Andy wasn't handy
Wasn't interested in tools
He didn't like reading
Thought reading was for fools
He did not give much thought
To the benefits of reading
You can learn much from books
They assist you to succeed in
Anything you want to know
Or need to understand
You gather knowledge from any book
That comes into your hand
Some people like Andy
Don't even want to try
To pick up any book
They would rather die
If only they looked forward
To what might lay ahead
It might make them sorry
They have never read
For reading helps to educate
And stimulate the brain
It shows wisdom to start early
The chance may never come again
Imagine
A world not like ours
where fathers accepted sons
a village welcomed the next village
instead of gods, we worshiped goodness as
kindness, empathy, compassion, understanding and giving
disputes settled over feasts
grapes to wine instead of bullets to war
where everyone listened to the heart of the closest child
every child a gem
Imagine a world
where no wolf dressed as a sheep
where spite was a soft drink
and not the blackness of the soul
Money is not the root of all evil
it only exposes those who had evil in them
power the same
evil is evil and the veil of Godliness
fools no one
even a rabbit knows better
never be silent
speak up to it all
There was an old woman
who lived in the blue.
She had so many clouds
she knew not what to do.
"Get off my cloud!"
she did eschew
those with temerity to share
where
only fools would dare to tread.
Hey you,
within my sky blues,
crowding my clouds,
shrieking so loud
all my neighbors are puffing with proud
to leave me alone in my own neighborhood
as comfy as croc-ish old shoes.
Are you talking to me?
You talkin' to me?
How could this be?
I jumped on your cloud,
to be perfectly frank,
too naked for proud,
with no cloud of my own
no home to call throne
no space to call place.
Please ride on our cloud
as we race through our pace
shouting out, "Hey You!"
to all pouting in.
Make us all proud
as bleached underwear,
come on if you dare,
sing out all your loud!
Join me with your cloud
streaming star-crossed lover smart.
If not flying together,
then we fly apart.
Get off my cloud,
and join me on ours;
and, please,
ignore me,
if sometimes I sound
like a crusty old fart.
I want to do it my way,
The way I think it should be.
The fact that it doesn't make any sense,
Doesn't matter to me.
I like it better this way.
It's the way I want it to be.
The fact that it confuses the matter,
Doesn't matter to me.
It's my job so let me do it.
Don't bug me about the rules.
I'd rather take the short cut.
Guide lines were made for fools.
As long as I get the job done,
As long as it's done on time,
Who cares how I did it,
It's done and it looks just fine.
I have no use fore protocol.
Useless rules waste time;
So do it your way and I'll do it mine,
And we'll get along just fine.
I've had many jobs like this,
And I did them all the same way.
The reason none of them lasted long,
Is a mystery to me, who can say.
Don't look at me that way
everything you touch tends to slip away
I know you, your tactics and your ploys
how many others were just play toys?
Let me go, set my heart free
you and I were never meant to be
close your eyes and slowly walk away
there's nothing else to say.
I may look back, regret the years
but time eventually wipes away the tears
and you and I were just casual interludes
knowing the moment when love is no longer pursued.
I let you go, the memories and all
recognizing blue eyes fade in the withdrawal
and the brief encounter shared between two fools
never remain the most precious jewels.
Don't look at me that way
everything we touched slips away
and all that's left is history
treasures mingled in forgotten mystery.
High time we made a stand
And shook Up
The views of the common man
And the life train
Ride from coast to coast
ANC is the party
We love the most
Could it be, could it be
Squeaky clean
And smash any
Hope of democracy
As the headline
Says you're free to choose
There's egg on your face
And mud on your shoes
One of these days
They're call it the blues
Showing in the scenes of life
I spy tears in their eyes
They look to the skies
For some kind
Of divine intervention
Food goes to waste
So nice to eat
So nice to taste
Politician grandpa
With your ideals
Have you no idea
How the majority feels
So without love
And promised land
We're fools
To the rules
Kick out the styles
Bring back the jam
The birds and the bees
My girlfriend and me in love
Had a dream
All was not as it would seem
A country afraid to make war
Became a store
Started selling their war tools
To unsuspecting needy fools
The people were wise
So they made their bombs in disguise
Hid them well
No one could even tell
Phones
Drones
Metal Clones
In plain sight they did hide
On that electric bike you ride
Like an ever spreading tide
Spreading their ware
Without a care
People paid for their own doom
Hey I will put this clock in my room
My wallet is nice and fat
Send me this send me that
That robot vacuum is where it is at
This laptop is as cool as can be
Hey they give away tablets for free
Do you not yet see
A phone next to your ear
May give you reason to fear
This electronic gizmo you now hold in your hand
......Understand.....
This plan they nurture
Someday in our future
The time becomes right
Who knows if it is day or night
They set their plan in flight
Boom
Goes your room
So starts our doom
That fancy car
The explosion was felt so very far
It lit up as bright as a star
Into chaos we are hurled
Around the world
Civilization brought to its knees
I can still hear the pleas
In both land.and the shining seas
This could or could not be true
But it is something they could do
Can you now see the light
They could win without a fight
in the evening light of an Ugandan town,
welcome breeze in a large thatched canopy,
in a gathering of strangers and friends,
a nepali chef’s exquisite indian cuisine,
aroma of food swarms the candle-lit lobby,
a lone singer in blue jeans strums his guitar,
“ wise men say, only fools rush in,
but I can’t help falling in love with you”!*
tinkle of wine glasses and bottles
beauteous ebony soft skin reflect the candle glow,
colourful scarfs drape elegant hair,
the warmth of the day is long gone,
but radiant are the primal senses,
a greying drummer taps his feet,
the gathering, swings slowly to the UB40 beat,
in African suburb, king Elvis is reborn,
“ shall I stay? would it be a sin?
but I can’t help falling in love with you!”
i feel a soft cheek leaning on my shoulder,
eyes looking in to my eyes,
her hand rubbing my forearm seeking love,
instinctively my hand reach around her long slim waist,
as we gently kiss, lips sensing the warmth of desire!
“take my hand, take my whole life too,
i can’t help falling in love with you”
two strangers in close embrace,
evening, late night, wine and incense,
no introductions, no names
just passion and desire.
In that Ugandan town,
two strangers sought love
under a canopy, voice of a lone singer,
Elvis’ popular song to UB40 beat!
“ like a river flows surely to the sea,
darling so it goes,
somethings are meant to be”

* “can’t help falling in love with you“ Elvis Song performed by UB40
Uninspired, 'tis a search for Shangri-La,
It's much ado, I mean, don't you think so,
All of this bruhaha, just fools would go,
To this La La Land, --no 'tis other La.
Well, if fools have time for frivolous things,
Let it be theirs, not ours, a game of chance,
--It does seem charming, a touch of romance,
Oh no, a fool's errand, what of your bling's.
--What say you, we both got money, let's go,
'Tis a slide of the hands, all done with mirrors,
Pulled out of the hat, it's flawed with errors,
Yet, you are my friend, answer, that you know.
Let us hire some guide, and one from those schools,
--From the universities, a teacher,
I believe they are called professor, --err,
--Now history, and dishwashing, two fools.

Do you rejoice when visit's trouble upon your kin
do you with verbal twist do cast your snare
when hurtful things present to neighbor men
and with sarcasm say you do not care
For time and chance in trouble are cast we down
what man among you escapes a razors edge
all mankind in this condition sometimes be found
and are taken surety for a pledge
When curse you call for evil fall
upon another soul
and show within your heart of sin
know that evil will take it's toll
What you call down will in karma drown
not where you place a curse
you may find the words unwind
and happens in reverse
What is so bad and makes us sad
that parents do not teach
vindictive tools bad instruction fools
and cannot a heart to reach
Can you bet if you cast this net
your own foot not be taken
in verbal spill to cast your will
in your own device forsaken
And if be heard the spiteful word
what opinion do you think
of you beware will others share
and from your friendship shrink
If someone shares your confidence
and pains of heart has told
do you use their trust to fence
and take from them their gold
If want you love you must learn
to others not be cruel
for you find same return not kind
and yourself as thought a fool
