You would turn us all into puppets,
lacking the will to act, feel, believe--
making us into robots of flesh, subject
like slaves to genes and environment,
just the end result of eons of evolution.
Marx said money puled us down and
Freud made the unconscious a power,
while Sartre told us nothing exists
beyond your pulse and when that stops,
with your last heartbeat, you are nothing.
But they are all fools, blind and deaf, who
will not, cannot see the endless mixing of
the Divine with the mundane, not feel
the currents of the Great Mystery as It
swirls in turbulence through every life.

Pandemonium
P aranoia proliferates among pretending believers
A nxious and terrified by extremist behaviours
N arcissisitic society of self obsessed materialists
D emand and devour all hedonistic offerings
E nveloping themselves in nationalistic fervor
M anifesting their opposition to a united world
O bedient only to their own selfish myopic concepts
N uclear war again raises ugly spectre on the horizon
I deologies clash like the Titans in battle, while
U nderlying hatred, animosity and xenophobia
M anoeuvre mankind masterfully to monumental misery

To ALL those
who think
their thinking
will understand
life and love,
war and peace,
hate and forgiveness,
good and evil,
hell and heaven...
To the intellectuals
who loudly declare
hope an illusion,
belief delusion,
religion refuge
for fools, and
science to be
the only true god...
To the socialists
and communists and
all progressive people
who are certain
humanity's makeover
is just within reach,
perfection awaits
only correct ideology,
with justice, fairness,
equality for all...
(as long as it's
done their way).
To the materialists
who are bold and brave,
seeing death as extinction,
life as meaningless,
so proud, so very proud
that they, and only they
know the truth:
what you see is
what you get...
A toast to all the naive,
who see but are blind,
hear but are deaf,
feel but are so insensate
of life's Spirit,
they live like mice
in a magnificent palace...
