In the dark alley of time thoughts wander lost
as the split heart stumbles in emotive pitfalls.
The frailty of the indistinct fragile future
casts the shadow of despair on inherent acuity
that dissipates in the tormenting wilderness,
making the errant spirit mystified in mortal polarity.
The search for a lighted pathway to escape
and to carve an egoistic shape for the divided self,
configures the essence with contrasting elements,
chasing the migrant mirage of illusive opulence
until in the mended mindscape sprouts sagacious sense,
not to be allured by the impermanence of duality.
With the fusion of polarities in infinite euphoric realm,
the spiritual passage across the perception stratum,
achieved by the introspective amalgamation
of the twofold notions through transcendence,
merges the division of outside-in and inside-out,
as innate harmony integrates the multiplicity of the self.
Detached from the confused life’s binary threads,
awareness sinks in the depth of eternal singular psyche
where time is consumed in timeless deep silence,
the joy of living dances to the tune of God’s grace
with the pristine perception that rises from abyss.
The soul then is the supreme acumen of benign bliss.
Here where the hibiscus and the palm tree sway,
December wears a mask, a sun-baked day.
The air is dense, a solemn, muggy sigh;
No frosty breath to hang the winter sky.
The calendar integrates as the year grows old,
But the earth, a young bride, refuses the cold.
No white covering quells the green-clothed land,
Just ocean rumors on sun-drenched sands.
We seek where the stones stand, as assurance’s strong,
A parable of familiarity where we truly belong.
It should be brimmed with ice, a silent guard,
But the tropical heatwave makes the vigil hard.
The stone stands, a heart, unmovable and true,
Yet the absence of snow paints a sky too blue.
This December is a clock with hands reversed,
A winter’s tale delightfully dispersed.
We are the trees, confused, with leaves so bright,
Awaiting shadows that won’t take their flight.
The island dreams of silence, sharp and deep,
While the warm waves roll, a secret it must keep,
That the soul of winter is not in the flake’s soft fall,
But in the resilience of the stone standing tall.
The sun, a fiery bear, keeps the cold wolf at bay,
In this warm December, the stone still holds its sway.
The earth requires it there.
The poets do not like the lyrics.
As the tsunami approaches the lands

A Lady Waits
The sleepy sea massages a creaking ship which slowly navigates
through blackness the sky emanates and the great Atlantic integrates.
A sailing school of serenading seagulls dips and dives and celebrates,
and amongst the sea-sick shipmates, a welcome murmur swiftly circulates.
A wave of steerage class splashes onto the seaweed-soaked stern and congregates,
viewing a line of lights which levitates on the horizon it incubates.
As fingers point to a distant shore, the name “America!” reverberates.
The salty air invigorates, and the chorus of commotion escalates.
A cry pulls the tide of faces to the rear row of citizen candidates.
Her wind-whipped shawl barely insulates the ravenous newborn she placates.
As if Moses were parting the sea, the silent congregation separates.
Gleaming with gratitude, she glides to the front rail the moon illuminates.
As her baby’s throat pulsates with mother’s milk, through lash-locked lids he fixates
on the Emerald Empress whose torch radiates on the dreams she consummates.
Beholding the beacon who beckons brave believers, his mother boldly states,
“When this restless night abates, the misty morn of a daring dawn elates,
but tonight, sleep well my child … for across the harbor, the lady waits … ”
