War Dogs of Bagram Airfield Afghanistan

Bagram airfield the Ugandans handled the bomb dogs.. heading back to my CHU after a mission i would see them for their morning walks.. one dog famously wore motorcycle goggles, story is he took a blast of rocks in the face and survived but was partially blinded.. apparently his sniffer still worked and he could see well enough to do his job.. cool doggy

There were 40,000 people on that base and most armed to the teeth. several thousand were local nationals. Trucks in and out all day.. those dogs were a necessity, god love em. i played with them as often as i could. The Ugandan dudes were cool as f' ...

Premium Member Colored Bottles

Please please, I don't wanna go to sleep.
Let me stay up I won't make a peep!
It seems like the grownups have all the fun.
Look at those cool bottles, can I have one?

You are so silly you make me giggle.
Dancing around your belly jiggles.
Being sent to bed just isn't right.
Why do you get to stay up all night?

I walk away with my head hung low.
I'm listening but I'm moving slow.
In my bed I can't wait to be grown.
King of the house sitting on the throne.

I would make the rules stay up all night.
I'm angry as you turn out the lights.
You kiss my forehead and go back to play.
The smell from your breath is far from okay.

I bury my head and close my eyes.
Wait for the morning when I can rise.
I rise before you so I can drink.
Colored bottles will make my breath stink.

Age 7, I would sneak drinks from the partially filled beer bottles
that were sitting around the living room after a party.

Premium Member The Seashell

Nostalgic memories when I was young
Of taking long trips along the Maine coast
I loved to go to the beach and have some fun
When life was simple and fun was foremost

It was a long ride along a windy scenic route
While watching for the landmark of the dinosaur rock
My parents laughed, my Father sang, it was a hoot
I knew we were there by the many seagulls in flock

I ran to the changing room, ready to wear my new suit
It was bright purple flowered with a matching towel
I felt like a model knowing I looked stylish and cute
I walked down to the waves, ready to swim for a while

I walked along the beach looking for colorful seashells
Climbing up and over large rocks looking for beach treasures
Admiring pretty pink rose bushes, taking in all the beauty and smells
I spotted a large blue iridescent seashell, huge in measure

It was still partially stuck and buried deep in the salty wet sand
As I dug it out, and turned it over, I saw it held a tiny sea creature
I decided to not keep it that day, and gave the little creature a hand
I threw it back into the water, walked on looking for other shell keepers

Premium Member Partially To Blame

I can no longer pretend
the lies you tell me are true.
And if they don't quickly end
our relationship is through.

Expecting kisses and beers
you can't make sense of it all.
For you are greeted with tears,
and an emotional wall.

You claim you never cheated,
acting like someone deranged.
And I wasn't mistreated,
citing the vows we exchanged.

Tears choreograph the dance
as forgiveness is pursued.
And you beg another chance
hoping to soften my mood.

But the truth levies a toll
in the form of pain and shame.
And a small part of my soul
feels I'm partially to blame.

Unfinished

My heart aches knowing there was no reconciliation,
Without reason or explanation,
I have never left anyone hanging in mid air,
I always have good reason and care,
It burdens me to know it was left unfinished,
It is partially my fault, because you know We both made assumptions,
And if I could go back and change the situation,
I would tell you how much I cared and ask for forgiveness,
Things are different now and I feel it's too late,
Would it change everything or would you act the same way,
You have probably forgotten, but I still remember,
And I pray that one day God brings us together,

Premium Member Grownup Games

When you insist on playing grownup games,
you've only yourself to blame if you lose.
And though some signs can easily confuse,
smoldering embers don't equate to flames.

Innocence can't protect you from love's pain,
like a moth; you're attracted to its flame.
And though it burns, you crave it all the same,
risking all, over and over again.

Unskilled in deceit and detecting lies,
you naively believed his love was true.
And yet, trust was partially the blame, too;
betrayal came as a shocking surprise.

You feel like drowning in a pool of tears,
devastated, you're unable to cope.
And you're clinging to fragments of hope,
as possibilities morph into fears.

He swaggered off and didn't even look back,
his departing laugh, flippant and cruel.
And sobbing like an incoherent fool,
you're having an anxiety attack.

Premium Member Singing Spring

Singing in the rain under partially clouded skies as light blue colors

Peep from the open canopy creating energy in an ocean of ecstasy.

Right after the rain recedes, Mother Wind breezes an arresting fragrance

Inhaled with the deepest of gratitude along with the hope of deflated pollutions.

Never mind that bright sunny summers filled with microwave heat are near,

God's Spring is so pure and exhilarating, even if only of short duration.

Premium Member Speak, Hear and Medically Well

As I look out upon this new year
my wishes and hopes are threefold
looking up to God to smile down here
His providential care to ever hold

To be more in control of my speaking
putting my stammer behind me to be better
learning to cope with stress and nerves
slow down speak softly sentence and letter

Even being partially deaf holds one back
you miss out on hearing on whats said
wax collects in the ear blocking off not to hear
no more silence around me just to hear instead

My PSA has been reasonably very good
six monthly tests mostly been little above zero
praying these PC results to stay right here
praise God for Jesus touch keep me clearo

These are my goals for this 2019
looking up high to my Lord and king
my life is in His mighty hands totally
all my prayers to Jesus do I bring

Magic Spell

To explain its efficacy to the point,
sympathy of nature becomes anoint.
The agreement of opposite forces,
like or unlike potential endorses.
Converged in multitudinous attraction,
divine utterance and holy fraction.
Spell binding dependence strife,
primal sorcerer and magi arts live.
Ensorcellations by being a fan,
upon another one of the clan.
Love induce mutual approach,
becoming a soul to soul coach.
Evocation and invocation of living things,
wisdoms and virtues liberating wings.
Enchantment in greatest demand,
like prayer and its fascinated wand.
Wrought like musical strings that vibrates,
into a third dimension migrates.
Perception in image of harmony,
affecting others quiet partially.
Sympathy constituted in contraries,
echoes of divine companies.
The soul that knows its history,
is aware and a tuned mystery.
Her source poised to the intent,
the magic spell and cosmic content.

Premium Member A Turkey's Letter To Santa

Dearest Santa, it's to you I write
To enlighten you about our plight
Isn't the Christmas all about peace?
If so you must listen to our pleas

We are the turkeys, Grown for Christmas
Genetically selected, fattened for meatiness
Often in pain due to hip degeneration
Cannot lift the feet in this situation
When in a natural habitat, we can fly
And roost in trees and watch the night sky
But in the factory, overweight and over fed
We shuffle along and cry in a dimly-lit shed.

Lack of respect for nature's wisdom
Profits have compromised birds' freedom
Male birds are brutally manhandled
And the beaks are partially amputated
Mother turkeys are inhumanely violated
Yet, they never see their eggs hatched
The little ones never know the mother's touch
How can the man be as cruel as such?

The eggs are taken, as they are laid
To be hatched in an incubator, man made
When hatched, they are kept in large units
Thousands packed together for mega profits

Dearest Santa, I am not exaggerating
There is much cruelty in factory farming
Slaughter is another harrowing process
Some have long journeys, crammed into crates.

Now that you know our story of woe
Dearest Santa, may I please ask you
Point a way forward for the human world
Toward a society that cultivates and uphold
Values such as compassion and peace
Only then this cruelty can cease

At Christmas time when the world is at ease
The children sing with joy and peace
When you visit with gifts and greetings
Whisper to them about our grievances
It's too late now for my generation
But, the future adults may see liberation
