DARK WINTER ENDS, WELCOME SPRING
The first day of winter came with harsh news.
My brother, his wife and son contracted
Covid, then seventeen others tested
positive, for this virus does not choose
it’s victims that it suddenly suffused
our family; three lives terminated.
All three commemorated, as winter
ends and as spring nears, bringing needed light
to overcome the dire, dark winter’s sight.
Welcome spring, a revival to enter
our family again or deliver
new beginnings to give us more insights.
Spring in a week, will bring growth and new hope,
changing darkness to light for us to cope.

I think I now know have finally
discovered and figured out the
reason what inspired me to began
to write
Probably because now looking back on
reflection
No one else apart from you
here kindest of folk on the soup
Would In the actual flesh be
willing to listen or even hear me out
As nothing I could possibly say or
any of my points of view
Seemed or deemed to be of any
value to anyone I knew at all
Apart from certain individual people
who I do not and will never know who
choose to reply and comment on my
poems
Who through the right of reply have lead
me into beginning to believe
Yes indeed I do and am in fact not
only actually entitled to express
my point of view but have my say
as well
Which is both at the same time a
crying shame but also a blessing
That i find myself unless disguised
valued more by other's than my own
And I would be being disingenuous or
lying to you more than myself
If I was to ever say that has and I will
never let that bother me or even hurt me at all
That to me is like water off a duck's back
and not worth loosing a single night's
sleep over
And that must be the very reason why I
am still currently up at 2.43 am in the
morning
Having nobody else but hopefully you
willing to lend me a kind ear
Obviously retraction correction 2.44 am

They shot the Archduke,
And my eyes closed in disbelief;
They sank the Lusitania,
And my heart palpitated.
My friend, this world reels and tumbles and faints,
Lost in endless crises and disasters;
Aghast at the senseless violence and mayhem.
The War To End War commenced,
As I terminated this futile existence,
With a loud curse and a silent prayer;
This leaping lunge into the death ditch!
Once, I secretly applied lipstick,
Unbeknownst to my firm-minded father,
And joyously kissed myself in the mirror.
Oh Narcissus,
Be my lover now!
For the world reels and stumbles and disintegrates,
And I have made this last leaping lunge,
This hysterical thoughtless leaping lunge,
Down, down into the deep death ditch!
While they danced, Frances
visualized her high school days.
She could hear
the 50s music
superimposed on the beats
she was hearing with her ears.
These days, they tell you where the rhythm is,
you don't have to feel it. As they danced,
bumping with the rhythm, they did not touch.
They exercised their own imaginations.
Everything is
programmed these days. They tell you
how to play and organize the moves.
They tell you how to learn and
what to learn and
threaten you with poverty
if you don't follow.
While they danced, time
bunched up at the end point.
The present moved much
slower than the past streamed in.
Her mind terminated the flow of the past
and there was a blockage that filled
the empty cells of memory.
As she moved, gesticulating
seemingly meaninglessly but not meaninglessly,
she carried a wealth in the heaviness of her.
We have to write about
reality, if we are going to write, not theory.
Theory is rarified
even if it's the most important thing.
We spend our few yearning,
hungry years here, with each other,
with our human furniture.
We don't have time
for explanation.
Paul couldn't resist.
He eventually reached out for the woman's hand
and pulled her close.
The question Remains If God is all you Have Then You Have all You Need-
I have some money a house my home;
It’s not paid for yet it’s mortgaged loan;
I have some food to eat some clothes;
A paid for car, a job
And yet the question remains
If God is all you have, well then
You have all you need;
Your homeless no job;
You live in a shelter;
Somewhat dirty, looking for work;
And yet people around you find it odd;
Your faiths like mine, hallelujah
As yet the question remains
If God is all you have, well then
You have all you need;
Been terminated from a job of 22 years;
Old enough to retire but what fears;
Money from retirement now gone..
What have I to be thankful about… well, well
And yet the question remains
If God is all you have, well then
You have all you need;
If God is all I have, well then I’m glad
I have all that I need, I said
If God is all I have, then I’ve all that I need.
Well
As yet the question remains
If God is all you have, well then
You have all you need;

froze natural pond, where over head Canadian geese did blare
honking the latest goose sip loud and clear
when from behind a bush (color of smashed pumpkin) did peek a deer
alert to any danger by parking upright either one or both ear
lest predator doth lurk and induce fear
while Harris Family and friends oblivious attired in wintry gear
which protection from cold caused difficulty to hear
necessitating cupped gloved hands to punctuate every muffled word
to be but barely heard
akin to talking with mouth full of custard
above the quiet riotous mirth from this then gawky child nerd
precariously maintaining balance on his skates and glide like a bird
such attempts made this boy appear quite absurd
ah, if only this mind of mine did two step quick think
but woe misfortune awaited across the bumpy natural rink
blithely jettisoning myself hither and yon like a rolling stone going plink
unaware while in camouflage pose disguised as one sneaky slippery fink
that snuck up in a blink
that found me squarely face down shattering left front tooth
immediately discovered via tongue as private sleuth
finding me in extreme agitated state forsooth
as if on fire from red hot chili peppers wrought from jagged booth
winning sympathy from parents who did level best to tend distraught son
who ushered playback of events with less disastrous rerun
praying for an angel to grant reverse outcome brought none
gut wrenching grief immediately terminated former fun
damage irreversible and perfect white smile forever broke con!

By Tom Wright
Jim was a loving husband, father, and brother,
who will be remembered by most for his wit.
Jimmy’s life began like a breeze
whispering through thirsty grass,
and terminated like a wagon wheel
that was two years dry of grease.
Warring with death, he became,
battled hardened as a Bois d’arc tree.
The bloodier his prognosis became,
the more abundant were his sharks.
Not once did his witticism submit to pain,
nor did he lose faith as he battled.
But when time runs out clock hands stop,
all things, too soon, come to an end.
2nd Timothy 4:7
Jim has plowed his field,
and now his harness hangs in the barn.

In the mid 80's, I took a job as a receptionist for a wholesale floral company.
Encased in a glass claustrophobic space, I answered their busy phone lines
as I gazed at the warehouse walls of greenery and the production staff scrambling to fill their daily delivery orders to florists and offices.
The days began early. We punched in at 6:00 am. I arrived in a mind fog,
downing my caffeine until my body's sluggishness wore off. It was a mindless
job and I stayed a mere six weeks at most but during that short window of time there, I had two very prophetic dreams involving co-workers.
The first and less memorable involved one of our delivery drivers. I dreamt that the police had caught him drinking while driving and he was subsequently terminated. About a week later, this dream came to fruition.
The second and must more poignant dream involved Jerry, a young flower
salesman in his late twenties. I dreamt that Jerry had fallen thru a sliding glass door. He was holding the hand of a small child, perhaps two or three years old.
It was very graphic as I saw the shards of broken glass scatter as they hit the floor. With in a few days, Jerry ended up in intensive care after a car accident with his truck. I was extremely rattled by the dream and also concerned about his welfare, although I barely knew him personally. I approached Heather, a secretary there and shared my dream with her. Heater told me that Jerry had been previously married and that he and his former wife had a child that passed at a very young age.
I might be mildly intuitive but I have never had such poignant dreams since that job. Is it plausible that I was being influenced by my green house environment there? Could it be possible that plants have always been open to communicating with us but that we humans remain mostly inattentive to their messages?

When I am angry, I am not hungry
But when I am hungry, I am angry
After all, an hungry man, is an angry man
When I am angry, heavens let loose
And inevitable occur
That sometimes I become “Lukakulised”
When I am angry
Even with my mommy
Things get scary
That sometimes I narrowly
Escape epe abiamo
I almost my father’s will
Because I will not do his will
All in the name of anger
And my father will not hesitate
Without haste
In making me suffer
From hunger
Just to quench my anger
I have destroyed years of friendship
Terminated months of emotional relationship
Killed sheep
And almost let go of decades of citizenship
Then I realized…
Anger only brings destruction
And the aftermath has never been good
Then I said to myself
I will not be angry
Even when I am hungry
Anymore…
You can also do it!
Anger is not good, it destroys
