Not a Monster: a Nightcrawler Poem

Not a Monster: A Nightcrawler Poem

I could hear their voices

Carrying pitchforks and torches

The light guiding them through the dark

Towards me, their target, their mark.

They called me a monster, a freak

Shouting at me throughout the streets

But I was the one on the run

Not the one holding a gun.

They soon surrounded me

Nowhere to hide, nowhere to flee

I wanted to disappear

But my thoughts were clouded by fear.

Their weapons were raised

Their torches ablaze

My body went slack

Then everything became black.

I awoke with a start

My hand over my racing heart

I was in the institute, lying in my bed

With so many thoughts running through my head:

“I’m not a monster, I’m not a freak

I am strong, and I fight for the weak

I may look like a demon, a monster from Hell

But down those depths are not where I dwell.”

Premium MemberHellfire Gala - the Bower

It's a place where love is abound
and mutant cuddling can be found

Oversized flowers function as pods
to 'make more mutants' is given the nod

Nightcrawler took offense more than maybe
even as he was shown a stock full of babies

Oh the pairings flowed like a shower
at this sweet place known as the Bower

Premium MemberBugs Beetles Nightcrawlers Too

Bugs, beetles, ants, spiders and nightcrawlers too
They sometimes get squashed on the end of my shoe
I found a baby gardener snake, said a city kid named Hue.
We wisely kept our counsel, knowing what to do.

The gardener snake was not a snake, but a worm so true.
A dried up nightcrawler that had dried up crispier than pooh.
We kept this quiet to ourselves, being full blood country blue.
To help Hue save a bit of face we all shrieked and said “ooh!’

Still Life With the Lorax

The Lorax is on top,
I wish it would stop.
All these bad and good memories,
of me and you.
The trees are all green,
and the water (like me) is blue.
The tree's tongues are tied,
and twisted,
searching for the place,
where the Lorax lifted.
If life give you lemons,
Well I guess you're blessed because,
Lemons raise the level of serotonin,
in the body,
The chemical responsible for making,
you happy.
I still feel crappy,
I squeezed a whole lemon into my water.
I'm still wondering how couples stay together,
when they barely have anything in common.
I'm still wondering like Tom Robbins in
Still Life with Woodpecker,
"How do you make love stay?"
And why does it go away?
I know I won't find out today.
I've got a thousand papercuts,
And the citric acid burns.
I'm fishing without worms,
Nightcrawler vision,
sinks inside my brain,
panic attacks,
and I can't stand the pain.
I wish I could turn back the hands of time,
but I can't,
so I'll trade one of my lemons,
for a lime,
cause I plan to drink this twelve pack,
of Corona with or without you,
I'm honestly trying not to feel blue.
