Inspired by the songs and lyrics of Bob Marley
Like three little birds people stop to listen.
To hear songs sang of redemption.
Pitched by their door steps reminiscing,
Of a time when no woman would cry
And like a natural mystic their
Tears would fly,to a place where
The colour of a mans skin
Or the religion he believes in
Holds no more significance
Then the colour of his eyes
A place where everyone
Could be loved then be loved.
But we live in a world where politicians.
Stir up hatred by fuelling religious tensions,
Crushing the satisfied souls of generations,
by dropping bombs to silence, songs sang of freedom.
Which reignites, WAR, on already WAR torn nations.
yeah dis a WAR,
With every new day brings more WAR
Yeah everywhere is WAR,
Yeah me say WAR.
life can't always be about frolicking down hills
of sweet lavender— and— daffodils...
it varies from moments of time and circumstance
in blind faith—daily— we take a chance...
we are born knowing nothing—everything learned will be taught
even still—best lessons will be from sense that is bought...
in this world that seem to be trying to become one size—fit all
not the way it was meant to be—God gave us winter—spring
summer and fall...
where part of learning is to crawl
walk—run—and yeah—sometimes fall...
falling and gettin' back up—makes us strong
falling in love and losing—makes us long...
falling and longing can cause much pain
but in giving up—there is no gain...
it is better to have loved and lost
than to never have loved at all—tho the same will be the cost...
finding true treasure takes time
the most powerful tools we have are our hearts and our mind...
in time—we'll find—true treasures are not in the form of
things and diamond rings...
but love—the kind that can't be bought—the kind that will
support you when you take a tumble down a hill
void of sweet lavender— and— daffodils ....

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr. 2024©
Teenage years so long ago
running wild and free
happier times
where I want again to be
it was just you and me
living for the moment
now that moment is where I live
so here I am today
still so much to give
all those memories
I can't help but re-live
night after night
there's no end in sight
not sure about the destination
of this flight
each time I think I may finally see the light
darkness once again settles around me
why can't this just be
I need this for me
this is what I clearly see
telling you would set me free
yeah I know, I know
patience is key
inside me there's a fire
I can't put out
you're my hearts desire
I have no doubt
I've started a river
with the tears I've cried
just pushing through
trying to get past this
thoughts of looking deep into your eyes
makes me shiver
the reasons that make me quiver
is the excitement of seeing you again
but at the same time being scared to death
of taking that breath
and letting those words be free
damned if I do, damned if I don't
I know where the don't gets me
nowhere fast
the time is here at last
to tell you what I've needed
to say for so long
and right or wrong
it has to be done
so I can then
move on
It always starts with a whisper.
A quite before the storm.
Building up to a rip, a fissure
then inside eruptions
kaleidoscoped palisades
divided by mirrors.
My eyes elope into one
that sees much more clear.
The fluid pours uncontested
to the mouth of my river.
The taste elate my sense.
You can feel the current.
The earth and sky with pupose.
i love it, i live it, i learn it
The storm hits.
My imagination sprinkles.
1000 feet 500 people
revolting against their captors
blood falling soaked in evil.
We end at the feet
of the one they call master.
The monarch
butterflies cascade through the sky
and turn it black as night.
Flowers cover the bodies of people.
Trees overtake all of the steeples.
Mountains break ground
and thunder through cathedrals
good overtakes evil.
Yeah that's it, this place
this is where i shall leave you
the chaos is over and now
it turns peaceful.
I hope you enjoyed this.
I hope for you like me
it was like a vacation.
However I can't take credit.
the sound that turned into music
was not mine.
I am just a poet
that took it and framed it.
I owe it to the dragonfly
for he is who whispered.
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake......
WHAT are you thinking...
telling me stuff like that
just before you tuck me in
and turn out the lights?
Whadda-ya-mean IF? IF?
I should .....D I E.....
Get back in here
get me a night light,
some demon repellent.
Tell the Lord to keep
his mitts offa my soul.
Ain't sleepin'
not tonight....not ever
Where can i hide my soul.
Damn....I don't even know
what a soul looks like.
Where can I hide?
Under the bed
in the closet....too easy.
Maybe...YEAH...

HOLDING BULB...

Now I lay Me Down to Sleep Poetry Contest
Hi, I’m young, I want to belong,
I come from the school of hard knocks.
So I stamp my tag, wherever I want,
On the side of the shipping train box.
Hi, well, I’m the unemployed artist,
With a political agenda display.
I leave it in all noticeable spots,
With a large cardboard stencil and spray.
Yeah, hi, umm, good to meet you,
I’m the neurotic office clerk.
And, by day at the office, I create little stickers,
That I stick up on signs, after work.
Hey guys, I’m the invisible man,
My blockbusters aren’t meant to be small,
When I leave them all over the side,
On the biggest brick grandiose wall.
These are the folks alive in our jungle,
They’re our modern surviving Tarzan,
Graffitying, in colour, what can’t be said,
Their ideas, our youth with spray can.
Your Brother
You didn’t take the food and leave it for your brother
Instead you gave it to a stranger and rushed home to your mother
She was sitting at the table with hot food for you to eat
She looked into your lying eyes “Did you find him on the street?”
You didn’t want to hurt her, couldn’t bear to see her cry
So you mumbled “Yeah I did” but didn’t look her in the eye
You wondered if he was okay and hoped she wouldn’t ask
You knew that in the next few days you’d have another task
“Take him this warm jacket” or “give him homemade bread”
“Take him granny’s blankets to put upon his bed.”
You’d just add them to the items built up in your backseat
She never understand he didn’t care to eat
She wouldn’t comprehend that he didn’t have a bed
or that he didn’t want a hat to cover up his head
Her generation differed, she lived through the Great Depression
She wouldn’t believe her son could create his own oppression
You had no sympathy for him he created this affliction
How could it be so hard to get sober from addiction?
You thought that he could stop and come home any time he wanted
You didn’t listen when he said “it’s like being haunted”
you smirked the day he told you “I’ve seen the depths of hell”
and you blocked your number when he called you on your cell
He needed you to have faith in him but you weren’t able
He found Faith in the Lord and Without YOU he got Stable

Took a walk down to the water,
looked out and gazed awhile.
I took a walk down to the water,
looked out and gazed awhile.
There's no way to understand this,
it's just another trial.
I am broke and I am hungry,
but I'm close enough to care.
I am broke and I am hungry,
but I'm still close enough to care.
Things will never be the same in this life,
but maybe over there.
So, I forgive it all. I forgive it all.
With you, I forgive it all.
There ain't no money in this deal,
it all pays the same.
There ain't no money in this deal,
it all pays the same.
So, what's the point in asking questions,
and wondering who's to blame.
I forgive it all. I forgive it all.
With you, I forgive it all.
We all end up being human,
and that ain't gonna change.
Yeah, we all end up being human,
and that ain't gonna change.
I'll just trust the only one I can
and stop trying to rearrange.
So, I forgive it all. I forgive it all
With you, I forgive it all.
Yeah, with you, I forgive it all.
...Mudcrutch
[verse 1]
Bring it down low…
really slow…
now bring it in high
oh yeah… just brush my thigh.
[pre-chorus]
Kiss me like that
You make my head ring
You make my heart sing…
Now you know…
[chorus]
It ain’t no mystery
you light me up
turn my knobs / burn my fobs
I am combustin’
you got me lustin’.
I want you.
[verse 2]
You stare into my eyes / I see your desire
I hear your sighs / I feel your shiver
as my hands echo yours...
Both of us coming undone… / What have you done?
[bridge ]
Heat creates sparks
heart to heart
lips meet mine… / drinking slow, like wine.
[pre-chorus]
Kiss me like that
You make my head ring / You make my heart sing… / Now you know.
[chorus ]
It ain’t no mystery / you light me up / turn my knobs / burn my fobs.
I am combustin’ / you got me lustin’ / I want you.
No mystery… / you’re into me too… / we’ll see this through.
Smilin’ to my toes / let’s see where this night goes… / where this night goes…
