~~~~GO ON... SON~~~~
At the edge of your nail
dancing of success
requesting for time and effort
from you, to have a grasp
I needs must sweat
to have endless acquire
What one acquires with one's sweat
goes endless years
My son, what sweat you've shed
to say it is enough
next steps that lies forth you
maybe the key to success
So relax not
in pursuing your dream.
~~~~ROSE~~~~
At the coastline of a stream
stood a beautiful rose
I wondered, had she a mermaid
but fresh from head to toe
without a fish tail
A thoughtless wind
tossing to and fro her attire
as a swaying kite
I moved to her
within her angelic eyes
A chime of lonelyness
Like a ringing-bell
My heart danced
singing song of infatuation
I wanted to say HI girl
Suddenly, I heard humming
Of a speedboat from afar
She smiled; is it for me?
Is the smile for me?
I thought
She moved toward the guy
and then into the boat
Anger smiled within me
the surf burst into laughing
I watched them
as they begin to go
till they vanished within empty space.
Fall is finally here
Yellow leaves are glowing everywhere
Big trees stand proudly in air
Sucking the energy far and near
and mingling with the crowd
I walked around the fire circle in a carefree motion
and gazed towards the heaven
for the truth that I have already known
I have heard it over and over again
But sometimes it is hard to comprehend
It is always the simple strings that tie big Kings
The trees are dancing in the clouds
And the whisperers are moving around
with a subtle grin on their faces
surveying the common places
The afternoon sun rests upon me
penetrating my body with fury
With dry hands and parched throat
I progressed hastily towards the shore in a speedboat
I closed my eyes and circle my head
and listened to the breeze whistling through the trees
Dry leaves litter the sides of the street
and the furious wind bellow upon the mountain
Fall is looming in the sun
I have waited for this moment to come
The birds are hanging out in the tree
playing with their friends and company
And naked trees are staring at you and me
Summer has come and gone
Winter is creeping upon the lawn
And blue clouds are singing in the sky.
No-one has to die
As the waters swirl around
Your feet are trapped
Or so you think
Your epitaph 'They Drowned'
You feel your neck is stretching
Your fate soon to conclude
But honestly, I see you
So without meaning
To be rude
Take my hand or grab the rope
It's not that far away
When fear or pride
Might stop you..
Live to fight another day
Don't feel you're obligated
There is no salvation charge
Just arms length from a rescue
Whether speedboat, jet-ski,
Barge
The vehicle doesn't matter
It's intent that you should see
No inclination to be tethered
You can walk away
Scott-free
Your lungs can breathe
No version where this let's you slip away
Let the peaceful air
Restore you
No-one has to die today

13th September 2023
Ever wanted to take a ride
Not now but someday.
To cool down not to run away
To take time and communicate with your pride
for it to bear with you in a certain way,
Hoping it listens to you one day.
Or ever felt like you could stride
Take a break, go on a self-holiday
Many say it is an internal getaway
But cannot because you have already tried.
If only I may,
brief you about that day.
I put my pride aside
as I discovered that I will be on a subway
with no place to stay.
Fast as a speedboat I changed my mind
as it was and still is what I obey
And hope to never disobey
Since it always has my right side.
Turn on the telle watch wives with knives
Murder on CCTV, victims lose their lives
Turn on the telle, no one write a script
There’s a post-mortem in a darkened crypt
Cops chasing crims, drunken street fights
Nothing to entertain what a load of ****
Turn on the telle, comedy nowhere to be seen
Instead, Botox tarts and live sex on your screen
Let’s turn on the telle, killer by the sea
A victim in the lift on secondhand TV
Let’s turn on the telle, Katie’s dirty mansion
Faces of the dead and worship of Charles Manson
Let’s turn on the telle, bound to be something good
A serial killers voice over, dating in the nud’
Let’s turn on the telle, bodies in black bags
Dumped in the river, by a couple of psycho lads
Let’s turn on the telle, see how he cut her throat
Battered her to death, on his flash speedboat
Let’s turn on the telle, get some new ideas
How to maim, torture, kill, down through the years
Let’s turn on the telle, see how the Kray's ruled
Sixty-nine channels of murder, has it got you fooled?

~Water Skiing,Tribute to Maggie~
Ah, indeed a summer teenage delight!
My Cousin Maggie assured me, would
make a water skier of me.
Ah, my young heart lost all frightening
premontions and took a soaring flight.
I sat on the pier, she threw me the
dauntful handle and rope.
Fear seized me, realizing the moment
to ski was indeed, here!
Her husband, Jim, was captain of
the speed boat and cheered!
It was time for me to move my
trembling, young rear!
I stood up and was on my way,
Woo-hoo and hip-hip-hooray!
At last, I was like everyone else.
Ecstatic with the water and the
speedboat as it propelled!
Alas, glory and triumph divine,
were not to be mine.
For I fell forward on my face!
And with silly pride, still held
onto the rope.
Dragged through Lake Como,
Me ~"Dope on a Rope!"
My Cousin Maggie, yelling loudly:
"Let Go! Let Go!"
I must have been in stupefaction!
Like a languid teenage halibut, I
let go of that rope.
But nonetheless,bobbing up and
down in great, jubilant summer
most memorable, satisfaction!

Poetry contests. How ridiculous. Silly even. It is like comparing:
dogs with underarms,
underarms with toothbrushes,
toothbrushes with giraffes,
giraffes with garden parties,
garden parties with throw pillows,
throw pillows with coffee cups,
coffee cups with light switches,
light switches with spitballs,
spitballs with cinnamon buns,
cinnamon buns with alligators,
alligators with rubies,
rubies with motorcycles,
motorcycles with sumo wrestlers,
sumo wrestlers with bubble gum,
bubble gum with swimming pools,
swimming pools with rabid skunks,
rabid skunks with toothaches,
toothaches with garter belts,
garter belts with police officers,
police officers with dinosaurs,
dinosaurs with sauce pans,
sauce pans with an art show,
an art show with a pumpkin pie,
a pumpkin pie with a speedboat,
a speed boat with a stepmother,
a stepmother with another step mother.
Poetry contests are silly.
R.I.P JUNIOR POPE
~~~~~~~~~
In sombre silence & mournful melody,
A threnody for one who passed on sadly,
Who lost his life without a life jacket,
Crashed without precaution on a speedboat.4
We pour a drink for a dream drenched in death
Frail fragrance of a sojourned soul loses strength.
Nollywood's noble, Junior Odonwodo Pope,
A shining star silenced, sadly stripped of his scope.8
Anonymous whispers of woe, warning winds did blow,
March 2nd marked the premonition's dreadful shadow show.
March's mournful melody mocks his mortal march,
Making many mouths murmur so much.¹²
Acting admirably, Anonymous's alarm is amply announced.
As Pope's hopes drop, the ability to live denounced.¹4
Cautioning the boat rider like a fellow bro,
His spirit knew what his mind didn't know.
April 11th, a prey of death was dealt a death blow,
Sowing hard work, he reaped death's hard luck,
While boat cruising off set, in slip sec, death struck.¹?
Solmen sorrowful song surrounds the silent stage,
Junior's jubilant jests gone, setting sun on his age.
Mourning fans murmur, memories merging with mist,
All actors, actresses & artists agitate,
Marvellous moments now memories, sorely missed.²4
Echoes of excellence extinguished too soon,
The Anonymous augured this darkening doom.
Pope's journey concludes, curtains cascade in quietly,
His legacy lingers in love, loss, and slightly.²8
