The overwhelming noise of the world
lands on hardened ears that have learned to ignore,
tune out, and selectively seek out the tones that are pleasing
and bring solace to their tired drums
Like the sweet silence of the night,
the chirping of a lone cricket in the night,
the low croaking of the bullfrog,
a coyote's drawn out howl across the night sky
Sweet silence fills the air
soothes the soul
giving it time to recover
from the harsh discords that fill the day
easing the fears that well up inside
and threaten to wipe out my identity
Silence is a sweet surrender,
to the longing inside to be free,
wild as the hummingbird on the breeze.
Goosebumps and all
I lay
Under a bed of stars
Sparkling across the night sky like a diamond mine
Chinese Lanterns in the sky, hanging far from my reach
To guide me through the complexity of the darker night
The solitary moon and I Gaze at one another other
Parallel in nature, we hang back from the rest of the world
She, plagued by her cyclic nature,
And I, sickened by the cynicism that only a broken heart can bring
She pulls at the ocean, wishing for affection from the shore
And I, push away any attempt at sincerity
But she must fall as the day grows young,
And I must rise to the possibilities
My chest wall aches, as it fills with hope and the cold night air
This must be how a second chance at life, and inner peace must feel
Then the wind blows through the willow trees
The crickets move their bows together in symphony.
They made an overture, for the performance of only one
This is my song,
my new harmony

It's over
like staying up all night waiting for the perfect sunset only to be ruined by the rain that pours
all over it.
the delightful song
of my cellphone is dormant
Or
possibly in a coma
Exhuasted from the back and forth texting we implored on it.
compulsively I pop open the samsung like a fish peeking above the surface
hoping to find something that sustains, or makes us feel that we have a purpose
but it's over
It was glorious while it lasted
Like a monarch butterfly taking flight, painting the sky with an auburn fire
I was your phoenix...
But I was unable to be reborn for you
I wish you knew.... what an incredible impact you've made on my life
You are my muse
Everything that I works towards... is for you
My life currently was not made for two
No you.
No late night fights that end in slammed phones or apologetic desires for passion
so I recognize that it's over
and that I have a lot of growing up and sacrifice to do.
Goodbye friend, How dearly I shall miss you
