“Life's a gift, but sometimes sorrow
moves the path of our tomorrow."
                             _ by Poet

From happy to heartbroken, we've become,
without a thought, her life would take a turn.
Strange symptoms that were very worrisome,
with outcomes that took many months to learn.

It started with the hurt in her left arm
when moving it became a painful chore.
Then, day by day, this triggered an alarm,
as her left side became more stiff and sore.

A search for diagnosis was the goal.
It was not easy as her symptoms grew;
from sleeplessness and mental stress, her whole
demeanor, doing things, was changing, too.

With visits to physicians, days went by
for swings in blood pressure, her beating heart.
New doctors and neurologists would try
to diagnose these symptoms from the start.

In early June this year, the verdict came-
one which we feared, but hoped would not be true.
For then we knew she'd never be the same.
There was no cure; just medicine would do.

From happy to heartbroken, we've become.
Our daughter, early 60s- Lord help, please!
This outcome is now very worrisome.
She's diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

Premium MemberThe Shadowy Figure

A shadowy figure has visited thrice.
It's neither demonic, human nor a creature.
It has no form, no voice, no face
Nor has it any feature!

When it arrives tween sleep and awake
Where dreams and reality merge,
There's full body paralysis but a very active mind
A bolt of fright through me does surge!

Each time, it puts pressure on my chest
But stops suddenly pre suffocation.
Though it doesn't exist, its presence feels real.
Is it only my imagination?

This silent shadow turns the room cold.
It switches off inner fight or flight.
But the freeze mode sets right in
As this happened always in the dead of night.

I'm curious to know why it appears
During times of stress. What's its identity?
Does it know that neurologists call it
An aspect of Narcolepsy?

Premium Member- If -

If everything was different and life was a long-lasting dream
Are you curious about "civilization cradle" ... if
If you ask questions about things you do not understand
We write, interpret poems and thoughts with ... if
If you can free yourself from other people's opinions
Nevertheless, you can never know for sure
that the answer is right or wrong

Neurologists, general doctors, researchers
and brain surgeons admit
that they only know a little promille
of the brain's capacity
And if that's right,
then the word if appears terrifying

Everyone has their own way of seeing the world
If a horse had wings, would it be able to fly ?
The wing horse Pegasus is a commonly used symbol in poetry
If that was true; a horse with magical powers
One can hardly imagine a better vehicle,
if we think about environment and health
But only if ... we wake up from our dream
