When youth was ripe and strong
And accomplishment was infantile
Future was but an un-walked pathway
Stretching the distance to today.
Events and persons still unknown
Would fill history yet to be made
Written in tears of joy and tragedy
Propelled by footsteps seeking the undiscovered.
Steep slopes of the unattained
Warm valleys of the accomplished
Appeared on the pages of Life
As Youth was absorbed by maturity.
Fine-tuning of accumulated lessons
Tempered and became wisdom
Prejudices revealed their baselessness
The realization of wasted time displayed its' folly.
Sunset is neigh
Legacies become epitaphs
Needs become non-existent.
Age introduces … eternity.
Here we remain in bafflement,
The reasons for this firmament.
We rant and rave and offer prayer
but nothing seems to get us there.
We write bold texts and think we're done
And yet they don't explain the Sun,
The whirling disks that orbit space,
Or, reasons for our earthly place.
We think, we marvel, and eschew
Our best digests of "What" and "Who"
And "How" and "Where" and even "When"
But, then we come to one more "Then."
The biggest question of them all,
It's on this quest we rise and fall.
The one that underpins the rest -
It's "Why" that puts all to the test.
It overshadows all concerns,
And understanding will discern
The pathway to the Truth we seek
Of why we're here - no double speak.
Then comes the next subset of "Whys" -
Diverse divisions long devised;
The "false" discretions set in place:
Religion, ethnic space and race.
These "Whys" seem an experiment
Of how we deal with prospects met.
Should we accept things now in place?
Appreciate - no saving face?
Or, should we seek to overcome
The obstacles life has become;
To unify and thereby rest
Divisive human trials and tests?
Yes, "Whys" should keep us up at night
For they explain the "Wrongs" and "Rights"
Of our existence here on Earth;
Our Souls grip on eternal worth.
Yes, we can argue lesser quests -
The hows and whens and all the rest.
But "Whys" are what it's all about;
Both "old" and "new" - without a doubt.

I entered gates that were rusty and old, worn with age,
This eternal resting place filled my soul with sadness;
The time of the year did not help, barren trees hanging low,
Dried up withered flowers lay forlorn on rows of graves.
I followed a pathway taking me deep into the maze of sorrow,
Many stones difficult to read, erosion and time destroyed;
Some were simple crosses and others pristine granite markers,
I crossed over a bridge above a rippling stream.
Dark valleys lay before me and toppled statues rest in peace,
This scene of sadness holds a place in my soul forever;
For among the burial plots, vaults, crypts lays a beloved memory,
Of my childhood cat, Snowball, forever in this place.
This pet cemetery, serene and tranquil,
And I still weep . . .

In the existential dualist realm,
with dark and immoral traits,
irreducibly distinct from the righteous strength,
human being breathed as God’s generous gift
the divine breath of fufilled life,
the source of creativity for love and harmony.
The enlivening enlightenment window
lets in the sacred sunshine of virtue,
highlights the positivity of the psyche,
enhancing the character strength,
the fountain flow of generosity and empathy
that finds the liberating pathway of spirituality.
The spiritual journey is a serene movement
from vice to virtue to high stratum of consciousness,
achieved by introspective dissolution
of the rigid concepts through transcendence,
as the separation of outside-in and inside-out dissolves,
virtue permeates the non-dual awareness.

I count the weary footsteps of the ultimate walk,
with the mind immersed in hazy contemplation,
for I cross the misty milepost
of the penultimate pathway,
at the fading fringe of the future obscure.
The waning tune of the chromatic strings
of the setting sun in the twilight zone
reverberates the requiem
for the skeletal shadow, silhouetted forlorn
against the sundown skyline of transient radiance,
witnessing despondent
the last sand grain mark the trail of destiny
in the cauldron of time,
illumined by the final flash of the decayed day,
dying.
The tarnished lattice of the sky’s blue fabric,
interlaced seamlessly with consuming cleavage
of the diffusing clouds in swarming storm,
ravages the unwary horizon, halcyon once,
like the still air before the squall,
marks the chameleon shift of the pallid colors
on the convoluted canvas of the vanishing corridor,
rips up the last stones of the frail pavement,
crumbling.
Deformed shards of the splintered sky
spin in gyrating gale with fragmented shadows
of terminal torment on the dismal convoy
of the curled-up bleak clouds.
The remnant rays of sanguinity sparkle still
in the departing flare of the sinking sun,
drowning the montage of the disowned memory,
compose the latent melody of the unsung dreams
with fossilized life’s incoherent cadence,
sequestered in the spectral lyric of sunset swansong,
resonating.

Living in Scotland as I am
winters in recent years are quite calm
but in recent weeks forecast was bad
winds come from Siberia to cause alarm
Then this week heavy snow came
the likes we've not seen before
continuously it rained down everywhere
we had to stay in shutting the door
Everything was off buses, trains the lot
all the schools closed kids shout hurrah!
couldn't even clear your pathway
it was so cold below freezing all day
When will this snow decide to go away?
forecasts say there's more to come
well pull the hatches down and pray
hibernation - a good idea! yea I feel numb!
(Here in Scotland, it's been really cold with snow and bitter winds coming from the east, Siberia seems to be the culprit. But it's below freezing all the time with real cold winds and drifting snow, even the shops have no basics like bread and milk but no matter we'll survive.)
Kneeling in prayer, I ask God for wisdom today;
Can you hear me God in your sanctuary way up high?
Yes, God knows my soul for he is my true pathway;
And I hear God's silent words falling from the sky.
As graceful angels sing me a sweet lullaby;
Oh God, I am darkness with feet stuck in clay.
Be still child, I will send the gentle gardener is his sigh;
Kneeling in prayer I ask God for wisdom today.
Then, mother comes to me on the wings of a blue jay;
Oh, no more capable messenger was my thankful cry.
For she was truly a gentle soul always blissful and gay;
Can you hear me God in your sanctuary way up high?
Mom planted a garden for the bird, bee and butterfly;
her flowers were wild, tangled and often went astray.
I was her assistant till the day we had to say bye;
Yes, God knows my soul for he is my true pathway.
Mom has wisdom boundless and I confide just like yesterday;
She has patience and listens till I feel that I have wings to fly.
Tells me, I have potential and will bloom like a flower in a sun ray;
And I hear God's silent words falling from the sky.
I am at peace in my soul now but I must ask God why, why?
Why is her wild tangled garden at our old house in decay?
Why did my young gentle gardener mother need to die?
Mom, remember how in lush meadows talking, we would lay.
Kneeling in prayer, I ask . . .

"The future depends on what you do today."
- Mahatma Gandhi
The future's made from stepping stones
well placed with every morning sky.
Each new tomorrow meets unknowns
in how they're shaped and how they lie.
And each tomorrow follows plans
of how and where the pathway leads;
designed by heart and soul that hands
direction for its wants and needs.
Yesterday, today, tomorrow-
are linked in meeting that huge goal.
Good or bad, each joy and sorrow
is bound together as a whole.
One stone each day- there's no escape
to help our future grow and shape.
Pain is often the fountain of direction in our lives
We will experience rejection in this life
But it is the pathway to the direction we often need!
The hunger for progression must meet rejection!
In the depths of our understanding
We know that there is more because we want more!
The cure for passivity will be something that shakes us
And this will make us move in another direction
Rejection is therefore a way forward
It is a way to start something new!
Many will face rejection in many departments of life
However, in order to see the light of life
The coldest situation is often placed upon you
But remember, not rejection but direction!
Sometimes we are asked to enter a destiny through rejection
If we really want more of ourselves and our purpose in life
Then, we must walk through the process of rejection
Because in the end, our love will be measured through the darkness!
