Dying Alone

The bedside tray sits empty
No get well cards
No Flowers from that special someone
The only sound is the life support monitor
Counting down the beats to my last breath
Yet death lingers
And the dark finger of fate
Dangles my life like a puppet on a string
My visitor comes every two hours
To check my pulse
Check for a faint flicker in my eyes
But really just waiting to throw a sheet
Over my cold dead corpse.
No one else comes.
I hear a newborn baby crying in the distance.
Fitting
One on the way in, one on the way out
The angel of death and the angel of mercy
Exchange pleasantries outside my door.
And so i wait
Alone
To die alone.

Premium Member Deceptively Black and White

deceptively black and white, like night and day
touching everyone yet never truly felt
colorless emotions lucent like crystal water
as ice fades into warmth of day, destined to melt

but a specter, a phantasm, a ghost am I
no more than a visitor in your dreams
unseen, a diminutive reflection of you,
a broken mirror, a thousand silent screams

no one sees me, no one hears me, no one
alone, so very alone, you look through me
like mist in the morning I fade in the light
am I here or a figment that you can't see

just a breath that tickles the back of your neck
invisible, easily brushed away, a mite
LOOK AT ME! I am here! a rainbow that needs love too
I'm real, I'm not so deceptively black and white

I Will Lock Up My Door

Pain so debilitating
draining me of life
It is constant
with no respite
Saps my energy
such pain within

Pain depletes joy
from my face
Leaves strain and hurt
etched on my frown
As slowly and surely
pain grinds me down

Even when I try to sleep
pain keeps me awake
for hours on end
This enemy within
taking over my life
is dragging me down

Pain at every turn
Pain so aging
so exhausting too
Oh dear what can I do

Walking to accommodate
but posture is poor
Exacerbating problem
on walking through my door

Oh please I am begging
no pain anymore
Unwelcome guest
you ring my bell
you truly are
a visitor from hell

I will not let you in
I will lock up my door

Premium Member Raven Stared Unblinkingly at Me

an ebony raven flew in through the window
looked over his neck a few times
I thought someone might be after him
He was the first visitor to my new exhibition

I had named this display Poe, in honor of the real poet of our times
but never expected this spontaneous visitor
He landed on the skull I had arranged on my volumes
I wondered what was to come

Would this uninvited guest inspire a poem?
Surely more than one
I wished now that I had bought a quill
I had stared at one a few times

But you have to dip them into an ink well
And I am such a slob, I gave up on the idea
The raven stared unblinking at me
Was this an accusation? Disappointment?
I felt his disgust.

Premium Member The Visitor

Eleven years has already passed.
The moon was shining brightly that night.
So far but I can still recall.--
I sat down in the window pane, reading my favorite magazine.
Then my eyes got tired and laid down myself in bed,
Leaving the window open to let the wind passed in.
Soon I fall asleep, very deep and dream occured.
I was standing in front of the window.
The night is high, then an image of a guy appeared in my front.
I tried to close the window but I have no strength to moved my hands.
I tried to shout, aloud but no one could hear me...
And the clock started to rotate in full speed.,,
Little by little I grasp a thin air, Im suffocated!
I screamed! No voice can filled my room.
Then darkness envaded my world...
I closed my eyes and told myself,"I was just dreaming."
Deep sigh, I prayed and called for His name...
And a tiny light came out in a horizon.
It's done...I woke up in a horrible nightmare.
I opened my eyes and stunned to what I see.
The image of a man was right in front of me!
He was so near...an incubus watching over me.
I was frightened...and stared at him...deep sigh I whispered.
"It ain't real...I was just dreaming."
I left the bed hotheadedly to lit the room.
But the button couldn't switched the light on.
I rushed to open the door and escape from the darkness.
When I reached the living room and calmed myself a bit.
I looked back to my room and the light was already on.
There I whispered..."my dream was over."
Not yet until he visited my daughter in her dream.

Gentle is the growl of the distant traffic.
The heat of the vanishing night
Tumbles through the wide inviting window
As summer's last hoorah cascades
A tsunami of over-ripe heat
Across the surface of the dusty duvet
Where I lie
To suck the resistant moisture
From my pores
And simultaneously steal my sleep
The wild creatures are subdued.
Lucid thoughts crowd into
The sleepless void like
A second unwelcome visitor.
Tweedledum and Tweedledee
Want to wrestle me into the world..
I reach for the ropes with hopes of
A friendly hand, to tag me back
Into the realm of unreality..
Gentle is the growl of the distant traffic.

A man of modest mien and means
    his genius hidden ‘behind-the-scenes’
The Rebbe of Lubavitch in NYC was the address
for those who aspired to success

For over forty years, ‘til 1994
those who knocked at his door
from early morning ‘til far into the night
came away with clarity, unparalleled light

He challenged each visitor, from the States or overseas
to be the absolute best they could possibly be
Accepting no excuses, delays or ‘lack of passion’
The Rebbe told them: “Obstacles are miracles
			                         ~ waiting to happen”*

Premium Member My Most Blissful Dream Ever

I once
dreamed a dream
that made my soul dance
singing loved ones into my spirit world

Entering my essence in gentlest of ways,
enlightening my heart with their truths and their love.
an ethereal mystical magical dream that uplifted and cherished me.

One of my most memorable soul people returned to apologize
I gladly embraced her, she was glittering, bright light, but I knew her.
My soul knew her. I told her I forgave her of course.

The next arrived to assured me that I could not have stopped her from
Taking her life; it was hers to take, not mine to protect.
She consoled and soothed me.
Her essence was a reminder that even suicides are
nurtured and protected in heaven.

My heart was enraptured to see my third visitor in this visitation dream.
She had been so confused and unwell in the end; decrepit even.
I had never known her this young.
She was gorgeous. Thrilled to see me as I was to see her.

A person who had always preached I should be proud of myself,
and live my truth,
she gave me a heads up.
She has been watching and she is proud of me.

Best dream ever.
It has surpassed all of my other wonderful dreams.
One of three of my most blissful spirit-inspired dreams.

Couplet 16 Caress Your Day, Dear Olayinka Olasubomi Oluwatosin

Until the first cry
No heart stop wondering on high

And when it came sparkling
All minds shout barking

For joy radiating up and down
The freezing hearts in fun

And no more waiting in anticipation
For the earth's magnetic admiration

Visitor arrived safely
Against enemies wish to come absurdly

Peoples of peoples
Block all the house aisles

To say hello
To the new face aglow

There’s all over
Good wishes in prayers uncovered

I pray your days be long
To correct in grace all wrongs

In praises to Christ
For life and peace spiced

In goodness that keeps coming
And greatness forthcoming

This moment, recalls
All satanic threats so tall

To get your ship wrecked
But faithful is His check

On you
Which disturbed them without clue

And plants you on the rock
As you keep traveling round the clock

Let your smiles energize your faith
This is a new dawn of the symbolic eighth

Amen!

Premium Member Leaves of Life

Aren’t we the leaves in the towering tree of life
Giving it a diadem with the green grace of foliage.
Are we not the pages of a tome or text of cryptic script
Unable to decipher what scribbles are scrawled on it
With every page bringing unexpected twists and turns.

As I turn the leaves of my life one by one
I see my childhood in great sheen and shimmer,
Like the tender sprouts of spring's splendor
Fluttering and flitting in whispering wind.

In scorching summer sun, got crumpled and curled
At times, twirled and swirled with the needle pricks of rain.
Yet I survived and held hard on to the mother tree,
Weaving dusky dreams even through the bleakest nights
And lifting my glistening gaze to unimaginable heights.

In those times, how I wished to catch the crimson sun
And my mind longed to chase the sudden spark
Never knowing, the faster the light flares into brilliance,
The quicker it is to slide and slip away n' die out as a flash.

When autumn came, strangely I turned wise and wizened
My tenacious attempt to cling on and clutch seemed in vain
One by one as the leaves of autumn drop down
And litter the roads and pathways to be trampled over
I see 'the foliage of farewell' and the one that awaits me
I know well, I too will soon fall and fade and lie lifeless
In the sodden soil or sand, defenceless and desolate.

My dream was never to drift drowsy downstream
But to soar high into the seamless sky like a bird on wings

In the spring of life, love was such a sweet sensation
But now it is watered with saline tears and silent sobs.
Most of my dreams have flown away fluttering like autumn leaves
Those that I once held fast now stay distant as stars of the sky
Sleep, once a visitor who barged in at short notice,
Has become a fading fugitive, giving me dreadful nights.

Yet I turn the pages of my life with anticipation
Until I tremble at the edge of time and tumble down
As the last lingering leaf from the tree of life-

Then I will tell myself- 'neither dusk nor dawn can delude me’.

I am not in dark despair, but in calm contentment,
For I have
                 Lived
                            Loved
                                   and
                                         Dreamed
