Know Your Enemy!
Look at me, eye to eye,
I am not your friend, I am the enemy.
You don’t see me….but I’m out there!
Inside the darkness, inside the watching wood.
I’m a gravestone, all colour bleached,
a shade of shadow… that’s different… dangerous.
Not even the trees are aware, I’m there,
as their branches just sway, away, the day.
You draw your curtains, you stiffen
the night pushes closer, you listen.
It whispers dark secrets you can’t hear,
your thoughts hold tension; cold, weighted stone.
Branches and leaves, my partners in crime,
as they fracture my outline.
The wind tests my balance
slides my jacket, pulls my resolve
but I have learnt the language of… stillness;
the understanding of… watchfulness.
I perceive the rhythm of your house,
sense its window-eyes drift to sleep;
your weight of experience drains you
so therefore I have the power.
Nature now feels my thoughts,
thoughts that don’t belong in these woods.
Insects avoid me, unsure if I am alive or dead
while animals swerve and curve away
and the sky rolls ponderously by,
pulling the night's solemnity with it.
No, you don’t know me….yet
but I know.. who? You..
now in the tar of night I move,
the ground feels my weight...but holds its silence.
Your mind hears a bully of footsteps
but I am not there, I can’t be!
But you sense a menace of energy
from someone moving towards you!
Then the cold grasp of silence
coiling itself around the room
and you know I’ve definitely, defiantly arrived.
Zig-zag, jig jag, slip-slow, tip-toe,
My name, Fear, a relative;
sometimes distant, sometimes near.
Too late you realize, I’m already inside your mind.
Know…. your…. enemy!

Spring is coming soon - and thank the Lord!
Resplendent blossoms renovate each tree.
It cannot get here quick enough for me,
Nor does it linger long. The shining sward
Gleams, garlanded with daisies. Every pond
Is laced with life! I love to see the spawn,
Surmising that the lambs, so lately born,
Can frolic in the fleeces they have donned,
Occasioning the watchfulness of ewes.
March hares are up on haunches, sparring hard,
Ignoring me with haughty disregard,
Neglecting normal safety norms. For shoes,
Gigantic oaks wear boots of bluebell blooms,
Surprising us with old-and-gnarled-and-new!
Obliging insects fertilize the plumes
Of furled-out flowers, iridescent blue,
Narcissus and nasturtium, breaking through!

Beauty to behold…midst darkness-gloom
Creation-masterpieces crafted by the supreme Designer
Delights of the eyes for all seasons defying deceits’ obscurity…
Extolling the awesome grandeur of Deity’s highness!
Firmament wonders they are challenging astronomers’ acumen
Galaxy ornaments mystifying astrologers and constellation gazers
Heaven’s jewels enriching astronauts’ intellectual treasures
Influence-compass guiding travelers toward journey’s triumph…
Justifying space scientists’ quest beyond earth-exploration!
Kindlers of reality-awakenings they are for children
Lights toward truth-searching in their growing-up years
Marvels with wisdom-beam midst their magic and mystery queries
Night-sparkles that promise wealth … “like diamonds in the sky”…
Opening to them opportunities to dream and soar to the top!
Potential poetry and song inspiration-sources can they be
Quiet, yet bright witnesses of victims’ cry for peace and justice
Radiant gems expressing hope to aspiring champions
Steadfast signs with assurance-gleam against skeptics’ doubts…
Testifying about mankind’s fascination for the celestial!
Up above, there they shine … reflecting God’s glory
Victory they assert for the faith-driven to progress-ascent
Watchfulness they show along divine vision-guidance
‘Xcellence marks their illumining expertise in and out of season

Zealously zooming on the eternal light’s Origin and Power!

Carpe Diem Dance
What lives today, changes faces tomorrow,
The breath of dance conundrum,
As days of clay crumble into mortality.
Wisdom’s alliterations
Speaks a monologue into the jealous
Tiger of time at full gallop
Demanding
Our intentionality wake
From hypnotized stupor
To each tick of time –
Every revolution of the sun –
Before ephemerality slides into new dawns
Like spent daylilies grasping at moonlight
With no contract for the next,
No covenant for another
No promise for running through stardust.
Our eyes grasp at the alluring coiffure
Of present tense choreographies -
Elusive patterns
Styled in NOW.
Haunting possibilities intones spells
In single strands, of intricate steps,
Over the work of our hands
Danced with warp and woof
To revel in styles beyond our signatures
Conscious of coincidence
Open to opportunities
Lessons of Love
Parables of Hope
Affirmations of Quests
Axioms of Ah-ha!
Yes!
Live in the realm of watchfulness
Seize the first light
Then rest in our Eternal’s readiness.
