saw radiant smiles gleaming past,
angelic babes’ innocent face,
Men toiling from dawn to dusk
going about their lives’ odyssey,
Speeding vehicles moving down
as ants, in an unbroken chain,
Nature, posing from time to time
in silken green, amber gold
and in dazzling white
Everything fleeted past,
as through the window
of a speeding train.
Neither did they linger long
nor were they daubed bright
in paints variegated,
on my mind's impressionable canvas
to call them back to mind at will.
I lived my life in acute haste.
Colors, shades and myriad scenes
passed me by as common sight
But now with a heavy mist blocking out my sight
and an inexorable darkness
covering me like a shroud,
plunging me, all of a sudden, into a perpetual night
where sun beams never again shall fall,
I realize with a jolt, how much I have missed
and how much more I will miss!
Then, the skies were blue and white
And the sun's ray brought pure light
Now the skies are dark and gray
And black shadows cap the day
Then, the mountains were all green
There were waters in between
Now, the mountains are all brown
Though, the high gods hold their crown
Then, the oceans were all blue
And the rivers' shine were true
Now, the oceans are all dark
And the rivers got no spark
Then, the air we breath was pure
Sunlight bathing were all sure
Now, we hardly breath in smoke
And the ozone's ply was broke
Regardless of what the calendar says, for me, Spring is here when the Bradford Pear trees start to bloom...
Glad now winter's gone
Bradford Pear greets each new day
Gaily dressed for spring
My joy surrounds me with character
beauty essence I bow to the on lookers
I dance to the sweetest sound all over town
of lovely joyous Caribbean tunes melody
opens my eyes just one more time mon
for old time sakes erasing 1984 I don't dare
remember buildings burning screams wails
sirens panting being badgered breathing in
this wondrous earth free from identity theft
hatred forgiveness evolving my nature capturing
my senses I'm blessed to be me no one
could ever become this brilliant queen
covered in chiffon and lace torment
dissolved by gods wrath upon all those
willing to bring harm my way above a whisper
I seek solace moving about this world
a new existence a new creature
incorruptible by 1984 wingtip bathe
in my identity criminal groups marvel
through the smell of my perfume I am
comforted by the holy spirit camels
carry my sparkling rose' my presence
devours all manhood I am beautiful
then you rushed into the leafy courtyard late
like you’d just been thrown in by some hand
but we hadn’t actually arranged it yet
I knew immediately the timeline was
malfunctioning, still, I went with it anyway
for old time sake and the yesterdays to come
blonde child-like adult
standing apple orchard
surrounded by life
just like beginning
alone in garden with Adam
tempted by apple
shaking apple tree
it's bounty falls to the ground
it's goodness is reaped
unlike the story
Eve's apple leads to evil
mine are in good faith

The Shape of Trees Now Past Prime
The shape of trees now past prime,
Bent by the wind, have lost their green.
Grotesque forms, gnarled and withered,
Wildly express senescence.
Along shores, disfigurements lean,
In summer’s heat and winter’s freeze.
Sucker shoots sprout up from roots,
Desperately grasping for life.
Playful tease as in sleight of hand
Where waves beckon, “Come explore the land.”
The trees bend as age quells support
From impaired health and dying will.
Now, I began
to close my eyes
In a moment now,
all will be blank.
And you'll began also
to untie your dress.
This night will be
ours to keep alright.
Now, I began to open
the close in that moment
Now, all will be crank,
the will power to this hunk.
You start to cry for help
you see, the light is open
I'm no longer be free.
At that moment,
we're in touch.
You're like a rose
and I'm the thorn.
To make that garden
so nice to the bees.
Now, we began to grow,
to bloom freely
Though, its fragrance
doesn't good to the bugs.
As long as we keep
in touch for each other
For love conquers us all.
