Morrigan Poems

Premium MemberIreland's Enigmatic Watchers

From shadowed glens, where legends sleep,
Three figures rise, secrets to keep.

The Morrigan, a raven's wing,
Drawn to the clash, the death-song sang.
Of war, of fate, a chilling hand,
To claim the fallen, rule the land.
She shifts and weaves, a queen of might,
Her sovereignty in the darkest night.

The Banshee wails, a mournful cry,
A prophecy beneath the sky.
For family's blood, a thread undone,
Her keening echoes, day is done.
A spirit bound to mortal ties,
Her sorrow paints the weeping skies.

The Pooka runs, a shifting shade,
A trickster's jest, a game is played.
A horse of ebony, swift and bold,
He leads astray, tales to be told.
A playful spirit, wild and free,
He dances on the edge of glee.

From ancient roots, their power springs,
The Morrigan, the Banshee, Pooka brings,
A touch of magic, old and deep,
Where shadows stir and secrets sleep.
Guardians of lore, through misty air,
Whispers of Ireland.

Raven: a Poem of Morality

With wings as black as night, what death holds sway
By powers strong and ancient, death’s favored creature
Spirits burst to song at the Morrigan’s passing
With dark song filling the air, tulips wilt turning bare
As they pass through the morning air
Bird of mourning wears death’s sting
Fear of dank, dark passage, ‘neath thine unholy wing
Cold and callous they now fly
Great Tsi Sgili eye, born of fear and nightmare, true and sure
Thirteen times it calls
Thine soul bids goodbye, heaven and hell ever near
Which are thee - shall thou persevere?

*1: The Morrigan are the three Celtic sister goddesses of battle, the earth, death, and destiny, their names are Morrigan, Badb, and Nemaine.

*2: Tsi Sgili is a Cherokee witch who has the power to kill with their mind, and the ability to feed off of death, according to google the name literally means owl witch.

Morrigan's Hounds

Be sure your deeds do not awaken,
The Morrigan and her hellhounds,
As then, your soul is forsaken!

So deep within conscious abyss,
Where the secrets of dreams reside,
Devoid of innocent remiss.

Avenging huntress comes alive,
With straining hounds that call the night
As she seeks who cannot survive.

Her eyes are watching from the gate,
And piercing through a moonless night,
She sees the souls poisoned with hate.

Retribution comes from her hand,
On hearts corrupted by the lies,
Keeping pure Avalon’s land!

The Morrigan

Ancient goddess, greatly feared
Maiden, Mother, and Crone all adhered
Independence, strength and fertility near
The Morrigan, The Morrigan

Through the dark and fog she treads
To the misty river's edge
To wash the clothes and the threads
Of those, not yet, but destined dead
The Morrigan, The Morrigan

With piercing fiery-angered cries
Over the battlefields she flies
Gathering skulls and hoisting them high
The Morrigan, The Morrigan

A Tale of My Sisters

With nimble imploring

Of a tale found quite pretentious,

I found:

My sisters, my comrades,

Obtained skills some found offensive.

They roamed the hills of Scotland,

Burdened with hope enough for nations,

And every time our Mother cried,

Witnessed imprudent brutalization.

Through lands both waste and riches,

Continued on:

A solemn pilgrimage;

Armed with only incantations,

And herbs:

A witch's privilege.

Morrigan has told my spirit

What Brigid tried to say,

Men without us are monsters,

But their minds are such as clay.

That is why we carry on

Our nomadic occupation,

Driven from villages as The Dragon dies,

Though what we bring's salvation.

I've seen my sisters burn on poles,

Through lights: Theatre Magic,

Everyone was awed indeed,

My sisters' fates were tragic.

So to ensure insure

'Twas not in vain,

I set forth in expedition,

To find the valley between the hills,

That my sisters' lore has mentioned.
