Putty in your hands before you blink,

She's Nerdy She's Crazy

She’s nerdy. She’s crazy.
She’s nuts. She’s naïve.
I smile, listening.
Hoping it is me they are talking about.

Shh!
What’s the matter?
I think she’s IN THERE!
I scoot into my turned over refrigerator box.
And pull my giant owl pillow in front of the entrance.
Wanting them to continue.
Needing them to continue.

I hear footsteps.
I stop breathing.
“She’s odd, but likeable.”
New sharp voice. “WHO?”
