Premium Member Aria

A radio aired an awful auld aria,
Astounding all my aged aural edifices
In eerie aura of araucaria trees
Aching angrily in a loud typhonic breeze.

My brain wanted to burrow to escape the pain
Of sounds as a warren of rabid jackrabbits
Digging to escape mangy slobbering coyotes
Howling hungrily in panting pursuit of prey.

Such a scratchy song, if played in the briny deep,
Would chase crazy-eyed kraken to the mountain tops.
Callas, Verdi and Puccini would flee their graves
For a screechy symphony of barbed wire sitars.

Praise be! The off button my shaking hands did find;
I woke up, pressing on my belly button hard.

Facilitating the Facility

Facilitating The Facility

Solid structures should stay outside where they belong
With a firm facility of understanding occupational standards
In their simplicity of design
Edifices don’t build themselves in wildernesses
No one does
It’s not civilized
Loud noises must be nurtured in the city
To appreciate the sacrifice
The road to success is always under construction
Edifices have to rise above it all
Iron buildings need to breathe in rust
By starting from the outside in
And stand alone in the metropolis
Or else they don’t
Utilized to work in their basic functionality
Buildings take on the life of corporations, homes and offices
Certain to house nobility in the structure of their intent
To stand forever with or without rent
They need not speak
Unless they’re spoken to
Being affiliated with architects and engineers
Gives them a certain air of prominence and prestige
Sky scrapers rise with lofty names
Towering in affluence fills their halls with purpose
Facilitating the facility is under way
They rise with loud noises and voices to the sky

Abhorrent Vehement Strife Hijacking *****Sapiens

Antiestablishmentarian inherent malevolent violence
wracks human species, a most brutish and nasty beast.

An embittered nihilistic teenager
grown haggard and old,
hence not surprisingly yours truly
crafts pseudo dystopian reasonable rhyme.

An evangelized atheistic adherent,
I aver evolutionary theory
posits prelapsarian Eden
of astonishing plentitude
gone to hell in a handbasket.

Ever since human species stood erect
exhibiting prehensile appendages did allow
cupped fingers upon brow,
whereat vista unveiled to succor chow.

Dawn of consciousness begat
superstitious vagaries daunting
present day Democrat
and/or Republican to issue fiat
denouncing extremist militant uprising
raging across Capitol Hill habitat.

2021 presidential inauguration
today January twentieth
(broadcast right now)
augurs horrific repeat January sixth,
when bedlam and mayhem
rocked Washington District of Columbia,
where hoodlums ran amuck lionizing violence.

Lawlessness bled constitution white
marauding bands of hooligans
bombarded, desecrated, fueled,
harmed, jackknifed, leveled, nailed,
pummeled, rioted, terrorized, vandalized...
with glee and spite
yielded windfall regarding

headline grabbing newsnight
motley film crews recorded
gangsters scaling storied height
(cue spiderman/woman)
think rescuers quick
as greased lightning they did alight.

If only real and/or
fictional life action heroes/heroines
came to the rescue
to avenge forces of evil,
where virtue dispensed,
and trumpeted courtesy better angels.

Meanwhile indefatigable defenders
of human rights
dole out just desserts
upon the heads
of self styled lawless brigands
militaristic thugs hell bent
to wreak havoc
upon cradle of liberty
including complex edifices
linkedin and embody

blood, sweat and tears
of freedom fighters
arrayed against merciless
demonic forces upending
foundation upholding enshrined
nearly divinely inspired principles
quantum leaps since
early man/woman trod
across terrestrial firmament.

I experienced exhilaration
upon witnessing confirmation
genuflection, liberation, restitution
espoused by Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.
forty sixth president of United States.

Premium Member Reflections On a Spring Day

Pleasantly radiant, tranquil weather
blue skies & gently benevolent wind
a shimmering gift from Mother Nature
(a smoldering summer lurking in the distance)

Compulsively tracking an unquantifiable self:
steps, exercise minutes, calories, symptoms, etc.
stoical statistics dutifully logged into tired devices
(a futile endeavor to control life)

Cacophonous news oozing from the Malverse
menacing memes ricochet around the planet
updates of a horrid war threatening to devour the world
(a looming nuclear apocalypse)

Occupying space in old unedifying edifices gathering dark energy
running out the accelerating clock as civilization nears its breaking point
desperately seeking diversion while doling out doggerel
(a quest to imbue a desolate existence with meaning)

How long before it all falls apart?

Awaiting My Modified Pea Nile Sent Tense

No way to dodge fiat decreeing death sentence
for this rambling man
cheesy alias con commit tented mouse élan
Who felt unready to kick the can
On account of violating ban

Against abominable illegal mandate
With no way to commute death sentence
For the simple act of voicing opinion
against exist of heavenly gate
Of hellish underworld

despite religious opiate decreeing penance
Spurious pedagogical poetic rant
dialed up x telephonic times
Not the ravings of some half mad lunatic

Carefully plotted recitation
that springs from combined teachings of Kant
And jolly old Saint Nick
Charges trumped up per this average trump petting don

Purportedly blaspheming judeo-christian paradigm
Upending blind faith equated with hill of beans upon
Which dogma erected epitomized
by complex edifices via grime

Sweat and tears from slave labor
where usurpation of freedom won
Until outspoken spokes persons risked life and limb
To invalidate the existence

of supreme deity who created life
Whether for extra credit or perhaps on a whim
Adam from whose rib cage
without anesthesia but razor sharp knife

Sported eve with a physique quite pleasing and trim
But rather than get lost in the Garden of Eden myth
Final seconds of existence tick away
Without intent to recant statements
?
solely acceptable to b’ni brith
Prompting last words of mine as oye vay
With no regrets - deeming heart of religion flimsy as pith
Thing in the wind or house of cards
vulnerable to blow away!

Premium Member Wounded Whisper

It was on a bleak afternoon,
That Cancer came and brashly whispered,
‘I am going to be with you for ever.
Follow me wherever I lead you.
Fight back if you can, rather if you dare.
But indomitable I am, you know’.

The wounding whisper reverberated in his ears.
Never had John been punched so hard.
Shocked beyond even a sigh or silent moan.
Dumb he stood so petrified.
He saw his dreams fall apart.
The sky-high edifices crumbling down.
The soil under his feet giving way.
With a lovely family and an aspiring career,
With life, he was passionately in love!

The remaining days were a Marathon race,
From hospitals to labs and from oncologists to specialists.
While passing through the ordeal of radiation and chemo
Bravely he fought back the pain and nausea,
For hope had reigned supreme
And for his family, he must live!
‘I will don my armour and brandish my steel.
I will not yield! Oh! Never shall I give in.
I shall make it through and come out victorious’.

But soon he realized it to be a tough battle
And saw the chances of winning too bleak.
The villain had almost taken his sway.
And day by day his body grew frail.
He heard the wounding whisper of death
More often and found resistance impossible!

Premium Member In a silent world, where dreams are woven like an unseen tapestry

In a silent world, where dreams are woven like an unseen tapestry,
Artists draw with untamed longing edifices of light reaching towards the heavens,
In the twilight of consciousness where thoughts ignite like smoldering flames,
Sculpting in the silence of time unseen cathedrals of change.
Politics weaves its illusions like a spider’s web in forgotten corners,
But artists transform reality into poetry, time, and eternity,
Poetry becomes an ethereal pursuit piercing through the fog of silence,
In a world where truth is discovered in color and vibrating sound.
In the quiet of creation, where each note is a smoldering flame of dream,
Artists live change with every step, with every stroke of the brush,
Building bridges from dream and fantasy between hearts divided by time,
Politics lags behind, weary, trying to grasp the ceaseless vision.
Like stars in the night, guides shining in the darkness of forgetfulness,
Artists are spirits in unending flight, seeking pure truths,
Igniting sparks of light in the souls of those who watch with longing,
Knowing that true change comes from hearts burning with pure passion.

Premium Member Places of Worship

Majestic cathedrals are erected for the worship of God,
Featuring towering spires and ostentatious facade.
Grand organs acclaim ancient hymns with clarion flourish.
Melodious choirs sing hosannas, languid souls to nourish!

Most congregants worship in less pretentious surrounds,
But the same generous blessings from above abounds.
It matters not the size of the building or its congregation.
The people are the church worshipping with joyous celebration!

Upon distant fields of frightful martial campaign,
And upon naval vessels plodding the roiling main,
Dedicated chaplains in simple settings minister to their fold,
Proclaiming just as effectively the cogent message of old!

Whether it be mosque, synagogue, cathedral or canvas tent,
And whatever the religion or creed may be the people's bent,
One thing they have in common and it will be clearly evident,
They all witness the presence of their God ever omnipotent!

Perhaps in lieu of building mighty edifices prone to decay,
Bridges of understanding could be built to keep prejudices at bay,
Drawing diverse peoples together for a common good,
Fostering charity, fellowship and world-wide brotherhood!
