Inspired by Ronnie James Dio song
"Rainbow in the dark".
............................................
Again, shadows dance tonight—
this time, a grim tear swims down my cheek
as the light became less dim when the
thunder struck—
the cold scolds my hold, and I lost my grip,
reminding me I am free, like the lightning.
But morning light fades into the dark;
the night has totally consumed it.
I become lonely, like a rainbow
left to shiver in a dark sky.
The ghosts of my wife and children whisper
from somewhere above the roof—
their chill cry, as they succumbed to my rage,
reverberates from a broken mirror
I left in the dark tunnel of my conscience.
I am a lie, and I am shy that I know why.
My world is lived without words,
so I only mime to a fake rhyme.
Yet the morning light is lost in the distance,
with only a single star left in the dark sky.
I am like a shadow in a crowd;
my torment is like an echo in an empty room.
There are six more who must be toasted
From the side which Internazionale roasted
On that victorious day in the sun
When in Lisbon the Champions' Cup they won.
In goal was Ronnie Simpson, the consummate veteran
Who spoiled many an opposing side's scoring plan
This was the greatest moment of a great career
Which will be spoken of for many a year.
Tommy Gemmell the flamBhoyant left back
Was easily picked out of this distinguished pack
His golden hair glinting in the sun
As he hit his cannonball shot on the run
This glorious and unstoppable equalizer
Proved to be the Celtic appetizer.
Alongside him but straightforward and sound
Jim Craig of whom St Gerard's was rightly proud
He pulled the teeth of many an attack
And played the part of safe right back
Right at the heart of the Parkhead engine room
Bobby Murdoch, whose skill could always lift any gloom
He produced that vital shot
From which Stevie his priceless goal got
Up front was Wallace of Will o' the wisp fame
Who added extra subtlety to the Celtic game
Inside the box many goals he ghosted
About which he could have boasted.
But let us not ever forget the great Jock Stein
The greatest Celtic manager there has ever been
His West of Scotland lads he shaped into a team
Adding the European Cup to achieve Celtic's dream
He was the astute mastermind behind this eleven
And brought to Paradise the nearest thing to heaven.
Every one of these men deserves to be lauded to the sky
But that remains a task for a far better minstrel than I
Now closes this poem about a team which has no equal
Whose unique victory ought to have brought a sequel.
Unthinkable
Unimaginable
Nightmarish
Devastating
Heart-rending
Knee-trembling
Insanity
Derangement
Untethered
Unhinged
A madman
almost pulled
the Nuclear trigger
in Ukraine
'cos things weren't going his way
Horror of horrors...
Kennedy faced down Khrushchev
Reagan toppled the wall
But JFK and Ronnie are long gone
We must stop Putin
Led by YOU, Joe Biden
We must stop Russia
Led by YOU, Kamala Harris
You are the leaders we've got ~
Get up off of the sidelines
and enter the fray
Take some pride in the USA
and its armed forces
ready to spring into action
at your command
Activate the best military
in the world to STOP
Russia and Putin, to
REMOVE Evil Incarnate, to
SILENCE this Monster
and his cursed countrymen
FOREVER ~
before it's too late
Rich Dodson, Ronnie King, and Kim Berly
hailed from the Western Canadian city of Calgary.
They were in a group calling themselves “The Rebounds”.
In the mid-sixties, they were creating their sounds.
Three guys left the group, and what was left was a trio.
The remaining boys would soon relocate to Toronto.
Dodson, King, and Berly went on to fortune and fame.
“The Stampeders” would be this new group’s name.
They won a lot of Canadian and American hearts
when “Sweet City Woman” hit the top of Billboard’s charts.
The group is back together, and still around today.
Watch out for them in concert. They may be coming your way.
I thank wikipedia.org online encyclopedia for the information I obtained to write this poem.
A tribute to "STARGAZER" by Ronnie James Dio
Where are you in the constellation
Where do we fit in the whip-chained nation
Towers of stone and flesh and bone
Can’t bring the sun from the shadow
Won’t save the sun from the shadow
And time has no meaning
As the dead are all leaving
Leaving all the living behind
Their voices echo in my mind
The desert sand spins
As we come to our ends
And we leave all the living behind
With their voices echoing blind
Is it far, is it far
Tell me how far
To your constellation high in the stars
Our time has come
And then passed us by
Leaving but a memory
Beneath a Neptune dark sky
Is it far, is it far
Tell me how far
To the wizard’s constellation

We three teachers were taking a painting class.
Mr.G, the teacher was new, fresh, nervous.
Asked us if we would please let him put our paintings into an art show.
Kitchia was reluctant, but Margo and I handed ours over quickly.
I begged Kitchia to let him have hers too.
He needs more for the show, I argued.
She had been bragging all the way to Des Moines how great it was.
Her husband Ronnie loved her painting right?
I begged and begged and begged and begged and begged her.
I am not usually this persistent. But I was that day. No idea why.
Except he wanted to prove himself to his daddy, the head art teacher.
She finally handed it over, after I practically tore our friendship up.
Mr. G. was going to take our paintings down, and they would be juried.
No dea what that meant, but had a weird feeling when I saw him return.
With Kitchia’s painting.
Mr. G. explained the art panel had voted not to accept it.
What? I could barely look at Kitchia. I could not look at Margo either.
Margo had seen Kitchia’ temper, but I never had.
Her cheeks were flamingo pink; she was hot. I am sorry. I whispered. .
Her cheeks turned crimson, so I knew this was wrong.
We always get an ice cream for the ride home.
I ask, “Who wants to stop for ice cream?” Kitchia has not said a thing.
“I DON’T!” she screams from backseat next to her unhappy painting.
One she said husband Ronnie loved for an hour on ride to art class.
We stopped anyway.
Margo got vanilla and I got a chocolate vanilla combo.
Air so frosty, you could not have broken tension with a hatchet.
Rode the last thirty-six minutes in silence after I gave up having conversation.
Kitchia leapt out of the car first.
She stopped at a dumpster for a second. Raised it up.
Threw painting in and stomped off, still angry, furious, obviously hurt.
“And you had to beg her to put it in the art show,” Margo said.
I felt like a dead dime.
We saw each other at school, and I tried everything to be friends again.
She gave me another chance, but it was never the same.
No matter what, our laughs and smiles were stilted after that.
I still felt remorseful every time I saw her.
A stale, lukewarm second chance.
I learned one valuable lesson though.
When someone is reluctant to do something, keep your mouth shut.
In a bed
not far away
His mind is gone
but body lay
Slow, but quick
He leaves today
A handsome man
Just barely gray
Many sad
But few will weep
The kind of soul
We couldn’t keep
Common knowledge
Bitter sweet
It’s time to lay
Him down to sleep
He was born
Into a time
Parents young
Beer and wine
Witnessing
Them blur the line
He caught Hell
Every time
The apple fell
But ceased to roll
A little man
Boyhood, stole
They helped him pack
He hit the road
With no direction
Or place to go
Soon, white powder
Lines of gold
A young boy
Becoming old
He couldn’t change
Refused to try
Many talked
Sister cried
Years passed
But not enough
The life of the party
Is looking rough
Too tired to fight
Too stubborn to try
No time, polite
To say goodbye
