Norah Poems | Examples

Those Summer Nights

You know, I think Norah Jones
might sit on my shoulder sometimes.
The lady with the simplest songs, whispers genie melodies.
and she tunes decisions-
my childhood.
And these seven year summer nights are different
when I know she is there
keeping a soft beat to existence in summer.

Life Study

norah jones
writhes and moans
while making love

then quickly dresses
because time presses
there

in her other life
as mother and wife
where

husband ted
breaks wind in bed
after sex

as she lies still
to his will
and thinks of this

every hour counted
until next mounted
and loved

Premium Member Simple Simon

My one true love was Simon,
Simple, they called him,
But one day he went to the faire
And met Norah Pieman.

Oh, that girl was clever
She enticed Simon with her wares
And stole him plum away from me.

Now they live above the bakery,
Specializing in pies of every kind,

With bread and biscuits, too.

Premium Member Hairy Norah the Elephant

Hairy Nora reads the Torah from daybreak until dusk.
She’s got four different colored legs, but not a single tusk.
There’s a birdie sitting on her back that moves and sways like Elvis,
Her ears are crinkly when they’re pressed and there’s a mirror on her pelvis.
Now I’ve been almost everywhere on my old rusty bike,
But an elephant like Nora, I have never seen the like.

For Norah

You shiver my ora
With brightness that skins
your colors love
Excitement to write and fight
Betrayal and break ups
I never dream of might
You fiddle and blush my dimples
Shorten my nights
see the sun gaze upon your face
Like a maize runner
I always scotch in your eyes
Like a w
I always feel your love twice

Bed

Bed

Plump down on the bed,
My head, heavier than before,
Follows my body,
Contently onto the bed.

My arms spread like a crucifix,
A groan escapes my lungs,
the blood-red sheets,
crushed on my bed.

A final smile and I sit up,
Norah Jones sings of new York City,
She does it so beautifully,
on my bed.

Lullaby of the Lost

Favorite Songs and Lyrics Contest

“We were born before the wind”
Held by angels and given wings
  To fly this world ephemeral
  Every breath a miracle

“And oh, I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain”
Chased spectrums of the rainbows burst between
Held my arms around the thunder storms of lovers
Rode on river bends deep with loss and wonder

But still I’ve only ever found an aching that is you
In alpine meadows drenched with light inside the morning hue
And when the sloping sun sends golden kisses out to sea
I “shoot the moon and miss completely”

It seems I‘ve always drifted out or crashed and combed this life
A seeker gleaning meaning in the shadows left behind
Where night is sleeping softly round the lonely stars above
“Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?”

My Great Escape

Sittin' here, feelin' uneasy
Not at all sleepy
Sweet sounds of Norah Jones
Tickle my ear drums
I find refuge in the blues
This is not NEWS
to the people who love me
If this is a crime
Please, do cuff me

One Rhythm, One Rhyme
preps me for the climb
to the top of the world
Where I will find
Happiness in a swirl
of chocolate on the mind

Rhythm & Blues, Rock N' Roll
Stirred up in a big bowl
The recipe for the perfect Led Zeppelin
add Hip-Hop, Metal, and all the fixin’s
Then you have Linkin Park
Just Crawling, not quite Crawling in the Dark
I laugh, I love, I listen
To the bands that make me glisten

For dessert
Happiness in a swirl of
Chocolate on the mind
One Rhythm, One Rhyme
