MUNCIE, MASON, BALL U & DICKS
Drove my in-laws to a wedding,
turned into quite a haul.
Not invited, I had time left over
after finding Muncie and Ball.
A stranger in paradise
with nothing to do,
I tooled the campus
of magnificent Ball U.
Only in America,
could this location be true.
The North end of South Dicks,
runs into Ball U.
Certainly not the first
or last man alive,
conjuring the humor of this union,
after a boring, six hour drive.
Fast forward to the present,
although technically still alive.
Estate plans and lawyers are important
if found unable to thrive.
Wanting cremation and
thinking of a suitable urn,
needed something big to hold
my “stuff” after I burn.
Searching the net for a
perfect and sentimental fit.
Thanks to Ebay, I said;
“Damn, that’s got to be it!”
That Ebay search turned up a
Blue “Perfect Mason Ball” jar.
The ½ gallon size fits in the
crowded trunk of a family car.
A homage to my passed mother,
whose canning didn’t quit.
Perfect Blue eyes, middle name
is Mason, everything should fit.
20 years ago I went to Muncie,
the memory still sticks.
I request old Masons’ ashes be
spread, where Ball U, hangs over the Dicks!
*100% true story about Muncie Indiana and Ball State Univ named after the Ball company
that makes Perfect Mason, Blue and Green canning jars. The streets intersect the campus.
As I gaze out upon the blue ocean,
from my perch, on the cliff above .
The incoming storm, hovers close by,
I am watching battering waves, smash
the rugged coastline shore below.
The blue waves blend with the distant blue sky.
The once sapphire ocean now becomes steel blue
As the storm rolls in, the ocean, ever changing hues.
The waves smash, blend and churn creating
Cauldrons of undertows merging with rips
Battering with a powerful gale force.
As lightning zig- zags across the deepened sky
I head for shelter from the incoming rain
Knowing I will return again to look at ocean blue.
Francine's contest- blue on blue on blue
Phyl the ocean
thanks Francine
Oiled and bronzed
In cupped pose
Her wetted hair
The want in me grows
Silhouetted
Against the moonlight
Beside the blue lagoon
Her curves of delight
She turns her head
As she looks into my eyes
Sultry and steamy
On the cooling sands we lie
Tethered together
By capturing arms
Under the light of the moon
We share our charms
In sync we caress
With the sounds of the waves
Our tongues fencing
As our lips crave
Two become one
On this moonlit night
The love of two
In wonderful delight
We arise from the sands
Beside the blue lagoon
Walking home hand in hand
Our hearts in loving bloom
