O beautiful darkness
How lovely is thee
O beautiful darkness
You can only be as lovely as me
O beautiful darkness
Even in a court of nobles
No man among you could match me
Light could only scratch
As I sit and await darkness to snatch me
Look for death and find it you shall
No man is your pal
For you can feel the jealousy as their spirits howl
So madly rash
Remain so sadly at the hash
Because you were so easily solicit
I had to become so much more explicit
Lord of paradise
A threat to all those whom care about life
For every man I rest and no man spareth
Suffer from an unforgiving wrath
Into thy hands this is what I demand
My soul, I commend, take it lord!
Let it not be lost
If it’s greed, I only ask
That these sins be faded with the frost
As this beautiful darkness is my eternal cost
O, unbidden rain I welcome you to my garden,
the flowers are thirsty . . . .
We have been w a i t i n g for you
The cosmos, daisies and red roses are hanging their heads

L rain with glistening drops gentle
And with deep love kiss each sweet petal and tender leaf
The vines are reaching out their tendrils t w i n i n g and curling
O, the pleasant petrichor scent, the delightful drip, dripping
Can you hear the flowers s i n g i n g even a green frog yells out . . .
Soothing and calming is this summer downpour,
Under the tin roof of my gazebo, I listen to the score;
Murmuring and whispering in my sadly dropping garden,
Musical, the lovely melody of utter abandon;
Ebbing and fading and then rebounding again,
Reprising over and over, a soulful song beautiful.
Rhapsodic and exuberant the pulsing sortie,
Absolute and utter is my repose, completely;
Impressive and dramatic the swaying foliage,
Nourished and totally free is my spiritual muse.
And it rained all night, becoming quite the storm. Sleep music on the roof
of my home. I lay in bed warm and cozy, listening until my eyes drooped
and closed. I awoke in the morning and the rain had passed but the streets
were flooded and the rain was gushing from the storm runoffs. I went
out to my garden and it was so tranquil and still. It seemed happy and to
me it was a dripping rainforest.
a garden d r i p p i n g
leaves heavy with the wetness-
after the rainstorm

Now I know who this dark energy is
Its been around me at work all along
I just couldn't put my finger on who it was
Until I heard that I was precious
Precious for my bleeding that is
Like the song beautiful broken
He's the nightmare I'm afraid of
He's got me in his sights all right
To toy with me like a cat with a mouse
Why couldn't I figure out til now
Red flags going off all over the place
The poem I wrote to my kids
If I die tomorrow
The poem to my manager who I think
so highly of
I was doing fine for awhile now I'm spinning
all over again
No wonder why I want to puke today
I feel his dark energy and the things
he wants to do to me
He's my sadistic broken nightmare

A Song
O beautiful indicator of the season of Vasant*
How blooming you feel in the wake of spring
My heart is still in the grip of autumn
Trying to wipe out the hidden agonies and pains
I am waiting for the clouds to shower some rains
O beautiful indicator of the season of Vasant*
The Earth is spreading its beauty in the colors of spring
And yellow flowers of mustard are singing a tune of love
The Sun has started spreading bright light on everyone
To wipe out some of my agonies and pains
I am waiting for the clouds to shower some rains
O beautiful indicator of the season of Vasant*
The colors of Holi* are waiting to get mingled in water
And the beloved hearts are trying to embrace their lovers
Dipped with the heart touching color of Tesu*
Which arouses powerful sensations in every lover
To get lost in the arms or dreams of their beloved
To wipe out some of my agonies and pains
I am waiting for the clouds to shower some rains

*Vasant = Spring
*Ritu = Season
Holi* = Color festival of Hindus in which water colors made from flower
Tesu only used to be played to truly celebrate Holi. Use of other
types of colors are a distorted form of Holi and should not be played.
*Tesu = A natural flower which leaves its colors when dipped about 12 hours
Have a beautiful enchanting effect on the skin and mind of its players.
Now very rarely used during Holi in India, but it leaves a lasting
impressions on the one who plays Holi from Tesu colors.

I was stacking hours like firewood,
planning a future that smelt of varnish and new,
counting the rungs to some polished ascent~
when Xavier, who never spoke
in anything but Excel formulas~
said it like a dropped fork:
*Life is what happens to you
while you're busy making other plans.
The room didn’t tilt. No thunderclap.
Just the steam from his mug,
drawing ghosts in the air between us.
That afternoon, rain fell sideways.
I forgot my umbrella, so I walked home
wet-skinned and giddy,
noticing how the pavement shimmered
like a dark river broken by streetlights.
Plans? I’d stacked them neat as bills~
college, promotion,
a love that wouldn’t bruise.
But the universe, it seems,
prefers graffiti to ledgers.
Now I leave my windows open.
Let the moths in. Let the drafts
carry their cold secrets.
I notice how rain tastes like metal
when you tilt your head back,
how a stranger’s laugh
can split your ribs like kindling.
I miss the train.
I live.
Others criticize me.
I live.
~and the ghost of my old plans
whistles through me, a dry leaf in a storm.
Xavier’s gone now—moved to Phoenix,
sends postcards of cacti in sunglasses~
but some nights, when I’m balancing checkbooks
or untangling Christmas lights,
his voice elbows through the clutter:
Hey. The moths are dancing.
Look up.
*Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans
