While the past still overshadows my dreams
At times, I see the forest in spite of trees
Huge oaks – leaves of doubt fading from their limbs
Silent pines, wistful stories falling in cones of shame
Whirlybirds from maples, feeling lost amid the chaotic world so grim
While the past may feel like a cloak of sorrow
Dimming the light of joy and peace, such grief
In distant eyes, pain breaking through the branches of hope
Starlight weakening, prevented from glistening with still life
As the melancholic, the lonely, invite the tones of distrust so overpowering
While the past plays its song, warring with serenity
A gentle tear caresses a cheek, breathing intimacy
Forgiving what the world can’t see, the fears so sensitive
Pouring out their blank stares, revealing the tear stained breath
Colors of gray, destined – fate revealing the ways of disgrace and despair
While the past remembers only the sad, the wrong, the dark
My heart seeks the only One who can forgive that old song,
The one that proved to me that I had a need, and I believed
So He set me free from me – the old is gone and I can say I belong
To the Son of God and I’ll keep moving on, pouring out my heart, my soul…
Forever, He is light – He is love – He is hope
He is the One who taught me what it means to see
The forest despite those trees – that reveal the worst I’ve been
Reminding me, once again, He saved me so I have a friend in Him,
The One who taught my heart to seek and the One who gave me such sweet peace!
As I sit here writing my next prose,
It has begun to snow,
Its beauty overshadows the end result.
I know that come tomorrow I will need
to shovel the driveway,
If I want to get out and about.
Then I start thinking about the
warmer days of spring and summer.
I really can't watch the grass as it grows,
but I know I will eventually need to cut it back,
weekly-seems like a big deal to me.
The leaves of autumn eventually end up on
the ground and need to be raked and bagged,
several times a season if need be.
All of these things require a great deal of effort,
except for the winter snow, it is the one deal breaker.
If I so choose, I can just stay in, until it melts,
and just enjoy the beauty, in all its splendor.
Ok...who am I kidding, Kohls department store has a new summer clothing
line that comes out tomorrow, "honey, where's the snow blower?"
It’s your love
That causes me to gasp,
Trembling within
Because you know me
Like the shadow knows the light,
Like the autumn knows the gathering,
Like the dewdrops know the gentlest kiss…
It’s your love
That seems to smile,
Answering all my doubts
With assurance that you’ll always be…
The acceptance, the warmth, the sensitivities,
Who bring out every smile, each dream
With a kindness that overshadows my fears,
A music that restores all my faith in what is real,
Teaching me to give without conditions,
To live like it’s the last time for me to clearly see…
The wonder of a love that is so authentic,
A love that resembles everything
I’ve ever dreamed love could be!
It’s your love
That encourages me to see
Past the doubts, the darkness, the despair
Into the realms of sweetest peace,
A place where your love has the capacity,
Preparing me to give my adoration, my sincerest gift
Love that shines hope into the smile,
Love that brings music to the song,
Love that reaches into the depths of the heart
With a beautiful belief that tells the story of what it means…
To love with a wonder that loves unconditionally!
Christmas is full of all emotions
Mood blue and melancholy
Deep in a dark drawer
- Not so much jingle bells
The darkest time of the year,
woven into a web of expectations
Read the writing in the pristine sand
not impossible or invisible
- emotions are allowed
Spill pink ink with gold shimmer
when adversity overshadows you
Blue ... is a joker
Offer each other space
by releasing difficult feelings
Life experiences,
don't just have simple answers
Halfway to the answer -
humanity and love
Where earth and sky meet
... time for reflection
Thank You, God, for your grace
For your joy, hope and peace
Thank You for the way You change
Hearts from hard to hearts who
Believe in a love that is alive inside
Where Your spirit overshadows
All the hardness – the loathing
That comes from a heart who
Doesn’t truly know Him, a heart
Who doesn’t sincerely believe
That His Son, Jesus, was the One
To bring salvation to His people
Thank You, God, for Your wisdom
For Your light shining in the dark
Calming every worry, destroying
All the depression that tries to
Fill hearts with silhouettes of doubt
Feelings that cause a life to abound
With despair, dread and everything
That makes the heart feel so down
Thank You, dear God, for Your kindness
The warmth that You color our life with
The sweetness of a love that lingers inside
Where we can always know it will bring to life
Joy that overflows the doubt, wonder which
Allows the spirit to breath in the beauty
Of inspiration and imagination, peace that reflects
Whispers of astonishment and prayers
Filled with the knowledge of a light
Which never fades, a light that spreads
Its rays across the spirit, into the life
Of the one who listens to the sound of hope
Falling from the heavens where He gives out
Assurance that we have the answers to our prayers
In the One who gave us a second chance,
Forgiveness of our sins and a sincere confidence
Within where we can feel His love filling us up
With the spirit that is His gift – His hope
The wonder of His spirit guiding us to become
People who shine a light across the entire world
A skittish sun silently slips away,
as a dank darkness overshadows day.
And, with their outdoor fun placed on delay,
all of the children rush indoors to play.
A cloudy sky, synonymous with grey,
signifies that a storm is on its way.
And as a sprinkle grows into a spray,
everyone seeks shelter like frightened prey.
Lightning evokes images of doomsday;
Nature's fearsome fury, on full display.
And when strong winds blow life in disarray,
the fabric of time and space seems to fray.
But a thunderstorm swiftly starts to stray,
as exhausted clouds mask its getaway.
And a shy sun soon leaves its hideaway,
as the rest of the day gets underway.
I walk through the pristine green
Follow the footpath around
And finally arrive at the unkempt
Natural burial ground.
The field has matured over
The past ten years
The Hawthorne now overshadows
The seat where I shed my tears.
Just a wild meadow now
No memorials or stones
Just a small wooden pegs
Over each repository of bones.
I kept my promise to you,
To survive and live on
Though the pain was intense
The first year after you’d gone.
But, all pain eases with time
And I learned to cope with life
Found the joy of a new love
With a loving, caring wife.
I don’t come here often now
But somehow I have to let you know
You gave me strength to continue,
I’ll never let those memories go.
Oh Child Do You Know A Father’s Love:
Oh child can you feel the sweet touch of a father’s hug
that caresses worry away and fills the heart with love
a foundation for your life with actions of great intent
and abounding selfless devotion with no regret
Oh child do you realise the sacrifices to be made
hand in hand as he gently guides your every move
pride in watching your independence blossom
but fearing life will call you from his protective arms
Oh child can you see how his heart aches as he picks you up
giving you courage to face adversity wiping away the tears
the hurt in his eyes when trust is broken by wilfulness
but forgiveness in abundance and unfaltering love
Oh child savour the joy as he looks upon your face
as your eyes meet there is reflection of his younger self
words unspoken but a smile shared with the same tilt of the head
emulation of him in so many ways to leave no doubt
Father and child sharing such special moments
engrossed in happy conversation that overshadows
the challenges to come that will test their bond
Comfort of the soul when cocooned in his caress
and for that special moment, life is kept at a distance.
Humanity Upon the Falling
Catastrophic predictions for humanities future
Another universal wound that needs an international suture
A forced appropriation into sacred laws and culture
A non linear approach to living by an exhibitionist social vulture
Wondering through the alleyways of regret, loss and fear
Meandering through a lonely day I’d prefer to forget through all the tears
Pandering to an overt display of the signs of decay formed over the years
Gandering at an intelligent play of counteroffensives that draw the enemy near
Culminations of interstellar events that illuminate the sky
Promulgations of technology filled with cement as they play with concept and design
Insubordination at the elements of counterfeit disguise
Unco-ordination of the prevalent response to human rights upon demise
Distinct notions of postulations on beauty and manifestation
The precinct motions for consultations while refuting the observations
As instinctual devotions summon the sun, sky and oceans while computing the conversations
And intrinsic commotions of the expression of emotions form while convoluting their invocations
Exploitation of a man’s political ideals
Importations of a lands empirical repeals
Considerations as he stands for unequivocal honesty in what he reveals
Commiserations as she commands her right to inadmissible evidence in the face of extremist zeal
Fortitude when considering the future of the human race
A child exudes the embodiment of heavenly dispensations of grace
A mild interlude of admonishment as they misinterpret the expression on your face
A wild vicissitude of capital punishment that needs legislation to replace
Fine tunes of personal exaltation as radiance falls from the distant sun
High moods of verse and imitation as recompense overshadows all the fun
Shy exudes of terse limitations as malcontents mellow out the place of number one
Why be so rude to visitations as many circumvent homeostasis as the humans discharge their guns

The End
I...I'm... frightened, trembling, and sobbing intensely,
It tormented me for years, now... it overshadows me again.
My... weak heartedness and the anxiety it caused,
I am owing, to be made an example, in debt to its pain.
I...I...scarcely survived, its last advance,
However, this time...I have no chance.
My heart is racing, my head spins
I’m helpless and must confess that it wins
I have no way of shielding its onslaught
For it has portrayed itself as a friend, my soul is caught
Alas the only thing left is to give into its will
And let love take its course, let love have its fill.
