walking a forgotten way
where there was so much life once
we shed long hidden tears as we remember
we think of all that died peacefully and proud
we hold our heads up a little higher and walk on a little further
our narrators are the whispering landmarks
our mentors are the morals at the end of each said story
holding hands, out minds open up even more
thinking that we knew a lot, but finding out we know even less
sometimes lessons and wisdom are not obviously visible or loquaciously verbose
you have to walk a path to it no matter the current condition of its presentation

Deliberately debating a debilitating disease,
Excruciates and exacerbates existential ease.
Loquaciously lugubrious her lacrimonious wailing,
Instilled in me an ignominy of incongruous assailing.
Galling in its gargantuan, garrulous gainsaying,
Hypocritical hyperbole it goes without saying.
Tormenting me with tales of her tinnitus tintinnabulation,
Forced me to fulminate with ferocity and damnation.
Until, unambiguously, I uttered my interdiction,
Life's too short and your lassitude would test a Saints benediction.

Message after message
Always troubled with concerns
I lend an ear - a voice
You’d think by now I would have learned
Hours and hours of drama
Filled with emotional selfish needs
Is this how you treat your best friend?
Dumping everything on me
I use reason and logic
To keep her calm and reassured
I can’t tell if she is listening
Her response is loquaciously immature
I like to think that I am helping
But it’s hurting me so
Taking advantage of our friendship
I’ve got to learn to say no
Another message another evening
Its seems her friends have let her down
She just needed someone to talk to
She always knows I’ll be around
She started talking about them badly
She probably talks the same about me
Sometimes it makes me wonder
If helping her is killing me
So I’ll send another message
It helps her sleep throughout the night
But as I lay here in the darkness
I hope and pray I’ll be alright
It’s going to take some time
Change begins with me - this I know
Taking advantage of our friendship
I’ve got to learn to say no
