Safe in each other's arms lies our compass
a gifted direction of serenity in the evening
when your smile is a flesh tone canvas
that points to the stress that is leaving
our sanctuary in twilight is a calming delight
where we cast all of the day's troubles aside
welcome the soft grandness of love's gentle light
to this cause our hearts will always abide
no walls to build where emotions can hide
in this realm of purity, our safe haven
to these quiet moments our contentment is tied
so, this refuge of love is never shaken
we share the tenderness of our compassion
to lie still and silent in our love's armor
we are one another's home and companion
where our heart is a safe and welcomed harbor
Amidst the rocks on the edge of the land
Casting its light, a faithful friend stands.
Low in the shadows of the crests and troughs
Lies hidden danger when seas are rough.
But this lighthouse spreads it's loyal beam
To alert captains to what can't be seen...
A metaphor for a friend like you
Who generously lights up those around her too
Who shares her light of joy and love;
The darkest shadows you rise above.
Thank you for reaching out your hand
Like the faithful guardian sheds its light from the land.
AHOY!
It’s not a foregone conclusion,
but a stinging reality: Even porcupines
master love, without making pain
a subsidiary organism:-
Though the pain of love's waves
may froth ashore, waves will recede
and froth will eventually dissipate
with healing evaporation: Leaving a sea
of memories floating on the ocean of life:-
Thoughtfully watered, always keep in mind,
you’re the captain of your soul, and
the blown wind in its sail:- And remember,
though docked and anchored, you can still
set sails for tomorrow—getting ready today:-
Ahoy, Matey! Be in winds of sailing grace:-
YOU, LOVE, AND GOD'S LIBERATING SCAR
Ever remember,
You’re the child of God’s grace:
The devil’s desire:-
Satan craves God’s goods:
Can’t steal, he seeks to adopt
All confused navels:-
Navels can’t erase
The scars of their beginnings:
Heaven can’t be hell:-
Hate can’t adopt love:
So, slap Satan in his face,
And walk away free.
You are God’s glory;
A liberated navel:
A keloid of love:-
IN THE PILLARING OF LIFE
Be a pillar
Of peace and love;
Supporting justice
And equity:
Foundations
Of democracy;
And it’s roofing
From above:-
They twinkle with sparks of love
that dance as a rippling pond
to spread upon my heart's shore-
your deep eyes of blue
Thy curve hath taught
the rosewood how to sing
and my fingers
long roughened by cedar
grow gentle upon thy hips
returning unto the edge of thy ebony
Through forty harvests
rain hath polished
snow hath kept
the sun made sweet the grain
Lo, the wood thrush calleth
from the bough
where once this timber
drank the morning
Thrice I say unto thee
I love thee—
And another ring
God closeth
in the heartwood

A PERSPECTIVE IN LIFE’S UPS AND DOWNS
Late last night, I was
Parallel to the full moon:-
That changed this morning:
I am perpendicular
To another day’s sunshine
Glory be to God
Another surviving night,
And its rising day:
Me ready for all of life’s
Up and down tribulations:-
In life’s ups and downs,
Let’s forever be in God’s
Labors of His love:
Seeking true equality
For all of humanity:-
In life’s ups and downs,
Let us pull down injustice;
Raising up justice:
Don’t be blind to injustice,
Up there, pulling down, justice:-:
Much more could be said,
But it’s parallel time now—
Tomorrow waiting:
May God see fit to have me
Perpendicular again:-
MISPLAYED
Hate came out to play.
Falling into a peace hole,
It soon became love:-
Where there is peace, there is love:
Where love is, hate can not be:-
TODAY’S POLITICAL BIRTH CONTROL
They aborted love,
Defertilizing justice:
Birthing injustice:-
Oppression pregnant again:
Democracy miscarried:-
Love's sweet aroma drifts -
Draws me to surrender.
My joy is your laughter;
Your presence, my repose.
Let love and fire marry
And living be the prize.
I resign my empty nights;
Where you lead, I follow.
Like a candle and flame -
Be with me as one -
Wax melding into tongue
Inextricably so.
IN THE TRIANGLE OF TIMED LOVE:
A REPOSED REFLECTION
Out of his love,
God has given us
One of His
Greatest gifts:Time:-
And time
Has its way:
Yesterday came
And stayed
Until time
To go;
Today has come
To stay
Until time
To go;
Anf tomorrow
Is waiting
Until it’s
Her time
To come:-
How blessed
We are
To be in
In this womb
Of the pyramid of life:
With eyes on the prize,
God is the apex of life’s love:
He’s on both sides of our being,
And is the base of all of our hopes:-
A lovely rose unfolds so well -
a keepsake given from the heart
to etch itself, so free of thorns -
a sweet memento deep and sound.
When given as a sign of love,
it finds a place to live and grow
with velvet petals that caress
to soothe the heart with happiness.
But, I'm that dreadful vampire rose
given by love that does not last -
eating away at memories
that in one's heart, remains inside.
My vampire fate will leave a wound
that stirs deep pain from long ago;
a sign of love that once fulfilled-
I morph to blemish what was joy.
Teasing rumble in the distance,
faint fragrance of petrichor,
redolence of rain nymphs
drifting along in primal scent,
like a mesmerizing lover hovering,
tantalizing, provocative.
Pent up emotion mounts, burns,
a yearning fountain of ecstasy,
love bursting forth flashing bolts
splitting skies and scorching earth;
saturate my soul with storm
relentless love of tempest born.
One with nature's searing surge,
I am consumed when we converge.

ENDLESS
Love is endless;
So is the healing she gives:
Healing her own pain.
