Each of us has a talent or gift within us that must find an exit. That gift need not make one a star or set the world on fire, but it must exit. Until the thing that God put within us makes an exit to bless others, there will be no rest within.

More than ten years ago, a friend was going through a divorce. When I came to learn of the matter, I felt sorry inside. It was an emotion that I had never experienced in matters of marriage. It seems that I really took it to heart and felt like doing something about it. But what? His spouse's mind was made up. The matter was settled, and the die was all but cast.

I was awakened one morning with a poem in my head about my friend's dilemma. I started to write, and it was written with the heart and voice of my friend pleading with his wife for another chance.
I emailed the poem to my friend and after a few words of encouraging compliments, he asked permission to use it with his wife. I would love to be able to say that the poem changed the destiny of their marriage, but such is not the case. But it did change something within me.

From then on, I began to write continually. My poems and stories are inspired in a myriad of ways, but the above mentioned story stands at the top. It was the beginning of a most delightful journey in writing. It also spearheaded something within me to launch forward into a desire and longing that had been within me since I was very young. Imagine. 50+ years to exit.

American Horror Story

Reading. Crying. Screaming.
Begging you to listen
You only believe what makes you feel good
You Laugh, and say "don't you know I'm a Christian?"
The only thing you question is science and empathy
Not lies, not religion, and not your racist parent's beliefs
Unconcerned with how your decisions affect us here and now
because you're so sure god is coming to bail you out
You don't have to care about the people, animals, or trees
All you have to do is say forgive me and I believe
For everyone else the pain you have inflicted is all around you
DEI roll back, labor camps, and cuts on your social security too
You scape-goat minorities despite all of the statistics
Facts over feelings would just be sadistic
Unless of course, it's to justify some racist bullship
"The minorities are the ones to blame, not the billionaire politicians!"
"Yeah!" you shout "The billionaires earned it!"
If you count fraud, tax evasion, and exploitation of employees
Now you're in too deep
You'd rather vote for fascism than admit you're on the wrong side of history
You're every republican politicians dream
You vote against your own interests in the name of hating minorities
While California is in flames and Florida is in a blizzard
You blame the libs and their weather machines
It couldn't possibly be the effects of climate change that we have been warned about for years
Soon we will have no more crocodile tears
You're so sure that Nobel prize winning scientists and economists have made it their life's mission to lie
For all of your information, you look to the orange guy
I have to say it does feel bitter sweet
Knowing you set the world on fire, but at least you'll burn with me

You'Re Always the Queen

Don't let other people define your worth...
And don't give anyone power over your self-respect and self-esteem...
You are enough... You are special...

R&B / Rap mix lyrics...

You're always the Queen
By Michelle Morris
05/11/2020

No matter who you are, you matter;
You're always special, that's a fact y'all;
Forget the complainers and the haters,
Forget the shamers and those fakers;
No one can compare with you,
Don't let their meanness and jealousy fool you...
They're just wishing they could be you...
Yeah...Yeah... Yeah now...

Chorus
'Cos you're always the Queen, no matter what cards are showing, and
You're always the Queen, no matter what
games they'll be playing, and
Even if you don't see it now, it's still real;
You're always the Queen,
So you just be chill...
You're always the Queen,
'Cos it's been divinely willed... (end chorus)

So step out and be cool now,
Step out and be you now,
'Cos no one can ever take your place
in the human race and
No one can change you but you;
You have to relate, and
Reintegrate the facts now,
They're the facts y'all...
'Cos you are unique and you're a Queen,
No matter the kingdom, whether seen or unseen...

Chorus

So remember now, remember for good,
You're always a blessing to this neighbourhood,
And no matter how far you go from here,
You're always part of the community cheer;
'Cos you're a Queen, and you always will be,
You're a Queen, and you know it's real, yeah;
Don't need the crown to show your worth now,
Just dream on high and set the world on fire,
With your sparkles, and with your charm...
You're a Queen - always disarming...

Chorus

His Favor Upon My Life

When I was born, I could have ended up
an orphan, or worse I could have been aborted,
but instead I was wanted, adopted by two wonderful
parents.
I could have been deformed and not doing well at all
but because of all the great doctors, treatments and
advice during my young life, I managed to turn out
alright.
Though I still have many physical, mental issues to
deal with, God has turned all my issues into stepping
stones... into something more.
His favor upon my life is akin to high waters bowling
me over with all their might.
Where I and others may see lack, I know that my Lord
God has got my back, for He fills me with His joy - a joy
that has no words to describe, and that which is
unspeakable is on my inside.
One of my doctors said "you are diagnosed with depression,
but you look so happy?" I told her I was blessed with the
joy of the Lord despite what things might look like.
Not every day is easy for me either, but the more I tap
into the Source which has never left me before I left my
Heavenly Father's Kingdom, and it has never left me since
I was born upon this earth...
I must never forget to be brave, because I had volunteered
to help the One and only Creator of all that is, and all that
we see and don't see as of yet...
So if things on paper don't share what God says then I must
take it on faith that I will do what I was sent down here
to do, and that my Lord will help me follow through - to remind
people that not everything is as it seems, and that our Lord
can use what appears to be weak to set the world on fire and
be used as quenching waters that devour thirsty shores.

Coasting

I pretend I'm alright
And put my best stance forward
Wear my brave face
Tryin to be smooth
Just tripped on my shoelace
What's a girl to do

Busted, razed, flat broke
My foot slipped off the pedal and into the spoke
Out of focus, idling, coasting on fumes
Myyyyy, mmmm, my oh my
Must retreat to my bedroom
For slumber; ugh - that noxious perfume
I sprayed on today
In the department store
I don't need to tell you
It reeks
That's a big pee you

Oh my
My plan has gone awry
I try to write
After listening to Vile
He inspires me
Perspiring
Thinking bout how to
Ink brilliance
Such as he
Slamming on the brakes
My leg itches
Ya damn flea

Bravado and all
I seem to fall
I spiral out of control
Resilience reels me back in

I'm a bouncy, buoyant, headstrong girl
Go ahead and believe what you want
Self deprecation is my defense mechanism

Keep playing
those cards close to your vest
You're bluffing fool
I know this by now

Prevaricator is a might big word
For liar
As you try to set the world on fire

I see you race away
And turn my head
Pretending not to see
When you visibly disgust me

You're not proving anything
With your ostentatious
Obnoxiously awesome self

Annnnnything
I ain't seen before
And won't soon forget
I'm a rhyming
tonight
Maybe filled with fright
Or could it be boredom
Delirious laughter

G'night
Sleep and clarity are what I desire
Slough off this crap

I know it's beyond time for a nap
My RPM is slowing
My aching for REM is growing

Heaven Waits

Waiting is the hardest thing to do.
Impatiently in our desire we wait to set the world on fire.
We run and jump when we are young
with energy to burn and it's so hard to wait your turn.
But as we grow we start to slow
and quickly begin to learn we still must wait our turn.
Waiting, waiting on time to pass.
Watching, watching the hourglass.
When will it be my turn to dance and when will it be my turn to take a
  chance?

Finally, you're out of school and you imagine all the possibilities
that life can bring to be.
The world is yours to see and you tell yourself, "I'm free!"
You're walking tall and proud with a briefcase in one hand
and a wallet in the other.
Now you're glad you listened to your father and your mother.

But the water is deep and filled with sharks and for your blood
  they thirst.
Sometimes you won't come in first.
Sometimes you'll learn the hard way what life is all about.
The truth is you'll work long and hard until your hair is falling out.
It's time to take your medicine and you're waiting for your check.
You're waiting for your kids to call and it's your turn to cut the deck.
We never stop waiting for something, it's true,
  but the question is:
"How long will heaven wait on you?"

Burn It Down

Burn it down
By Michelle Morris
15/07/2022

You light a match
And burn it down
You burn your life
Right to the ground

And you wonder
What you've done
Should you seek
Professional help

But your path
It's true and clear
You know what works
What you fear

Desire for
Freedom now
No longer follow
All the crowds

Chorus
Burn it down
Burn it down
See the flames
Go higher and higher

Burn it down
Burn it down
See the flames
Set the world on fire
(End Chorus)

As you watch
Those flames burn bright
You see the embers
They take flight

And they leap
And they soar
They burn down
Everything for sure

For you have set
A new course
Inspired others
With your choices

And one by one
They come to know
That their freedom
Is theirs to own

Chorus

Burn it down
Burn it now
See the world
It's all on fire

Burn it high
Burn it low
Burn it softly
Burn it slow

Burn it down
One by one
See you freeing
Everyone

Burn it high
Burn it low
It's time for everyone
To know

Chorus x2

You light a match
And burn it down
You burn your life
Right to the ground

Burn it down
Burn it now
See the world
It's all on fire

Yes, the world
Is all on fire
Embrace the fire
Of desire

Yes, the world
Is all on fire
Embrace the fire
Of desire

Premium Member Autumn - a Ballade

I catch a glimpse of you in summer deep
Your auburn tresses floating through the trees
Where at the sight of you a willow weeps
And throws her golden leaves upon the breeze
As you almost bring me to my knees
Your beauty filling me with such desire
As I turn my back on summer as she leaves

Spellbound! As you set the world on fire

I watch you wake the maples from their sleep
Burning cleaving leaves, I watch them bleed
As slowly and quietly you creep
Over meadows and fields of grazing sheep
Leaving your silhouette on the creek
As your flames grow higher and higher
As I follow, not knowing where you lead

Spellbound! As you set the world on fire

I walk through ashes falling at my feet
On a path beneath a golden canopy
And look out at where earth and heaven meet
As you blaze a trail in front of me
Onward through marshlands cattails and reeds
I see your breath rising from the muck and mire
In a rainbow of liquid crystal beads

Spellbound! As you set the world on fire

 Lost between desire and melancholy
I rest a spell, my body grown tired
And lay myself upon the dying leaves

Spellbound! As you set the world on fire

Music of the Spheres

Ambition is to play the Cello
Becoming a most talented fellow
Cellists make such sumptuous sounds
Delighting audiences the whole world round
Encouragement to take up lessons
From former cellist Hubert Hasbeen
Grimacing when he hears me play
Hasbeen lasted a week and a day
I was downhearted ~ I began to cry
Just when I spied her grandeur from the corner of my eye
Keyboard ~ Kettle drum ~ neither one did I desire
Laughing loudly I had found the one to set the world on fire
My heart it skipped a beat as I approached her silver feet
Nothing else would do for me the sound was so unique
Once I stood in front of her she smiled ~ it was so sweet
Playfully I stroked her keys as I began to feel at ease
Quivering with excitement and dropping to my knees
Resolute to practice every day and every night
Stoically determined to reach my ultimate peak
The Royal Philharmonic well they called me up one day
Unknown to me they’d heard my work and wanted me to play
Vowing to do my very best
When I auditioned with the rest
Xylophonist extraordinaire
Yells and cheers from all my peers
Zenith reached as played Pythagoras’ music of the spheres

Terrific Terry Cooper

On Mon, Feb 2, 2015 at 1:58 PM, Terry Cooper wrote:

Touched in the head a little like he is.

Yes you are a James Taylor in the making
Or where you fooling and only faking
I cook chips I don't do baking
Cakes and pies are so pains taking

I like a project I get in my teeth
Not something that can buy an early wreath
So Jim Horn are you really a musician
Or someone that mimes behind a partition

I express my desire to set the world on fire
Before I eventually have to expire
Problem was disturbing and when deductive
Process was non productive and ever so disruptive.

And to everything there may be many catches
If needed carry some matches and anti smoking patches
And you will also learn that you need latches
For all of your BS each poem catches.

Originally by Terry Cooper and slightly
And by horns have been abbreviated
So don't take any of loosely or lightly
Or else it will have to be alleviated.

You can start laughing any time you want to.
A little laugh can go a long age depending on
age, education and maturity. Be sure to save
some for me for reasons related to security.

Terry Cooper, et. al. who usually eats it all.
So what's eating you anyway.
