A place we call Home

By

Kevin L Fairbrother

The cold westerly winds rolls down the hills and across the plains
The frost on the ground as thick as a man’s hand
The air drawn in chills the body to the bone
This is the Central Plateau, the place we call home

…

Living here you need to be strong and resilient
Prepared to take what- ever Mother Nature brings
Wake to a snow blanket or biting winds and freezing rain
Or just maybe experience a hot sunny day

…

Life is hard for the high country people
Work to be done what-ever the weather
Wood to cut to keep the home fires burning
Feeding out or mustering or maybe a hunt
Keeps meat on the table and the dogs with a full gut

…

We choose to live and work in the high country
For the place is special, gives us a natural high
No place for the hustle and bustle of towns and cities
This place so peaceful, serine and quite

…

A visit to the high country an experience you will never forget
The extremes of weather, the rolling plains and the craggy mountains
The glistening waters of the streams, the rivers and lakes
The majestic Cider Gum, the snow gums and mountain heath

…

For the Central Plateau is like nowhere else on earth
For the dream time of old, the pristine wilderness
The night sky glistening and sparkling so very close
I love the high country, the place I call home

Soaring above the lake of my summer home.
Bringing back supper from arduous roam.

The oak trees lined the lake with beauty so serine.
With birds of life flying into the trees as they sing.

I gently land slowly on a pristine mirrored lake.
As my feet skid on the water, creating a wake.

Majestically, my wings flared open for my gentle rest
My young hatchlings swam to me as they leave their nest.

Gently, I nudge them back to our sacred abode.
Sharing worms with them as their beaks take hold.

Contentedly, I sighed as my love for them fills my heart.
Soon, sadness will come as they will be ready to part.

Until then, I will guide them into this life of beauty that never ends.
As I, a mother, will always watch them with love and lament.

etc., etc., etc., and the negativity just keeps steam rollering on and on, it just keeps on coming and coming, like giant waves crashing upon a serine beach, tearing it apart and depositing it’s garbage, littering what is beautiful with an ugliness that is unbefitting, yet the wellspring of understanding, desire, hope seems to be endless in it’s patience as each new day brings with it, the same old, same old as new cracks in my persona – she perceives, judges, creates and makes my reality – are put down, belittled, criticized as she, in her audacity, believes, perceives
that her creations are my realities .
These are the materials from which I should fashion the keys – if so chosen – into a solid mass, keys that would open ?,
should open the prison, the cage doors in order to set my soul, my spirit, my life free. Why do I let the essence of these potential keys come at me with such force, slapping me in the face all the time, punching me in the heart with such force it breaks in two, kicking me in the ass ?

The planet Under the Sea

I have heard of a planet under the sea

Where beautiful coral reef lies in the deep

It is where the sentiment of the earth dwells

And the passion of the universe melts

It mesmerizes your mind

And touches the core of the sky

Just look at the beautiful colors

of those reefs they are blended

With the desires of the sea

There are no sharks to feed on your flesh

And no demons to push you to your death

The planet is serine, the ocean is pure

And courage keeps you rowing on the shore

The human spirit never dies and you can

Live therefore there for the rest of your life

It’s like a piece of paradise fell from the sky

And heaven is bidding it goodbye

The Atlantis is where the music begin

The planet beneath the ocean is waiting for thee

And it will surely honor thee

I have a thousand songs that I can sing

And a recording with a beautiful rhythm

The planet beneath the sea will help you sing

The bliss has fallen from the sun and

Landed on a piece of paradise on the run

Oh what a hard earn sacrifice

The planet beneath the sea

Is he perfect home for thee.

Premium Member Words Are Like Birds

Words
are
Like Birds

They fly out of clear blue skies,
out of thick gray smother,
out of black thunderclouds,
out of serine, colourful sunsets.

Words may be like Majestic, Eagles,
swift and elusive as Humming Birds,
enlightening and silent as wise old Owls,
or as irresponsible as the Cuckoo Bird.

Words may be like god’s, Sparrows,
keen as the Hawk,
permeating as the Woodpecker,
or as elegant as Swans.

Words may be as eloquent as many a Song Bird,
or as beautiful as Peacocks,
they may be like the Flamenco,
or scavengers, like Vultures.

Words may ascend to great heights , or stoop so low.
Words soar into one’s world, upon veiled wings,
leaving their messages to be deciphered
by the discerning ear, the subconscious mind.

Words are dissipated by the winds that carry them aloft.
But seldom has their flight been lofty !!
Words, and one’s word, seldom carries any weight,
for deception seems to be word’s ever lasting fate.

We dance across the heavens, like shining stars,
to the never ending beat of our universes heart.
Its song, time – sometimes – becomes dull, grey,
aches of sentiment, in the throes of lofty sentimentality
that becomes red dew, flowering over the cornea, of a rose
releasing its sweet fragrance, ever so slightly, lightly
down the sides of its imaginary nose.
Sentiment, envy, desire, so anther life goes.

I stand on the edges of a desire,
a desire to be all that, – in this life –
I have never been, – in all likelihood –
could never be, for it is not in me.
Yet, in me, it is, as I read biographies,
autobiographies, ancient histories,
I see the dream – illusive as it seems.
Heavy sheets of liquid crystal hang,
fall before these old brown eyes.
Only, the telling comes in ripples
that dot the landscape of reflections
painted upon the cold black surface,
of a pavement that lays before me.
A sad portrait is painted every day,
it comes in the reflections, of those reflections.

Life has flown me through valleys richly
carpeted in jewels, emerald green and serine.
Life has dragged me over rough, ancient mountains,
dropped me over sharp edged, rugged cliffs.
Life has hauled me across screaming creeks,
down raging rivers without a paddle.
Life has thrown me into the fires of hell,
upon plumes of smoke, sent into the ether.
Life has guided me into heavenly spaces
where one will find beautiful places.
Life has shipped me into the shadow less abysses
of blackness where light of night stars hang
in the endless skies where one opens eyes

Life lived – looking back –seems to have been as poverty laden
as the life that lays before these tired old feet – its faden
with inactivity, motiveless, motionlessness passages of time.
The richness in both – lost to another time and state of mind.

And who really may care ?, about the poverty in both.
And who really may care ?, about the richness of both.
And who really may care ?, about the memories of both.
And who really may care ?, about the life or death of both.

With Easter at hand.
It seems the hand is the only one who cares.
Assumed death ?, assumed resurrection ?

June Flowers Rise

June fever rises, rolls on the tide of Spring
Kaleidoscopic landscape overtaken flows
Sunlight reveals colors tranquil undergrowth
Imagination grows, open to interpretation
Streaming quietly downstream in morning meanderings
Fills up with joy, calendars engagements, holidays at play
Flowers along the hillside bloom
Lift skyward soon on carpeted serine and greenery
Landscaped with you in mind
Narrow portals, corridors of time include intrusions
Such beauty rises in that sacred slower moment
In no hurry, no place to go without your light to guide
The sun comes up, erases every memory of Winter
Eye sensations coronations pretty
Shows off the lovely skin of pink
Dresses of pale petals thin begin
Worn fashionably only in this season
Bursting with enthusiasm on grasses green
That which light penetrates so easily
The dark stem, like life, is what you make of it in May
June is yellow, happy, golden fringes sing
Radiate with light as birds take flight above your hair
This is the time to drink in rain droplets from the leaf
Speak to your flowers gently to be clear
They are only here with delicious fragrance for a while
In Spring, bring plenty of blankets for a picnic
Warmth is precious
Don't step on flowers
Sip wine instead
Eat sliced French bread with jam
Enjoy the wonders on grass lands of love
An open umbrella would be nice
To shade the sun
To sit and watch the show begin
Soft rain comes clinging on the leaf
A refreshing mist rolls in
No need for speaking
June flowers say everything
Reality kissed in secret on the wind

So this is heaven
I said to the no-name frame
Of a departed loved one guide
On a drive-by tour of a place
That can only be seen in
Dreams… for now
He smiled
But he was always smiling

No, it’s a she I thought
And she seems to be
Always smiling
Always with me
Saying nothing
But everything without words

Is this heaven
I asked
Is this the place made
Especially for me
She had no smile but
Only eyes that glowed

And the serine changed
To storms
Just before the dreams
Were dreamt
And no more
		And no less
I must confess
I never knew her name
But
	Just the same
She comes back to
Show me more
When I least expect it

Imagination All Over the Place

So a cold winters chill steadies across the baron plains of the earth , ice and snow cover it like a patch blanket , with the narry a sign of life , echoing is the sound of old man winter howling and crackling as what seems the day never breaks .

A silence so Erie as to be deafening, the moon shines that shadows this desolate place of great vastness , call it the wild or call it the true test of life , it has an awesome scene of nature to be reckoned with , thus is meant for a challenge , dare to project yourself into this ominous reality.

This place of a harden atmosphere can test the bravest and strongest of any persons iron will , a question of survival tattoos the mind , to be apart of such fierce and dramatic endurance, a setting not unlike a nightmare, what is the just means , pontificating a plan that does not come to a sound conclusion.

The paradox of night and day are like twins looking into a mirror , ice and snow pelting the grass , the trees and the rocks , musically it knifes through the air so freezing as to look alive it is alive .

The wind howling , the wind burning , the wind a formidable foe , to realize its raw power can strike a blow to a once courageous will , it does not let up it never sleeps searing the soul , will it break an already tired spirit, never , never , never .

This force of nature is like a double edge sword , it plays a game of being calm and serine , even has slight repore of peacefulness, but on the it’s razor sides edge can pierce trough anything in which protects you and pushes one to the brink , trapped in its snare trapped in its ravenous plight .

Man in its vanity and narcissistic ego will not abandon this fight , it’s a such a challenge like no other , it does not quit , it will not falter , belief is what one makes of any obstacle, the strength of the mind is the one enigma the piece of a never ending puzzle , it’s vulnerablity is its valour, it’s immaculate design choose to believe choose to endure play your own game this is a virtue to be a calculated strength , peace with in , peace.
