What Kind of Poet Are You

I write poetry not to change the world,
but to change the way I feel.
Sometimes it’s just made-up fantasy,
sometimes, something a little more real.

I’m not a sophisticated poet you see,
using litotes, anapest, or alliteration.
Though I’ve been known to use an aphorism or two,
when talking about the politicians of this nation.

I pay little attention to the rhyming scheme,
and syllable count means nothing to me.
I’m not even sure what it is they really mean,
When they talk about ABAB or CCCC.

Am I a Beat, Black Mountain, or Dada,
conceptual, confessional, or poststructuralist, oh my.
Things like cacophony, euphony, cadence, and feet,
confuse me to the point that makes me want to cry.

I just put some words in my dilapidated computer,
typing it out in fourteen font Helvetica.
I’m never sure of what form of poem I write,
Wait, is this one called Ars Poetica.

Does God have more than one name,
in the bible many names can be found.
In Exodus Moses said,
"The LORD Is My Banner."
Jehovah Shalom,
"The LORD our Peace."
Then we have Jehovah Raah,
"The LORD our Shepherd" from the Psalms 23.
Some young children call God,
"Abba" or "Abba Father."
A Hebrew word for His name is,
"Adonai."
The list of names can go on but the main point is,
to call on God.
Not only when things go bad,
but everyday.
To say thank you daily,
for all our many blessings.
With our earthly minds,
we cannot comprehend how great our God is.
When heaven comes,
we will then know how great our God has been.

Premium Member Daydreaming

There are some days when I just want to sit around
During certain moments and just relax doing nothing.
In my back porch I just enjoy all the views I can get
It is so nice to dream away and just let go of things.

This day is kind of nice and it is neither cold nor warm
It seems like the perfect day and the sky has a pleasant blue hue.
And as far as I can see now there's not even a single storm
There's nothing in my life right now that could ruin this day for me.

Well that's what I like to think at least especially in a pretty day like this
But well all we know that nothing will stay in this life for us the same way.
I remember all the good times I had and all the people I love so dearly and miss
I see no butterflies fluttering 'bout my garden but still I am having a great day.

I plan to get hold of some of my blank pages and then I'll seize my pen and write too
There's something so wonderful 'round me that can't describe but that's the way I feel today!

Hooked On Life

I see the worry in your eyes,
That frown upon your brow,
The questions forming o your lips.

But there is no need to worry,
I'll never lose that twinkle in my eye,
The ability to try
And try again.

Because lady I'm hooked on life
And if you are hooked on life,
You don't have much time to feel sorry for yourself,
You are too busy living your life
And feeling it,
With all its ups and downs,
It's good and bad times,
It's sadness and joy
And it's loneliness.

Look, into my eyes and you will see
That sparkle in my eye,
That can't and won't stop shining
And the exuberance that I give
To the things that I do.

If I am sometimes feeling sad or lonely
Don't feel bad,
Because a frown can always be turned around
If a person has love in their heart
And is hooked on life.

Turn your frown around
And be glad not sad for me,
Because I will always be trying
And will never give up on the game of life.

For those who know me, this may be a surprise
My mood lately has been less than upbeat
The years must be catching up with me
Lately I've been thinking a lot about life
How it all seems so very short
Seems like just yesterday, we had our first child
He is now about to turn sixty-four
Where did it go???
I've led a charmed life filled with much joy and happiness
Regrets? Had a few but in the overall scheme of things
My life has been a gem
Often wondered why with all the negativity around
Best to just accept it and enjoy it for the time I have left
I usually write happy, silly, upbeat poems
I guess my way of coping, getting through
But reality sometimes says
“Who are you trying to kid, Jester Jack?”
WELL... this is one of those times!
But have no fear,
I'll wake up tomorrow morning
Greet the world with a dirty big grin
And pretend today never happened!!!

Life’s Upheavals
Written: By Miracle Man
9-21-2019

I’ve had both Cancer,
and Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
And after having them both,
I can readily attest.

My two worst crises,
in life they’ve been.
 Cancer yanked me,
from a life of sin.

S.C.A. was likewise,
a redoubtable adversary.
Leaving things in life,
much less arbitrary.

Jesus covered my bed,
as I lay near death.
Now my vision is beyond,
drawing a final breath.

Hitting the recall button,
I see both time and place.
When Cancer stirred me,
to seek Jesus’ face.

I was living a life,
engulfed by Satan’s mire.
Cancer became the match,
that set my fields on fire.

America First is our creed
Let’s use all we can at warp speed
It’s great when we play
And make foreigners pay
While from any debt we get freed.

One person alone can consume
A few things in a big stockroom
But acting en masse
Generates greenhouse gas
As an off-the-books toxic plume

While this crisis might us annoy
Hate adds considerable joy
Disease and famine
Are fun like backgammon
And entertain the hoi-polloi

Poison water and land does create
Strange meals to eat and hydrate
It’s not much concern
Since our goal to discern
Is a country made again great?

It makes us feel safe after all
The structure we worship that’s tall
Since immigrants scare
Private water and air
Need tombstones arranged as a wall.

Two chains in our DNA linked
Give humans a code quite distinct
But with a god’s mind
We’ve become strangely blind
To who’s next to end up extinct

Laying in the hammock in the summer breeze
Looking up at the sky, through the shaded trees
Going to the river on a hot summer’s day
Watching the river’s flow take troubles away
Taking trips to new places, enjoying new adventures
Seeing things up close as the soul happily stirs
Watching the fireworks burst into the sky
Bringing colors to life on the 4th of July
Cooking on the grill, on the deck in fresh air
Sharing good company, with laughter everywhere
Going to the beach, collecting shells in the sun
All of this and so much more, is summer fun!

With faith in God we'll be secure
Obedience in Him gives us success
Fasting and praying does much more
Never letting life's troubles obsess

Obedience in Him gives us success
Letting Him guide our every step
Never letting life's troubles obsess
Giving to Jesus things we've long kept

Letting Him guide our every step
Knowing that His promises are forever true
Giving to Jesus things we've long kept
I know because He loves me and also you

Know that His promises are forever true
Fasting and praying does much more
I know because He loves me and also you
With faith in God we'll be secure

Profound Magnificance the Legend of Ghetto Sushi

He stood in the middle of
The ring and asked the
Members of The
Right Stuff inc.
To stop the B.S.
And start making things
Right for the people.
In his lavish robe
And pink mask
Ghetto Sushi
Said if it comes to
Wrestling he'd out
Wrestle them
If it came to
Brawling he'd
Out Brawl them
He spoke about
Being first in line
And having his
Back turned to
All the hungry
Wolves, he scared
The micro phone
Interveiwee when
He started speaking
About things he didn't
Understand saying
Miss Tusslers baby boy
Was a champion
People the world over
Loved and admired him
Miss Tussler and Big Meanie
Liked nice things but they
Didn't like you
MissTussler liked cool people
But they didn't like you.
I use to think Big Meanie
And Miss Tussler were
Bad people til I meet you
Ghetto Sushi say
Miss Tussler beat that
Ass and Ghetto Suchi
Gonna beat that ass too!
Ghetto Sushi represents
Clean areas and living
Responsibly The star
Shing bright in
The big sky
Ghetto Sushi
Ah Superstar a
Bright light among
The night a sample
Of what greatness is
I am Ghetto Sushi
The Greatest of Altime!
