Alpharhymitize
(the first alpharhymized poem – by definition)
By Franklin Price
2/26/2017

Alpharhymitize - I think I've coined a word
Because it is most likely, one that you have never heard
Can you think about it? Have you heard this word or not?
Don't believe it is a thing, thought I'd give this word a shot
Each word has an origin, thought I'd give this one a go
For you to make one also, just think and make it so
Get in your mind, a thought or two, a new word you can make
Have a definition also, to make some sense, for goodness sake
I don't really give a crap if it's stupid or it's quaint
Just don't present it as a new word, if you know it really ain't
Kangaroo is taken, so is aboriginal digeridoo
Look elsewhere to find another, to find something that is new
May find it as a new name for a plant or element
Not always found on purpose, some are found by accident
Only by trial and error, can you make a word that's new
Preposterous or simple, it is something you can do
Quit trying hard and slow down, you will find it in your head
Remembering is very hard, you should write it down instead
Simple words or hard ones, are for you to perceive
Then go and find some other folks, whom you can make believe
Unless you bring the word up front, and bring it to the fore,
Very unlikely, it will be used, that you will make the score
When you have coined a brand new word and put it on the page
Xerox some copies, send them out, tweet to make it all the rage
You will never know, unless you see how it will fit
Zero will always happen, if you don't get down to it

Alpharhymitize – to compose a rhyming poem beginning the first line with “A” and each subsequent line with the next letter of the alphabet until “Z” begins the last line. Poem must rhyme in couplets.

Kim Kardashians Weight

Kim Kardashian’s weight

why
the
****
do
we
as
a
species
give
a
****
about
Kim
Kardashian’s
weight
while
pregnant?

why do we care about her ****ing weight while she was
not with child?

why do we care about Kim ****ing Kardashian at all?

she has been labeled a “socialite,”
she has been labeled a “television personality”---
um,
let’s just get down to it…

WOULD WE EVEN KNOW HER NAME
IF IT WASN’T FOR THE FACT THAT GUYS WANT
TO **** HER?

would we even know her name, if it wasn’t for her big
ass,
that much like Jennifer Lopez’s,
has been talked of as if it had a zip code of its own?

there had been rumors that Lopez got her ass insured,
because of its great worth…
there are rumors that Jennifer Love Hewitt is thinking about
getting her breasts insured…

this is the world we live in america,
this is what the empire does on the inside
while we beat other countries senseless &
force them to walk, talk & act like us on the
outside…

think of the time,
think of the effort,
think of the money,
think of the jobs involved,
all to get a picture of Kim Kardashian on the magazine cover,
on the website blurb,
on the television program…
just to talk of how much she weighs
while pregnant,
as if she had contributed
anything
at
all,
whatsoever,
to our advancement as a species,
besides being a goddamn doorknob…
and then in unison,
throw up.

The Forest, the Lot and the Carpetbagger

"The Forest, The Lot and The Carpetbagger"

In the middle
of it all, in
The Forest,
I was asked
by a soothsayer
to choose
a number

1, 2 or 3.

I said
in all sincerity,
“that’s a bad number, 3.
someone always feels
left out discarded; now
if you get down to it,
about playing cards,

well 1,
is rather obscure,
concealed,
not easily expressed,
or understood,
no fun, just 1,
waiting for the deal

to be delivered,
to be done,
you could wait forever,
as just number 1, where's
the fun in the dance
as the unknown, unseen
stoic 1."

So I chose 2,
me and my shadow
2, I’d bring the
other with me
like a pair of
socks, well matched
walking off the page

walking off
win-win
with the shining
light, the payload,
the winnings,
the lot, at end of day
like a carpetbagger,

when fortune
tempts fate
walking its
very very fine line,
Risk asks for the payoff
and in exchange,
for trust and faith,

the long night
and dreary day
over all are saved;
opportunity knocks,
the door opens
it is now
unlocked,

I walk through,
poetically speaking,
I manifest the lot.

No Good

I’m no good at staying in one place,
I’m a man that needs to roam around.
Ain’t no good at raising a family,
or growing some crops out of the ground.
I’m no good at long relationships,
you can ask any of my ex-wives.
I’m not capable of telling the truth,
and I’m no good at telling you goodbye.

I’m no good at sharing my feelings,
sometimes I think my heart has a crack.
So don’t give me any of your love,
I am no good at giving it back.
So, I guess when you get down to it,
I’m no good at even being me.
but,
I’m good at making crappy country songs,
and writing some really bad poetry.

Yes, there’s some things that I’m good at,
things like ruining other people’s lives.
I’m good at always running away,
I’m good at only telling you lies.
I’m good at handing out broken hearts,
and pretending to be what you need.
And,
I’m good at making crappy country songs,
and writing some really bad poetry.

I’m no good at sharing my feelings,
don’t go placing any trust in me.
Don’t give me any of your sweet love,
I have to keep myself wild and free.
So, I guess when you get down to it,
I’m pretty good at just being me.
and,
I’m good at making crappy country songs,
and writing some really bad poetry.

Gordon Aikman - a Hero For Mnd

Gordon Aikman was the director of research,
For the Better Together campaign for the vote,
For the Scottish Referendum so as to search,
Folks hearts until they opted for the unity coat.

Diagnosed with MND June 2014 he immediately,
Wrote about this in The Scotsman regional,
And popularised the MND bucket challenge icy,
By raising the need for research, conditional.

In speeches and articles he gives the simple truth,
That a cure for MND will only be realised and found,
If more research is done, if we get in the booth,
Which necessitates more money being given around.

We have the answer, with a little bit if work,
If we put some effort in and get down to it,
There will be no MND sufferers to just lurk,
In the future there’ll be no cases by MND hit.

God is not in the equation, he has no edifice,
Gordon puts medicine and care as salvation,
Doctors speak the truth and are the kind face,
To sufferers in need of love and consideration.

Deciding upon your beliefs starts here, with this,
With what the body means and its elevation,
And accepting that doctors save, have the fizz,
Makes you sane and able to give in edification.

Fancy Folk

I was at this here shindig just the other night
was all duded up and was feeling all right
When this fancy fella saunters over my way
it 'peers to me like he might have something to say

Gawking at my boots, rodeo buckle and band
I guess he figured it out that I worked the land
He tips his wine glass with his pinky sticking out
then begins telling me just what ranching's about

He'd bought up thousands of acres of this cheap land
that used to belong to some worthless Indians
If I wanted real money, I'd be pumping oil
or dig gold, coal or silver from under the soil

He said man it's easy just to get down to it
bring in these machines and rip the prairie to
Waive a little cash and them congressmen aught to
just follow you around like cattle to slaughter

I says hold on there, I'm not sure you understand
so just let me show you what I think of your plan
Us rancher, we have pride in caring for the land
and I introduced him to the back of my hand

I'm sure they won't ask me to any more soirees
none of them snooty people talk to me these days
Because as I walked out I toasted them you see
with a finger sticking out but not my pinky

Premium Member Bigotry Is Ignorance

Bigotry is ignorance
Bigotry is not meeting but maybe one person in a certain category.
Bigotry is categorizing all people into the same box
based on crazy things
like religion, the color of their skin,
even their hair color if you truly get down to it.
How many times have you heard:
all blondes are dumb? All old people are senile? All bald headed men are virile?

Bigotry is no here near pure and simple
It is also not totally absolute or self-assured.
I was once told by Matt who was a racist against Polish people,
“My sister could never marry a Pole.”
I asked “What if the Polish man was super nice?”
It would not matter.
“What if the Polish man was kind to the entire family?”
I would not care.

I got serious now.
This is America after all.
I asked him, “What if the Polish man was rich?”
Here is where things changed.
“How rich?”
“Rich enough to buy you a new car so you would change your mind about him.”
“That would be different, he said,” no bigot at all, when it came to money.

Graduation Hesitation

Graduation time is here,
It's time to kick it into to gear.
We got to shape up,
Because it's going to be tough.
We cannot run from it,
We cannot hide.
So we got to suck it up and take pride.
Pride that we are done,
Pride that we made it.
Pride that we can go be successful,
And pride that we are going to be all that we can.
There is Graduation Hesitation,
In each and every one of us.
You eventually have to do it,
So lets just get down to it.
When it becomes Graduation Day,
And when you walk across that stage,
When you get that diploma,
Be sure to be thankful to everyone.
Everyone who has been there for you,
Everyone who has been true.
Everyone who cares,
And everyone who is there.
Graduation Hesitation is here,
If we try our best together,
We can all beat this fear.
So lets join together.
The time has come.
It's Graduation.
We are finally done.

Way Back Again, Part 2

Daddy’s dead
My mother rushed in to tell me to get it over with
I sit thinking about how I never knew the man
My dad was not a God
But he wanted to love me good
I wonder why
I had to lose him at such a young age
I cried in the night
Looking back on the things we never did
Way back then
Way back again

But his funeral wasn't so sad
Everyone was pleased to know the man
And I smiled as they smiled
And laughed along too
We celebrated his will and his whimsy
He never hurt someone intentionally
But things that were so nice
Will stay alive

And when I look way back again
When I really get down to it
It’s like I’m beginning to breathe again
I laugh in the night
Hoping my kids can love me too
And hoping my friends
Can think of me great to the bittersweet end
If then I think my life
Was so great, I wouldn't have to think twice

Premium Member Just Lying Around

I am just lying around she says
After I get to know her better
I realize she is always lying

around the water cooler
around the lunch room
around the new teachers
around the old teachers

Lying around is what she does best
So when she says it now
I smirk and I am not the only one.
Three or four of us have caught on now.
I notice none of us stay when she begins her tales.

She is the best rocket scientist east of the Mississippi.
She saved her neighbors' lives, but when we get down to it, she didn't.
She is always the heroine in every story we hear while she is lying around.

Others will soon figure it out
Lying around catches up with
you eventually no matter when you do it.
or where...around the lunchroom, or the oldies or the newbies.

Watch for the smirks.
