As I hanker for anchor the anchor reveals as a w****r,
a slow-killing killick, seaman of souls,
breathlessly seeping semen like sea foam.
A sea pearl abandoned, adrift, unsure of shore,
unmoored, ropes hauling me back from the edge, the brink,
as I sink into drink, malleable mollusc, spilling lifeblood as ink.
Dropped like an anchor, his charm thirty pieces of silver -
coins tossed into water, a tarnishing glimmer.
Words that once anchored now sea-snaky snares,
sneaky wave snares drifting unseen in smothering depths.
Knife strikes of sea-light,
the knife sliding in between lives,
shucking and shocking and shattering shells.
The gathering gloom of gulls
pecking at entrails, grim pickings of scraps thrown out.
His anchor of words echoing, empty, emptied of empathy.
His weighty cross a stone around the neck,
holding my head under sea-sighs and drowning
dissolving white lilies of sea foam;
receding waves waving a final goodbye.

sucker punch action
blue ringed venomous mollusc -
man eating creature
gives head for kill
pinch of salty consumption -
mouth waters pleasure
octopus sprays ink
under cover of darkness -
tentacles retreat
coral for duvet
two lovers mate in caress –
sweet sixteen again
17th April
The blue ringed octopus can actually eat a human being thus devouring a Super-Ego.

The spiny one we loved to watch
Come crawling out at early dusk,
To wander round our lettuce patch
In search of fat juicy mollusc.
Eating such prey, made it our friend.
Alas, no more we see it here.
Did its species come to an end,
When its habitat disappear,
As they cleared hedgerows from the scene,
When new road under construction.
Our lettuce patch no longer green,
Due to loss of the spiny one.

Luminescent water dweller swirling svelte
Slick slid tranquil cuddles chocolate flanks
Languish in lake's fresh flow cleanses pelt
Inveigled green murk give mammal thanks
Flip of fish bodied bristle face fierce scent
Dispersing air bubble clusters break ranks
Astonished by spine kink accomplishment
Ransack gets snack refuel on sandy banks
Sharp fang archer snares mollusc, eloquent
Velvet lips emit wet grass verdant vibe knell
Frolicking gloss body, domain of free agent
Guarantees relief, feasted minuscule morsel
Rotary manuevres engrave prey unhindered
Dagger mouth rolls marble glassy carouse
Rouge show-off swims to coldest dominion
Flagrant tail track flicks a frigid drop douse
11th February
Behemoth of depths

A lowly blossom, striving to sustain
her beauty in the early morning mist,
the crocus, craving moisture to maintain
her stoic fight 'gainst winter's iron fist.
A lowly mollusc slithers 'neath his shell,
he slowly weaves, and leaves a silver trail,
antennae primed and ready for the knell,
when sparrows poke and peck his coat of mail.
Creatures and plants in the midst of the fray,
searching for sustenance, dying of thirst,
staving off hunger, say, is there a way
for them to be blessed, not feeble and cursed?
predator, prey, both the strongest and weakest,
who will prevail in the fight to live longest?

The irritant is caressed in the soft folds of a cloak
Layering it lovingly so smooth to stroke
The irritant becomes fit for King, Prince or Earl
To spend their money on a brand new lustrous pearl.
The spherical pearl of astounding beauty and form
Not man made or designed but from nature is born
From the mollusc a lowly bivalve, barely a good meal
This precious pearl is so beauteous that grown men will steal
To keep a pearl looking well it must be worn next to the skin
To keep the lustre shining bright or the pearl will grow dim
A pearl is a gem of much value, and a gem of much worth
Also a metaphor for a person, known as the salt of the earth.

The barnacle is not what you may think
No mollusc this, no limpet dull and drab
It's lack of adult movement hides the link
To cousins like the lobster and the crab.
Hermaphrodite, a male and female phase
Alternate, and thus its offspring make
It's lifecycle is one which should amaze
What follows are the forms that it will take.
Nauplius. Expelled and floating free
Small and mobile, soft shell on its back
It swims with other plankton in the sea
Bottom of the food chain: just a snack.
Cyprid. In this stage it does not feed
It only searches with a sole intent
To find the roost and friends that it will need
Where it can stick itself down with cement.
So here we are: the adult that we know
Settled down and to its choice home bound
Mature it still has those wild oats to sow
Priapically, it still can get around.
