History Rising from the Sea

Treasure from the sea
Golden doubloon
Sixteenth century artifact
By ancestors hewn

Earth's history lays buried
Beneath five oceans
As undersea tremors
Create violent commotions

Freeing from Spanish galleons
Precious metals, gemstones,
To greet early beachcombers
History on loan

Memories of bygone ages
Scattered on the sand
Finally kissed by sun again
While in a searcher's hand

I pursue this morning trek
With Atlantis on my mind
Seeking proof at last
In treasures I might find

When ancient civilations
Seem to disappear
Comb the beach, you might find
The evidence is here

For from a phoenix rising
New finds appear each day
And I'll not stop searching
Till doubts I can allay

Caroline and I shared of love of water - she the ocean and I lakes and Puget Sound. Her poems flow like tides - effortlessly - with bits of wisdom scattered like treasures of seashells or driftwood found on the beach. This poem speaks of our mutual love of beachcombing for treasures and the pondering of history brought to mind by life's flotsam.

The poem below represents my tribute to Carolyn.

Girl on a Dolphin

Stargazing ocean pixie
Rides the playful weathered waves
To surf the ocean tides
With laughing dolphins
Leaps to catch Delphinus
Starfarer in a star bound chrysalis
To ride this five star celestial constellation
On heaven sent lapis astral waters
Wearing moonstones like Apollo’s poetry
Where starry Aquila flies to Lyra’s music.

Salt spattered waves only gaze
At a girl – eternal sea sprite –
That sits atop a stellar dolphin
And feels the shell torn loss
Of feet that danced through tidal pools,
Delight and awe surging through her signature,
As time bound day searches midnight legends
To align in twinkling sidereal day –
A quest for remnant memories in verses
Of a star born spirit – girl riding on a dolphin.

The constellation Delphinus is made up of five stars and can be seen between the constellations of Aquila, the Eagle, and Lyra, the Lyre. It is named for two Greek legends based on dolphins one of which tells of Apollo setting a dolphin in the sky in gratitude for saving the Greek poet Arion. Apollo is the god of music and poetry.

Premium Member Lost Love Deliria - Part 3

 Part 3

9th Delerium: Emptyness
Water wheels in wastelands... turning,
drowning relics in the slum
Rumpled rags of fashioned burlap... burning,
lit by bandits blind and dumb
Pastured prisons, ponies bridled ... yearning,
forest fairies under thumb
Sounds inside of cauldrons coughing... churning,
blaring bugles, tattooed drum

10th Delirium: Alienation
Rain unravelling, wistfully weeping... falling,
treacle trickling, fickle sky
Mushrooms sprinkled, visions sprouting... sprawling,
seagulls drowning, dolphins die
Rabble gasping, spirits broken... crawling,
lonely lonesome swallows cry
Babbling brooks and breakers ebbing... bawling
puppies paddle, puppets sigh
People passing ripple past me... calling,
rainbow colours, collars high
Chaos seething, lepers looting... stalling,
stealing stallions on the sly
Pencils pausing, scholars scrambling... scrawling,
scratching scribbles, asking why

11th Delirium: Jetsam
Silver sails sway pallid pirates... prowling,
Jolly Rogers, wind and sound
Parrots perching, tattered feathers... fouling,
tethered talons, tied and bound
Shipwrecked foghorns, trumpets stranded... howling,
spiral springs of time unwound
Magic moonlight, shimmers shaking... scowling,
burnt out matchsticks washed aground
Prairie wolfs, coyotes calling... yowling,
witching hours, midnight hounds
Tightrope walkers, grizzlies grunting... growling,
seeking islands, lost and found

12th Delirium: Relief
Slumber shattered, vapours captive... haunting,
chained in mirrors, breaking free
Scarlet skylines, daylight dawning... daunting,
rivers rushing to the sea
Silence softens, sandmen whisper... wanting,
piercing rafters, turning keys
Shadows shudder, notions fluster... flaunting,
moonbeam bullets meant for me
Mind in migraine, meadows trembling... taunting,
sparrows speak in harmony

REAWAKENING

Pitter patter, teardrops paling... pearling,
salting scarves in secret drawers
Mist amongst us, smoke rings rising... curling,
climbing from the ocean floors
See-saw circles, senses swerving... swirling,
swept away with silver oars
Courtyard jesters, sceptres twisting... twirling,
push the past to foreign shores
Passing pangs of passions heaving... hurling,
burning bridges, closing doors
Roses wither, icons waning... whirling,
time decays and time restores

Emotion

I fall and my mind begs my heart to get up
I try to stand on two shaky legs
But the weight of my soul has become too much to bear
The rips and tears in my heart have become too much to mend
I try to close my eyes but I’m continuously haunted by your smile

My heart yearns to pull your body close
To get wrapped up in your lyrical verse
My mind craves the sound of your voice
I try but I’m left with only one lyrical choice
I need you, I need you, I need you
My soul feels alive when I’m caught in your gaze
I let go of my fear and convince my heart to be brave.

It’s too early so I won’t let this feel like love
I can’t help but want to be your dove
Sailing on the winds of your emotions
A dolphins riding the waves of your devotion
In the ocean that is your heart
Why can’t I just let these feeling pass
My world is spinning way too fast
I’m lost, You find me, I’m lost again.
Your eyes draw me in but your fears push me out
Your lips beckon me closer
But doubt still clouds your mind
Why did we have to find each other now
The timing couldn’t be more wrong
(cuss) THIS!!!!!!
You still sing my heavenly song
A melodious rhapsody
Into this abyss
I fall to thee
I’m floating on your words
This is weird, I’m lost in three different worlds
I’m happy, I’m sad, I’m confused
I wish time would cease to tick
So I wouldn’t have to lose
Wishing amour shall cause our hands to fuse
So I never have to let go
So I’d never have to say “so…
Long” and “I’ll see you soon”
Spiraling, spiraling into this lonely doom
SAVE ME!!!!!!

Set my soul free
Unlock this prison that keeps our feelings hidden
Rescue my heart
It’s calling out to you
I’ll understand if you block me out
I can sense your fear
I know, I understand, I agree
Even if the Fates tell us we aren’t meant to be
I know you feel this too
Now do you understand this torment that I’m going through?
I am overcome with boundless affection
You have captured me with intellectual perfection.

Beating hearts, tempted souls
Feeling which weren’t supposed to grow
But yet they did and I see it clear
Sweet ……, I wish you near
Wrap you in my arms
Breathe in your scent
Countless hours in thought I’ve spent
In a state of mental disorder, your smiles and face inhabit the center, and the borders
Of my heart
Willing our threads never to part……

Premium Member Our Peach

In a moment of magic I once gave her a juicy innocent peach

Not yet knowing that she harboured a sweet nascent dream

In which as a youngster she knew that she would marry the one

Who handed such a fleshy gift to the gypsy Queen of Fairy Land

Bestowed upon her by night’s prophesy she carried the vision of

Requited love and blissful peace brought by subconscious longing

And spiritual clarity of a Higher Power submerged in compassion

A passionate fruit with soft skin and one huge seed of togetherness

We eloped together into a new dawn

The doomsayers had a field day as they harvested bitter doubts

‘It will only last a couple of months and the peach will turn rotten’

‘You cannot feed on clairvoyant oracles and meek pagan beliefs’

‘They are deluded insane and caught up in misguided romance’

They called her a witch a seductress and labelled me irresponsible

With so much at stake painted pictures of broomsticks and failure

While we had found the jewel in a haystack without even searching

And set fire to the past as we danced naked around a fire of passion

We knew the truth of intuitive feeling

One can never be sure what lies at the end of paths never taken

Whether road blocks and diversions belittle emotions and faith

But they who ignore heavenly signs forfeit adventure and truth

Stay stuck in spent time and hail its dubious comfort at their peril

We travelled and found a small hut on the beach out of sight

Collected starfish and driftwood and caressed wounded souls

Carved wedding bands out of sea shells and called upon dolphins

To witness our marriage surfing along happily ever since then

		A cormorant applauded the feast

Under a star studded canopy on the miraculous shore of belonging

We never strayed from what intuition and feelings offered for free

Meandered on the shoreline and set our sails into a magical ocean

Tasted the salt of a mindful earth and soothed our recovering minds

Never questioned the wisdom of our union shared by hungry souls

Treasure pleasure and joy weathered powerful storms and all tides

The cosmos donates all we ever need once we are willing to navigate

Waves and effervescence sparkling desire and in our case a peach

		Leading the universal way

The Merchant Ship

Deep ocean of azure blue

Overhead seagulls circling flew

In constant motion, heaving sides

The old merchant ship upon it rides

Rust scorched it's barnacled coat

Salt encrusted railings forever afloat

On the horizon's sinking sun's amber glow

Beckons enticingly along the flow

New moon appearing from out of the west

Silvery waves splintering against foamy crest

Figures emerging from the hold below

Peering skywards at the star studded show

Then into action to each their appointed task

Some heaving ropes, others mounting the mast

All working together to achieve one aim

To secure the sails aloft the bounteous main

A rumble of thunder and a flash lightening sound

Mountainous waves gather pace all around

Working in unison the crew now complete

All tasks meritorious as a well drilled fleet

A shout from the Captain, as the thunder roars

Urgently gesticulating "secure the oars"

Rain clashing as in sword play

Freeze drench they stand

As they see the top sail rend

Now all secured they disappear down

Below decks they ruminate

All worrying, no sound

Then vocal in assumptions from mate to mate

Until the Captain shouts "Silence no need for this din,

I shall calculate our bearings, now where to begin?"

Spreading out his charts he clears cups for a space

Each man concentrating, deep intent on each face

"Look Captain", one points "there's the Cape of Good Hope

enough time to manoeuvre and with luck stay afloat"

The temperature plummets and the crew mill around

No warmth except mittens and blankets draped around

The storm is abating and two bells is called

As each man takes turn to pump until hauled

Buckets of water overboard they keep on

Clearing sea water over gunnels, until all is gone

Ship breaking water all in it's wake

No matter the weather only headway to make

Dolphins leaping and diving below

Thoughts turn to seamen of long ago

Royal Navy Standards, a jolly jack tar

Plotting each course by the Northern Star

Pirate vessels hoisting their skull and crossbones

Biting winds moaning and pelting hailstones

Sailing ships with elaborate sails

Above the wind, sailors hearty hales

Anchorage sought and a comfortable berth

Homeward port reached and feet on the earth.

 Listen to the
ticking hands of twilight,
close your eyes,
while I take your thoughts
   to an ivory reverie of
flickering fantasies…
there I’m cruising
above an
 island of mystery
in a flying
 glass catamaran~
glazed in
fairy sparkles.
Watching the
shimmering sea
swallow flaming rays
of the sinking sunset,
I slowly dive
  deep
   into the
lungs of
  lyrical lagoon
to surf along
  saffron waves,
against
 twinkling tides,
while the
 seraphic soul
of an emerald
oyster crest
 unravels a
  sparkling carnival
of summery parade.

I am magnetically
        captivated,
chasing a school of
    dancing dolphins,
with every spin,
 they reflect hypnotic
 songs of the ocean~
a ballet of butterfly-rays,
swirl to symphonies
echoing from the
 marine kingdom,
there sharks
   and turtles together
croon secrets lost within
the aquatic
  jungle of life.

When the
spirits that carry
  sunken sagas of
  coral reefs rise,
a mystical goddess
  emerges beyond
  the wide horizon,
where the moon is
meant to glow
and unfurl silvery
chronicles of
crystal clear memories.
She is dressed
in glistening algae,
her scales mirror
a musical melancholy;
tales untold and unseen
in the eyes
 of flawed creatures.
Her beauty is beyond any
ballads woven from
salt soaked diamonds.

I question her in awe;
“What flows
 beneath violet ripples,
   ruffling with starry souvenirs?
Do you hear
midnight serenades
of coastal birds,
when neon gems
light up the sea of fire?”

In silence, she whispered
 into the drifting wind,
“I am the sovereign of
        seafarers and day dreamers,
                   I guide the lost to
                     a sanctuary of serenity”
Her words
  kept circling in
     ringing refrain,
and I let
   my thoughts float,
in the
watery credence
of her cryptic tunes,
as she
 vanished
   into nothingness,
leaving a fragrant tint across
the celestial
canvas of the sky.

Now the mermaid moon
draws a halo
in fluorescent
  colors of her
rainbow tail fin,
splattering a trail of letters,
moving in
    zig
       zag across
the azure,
   knitted in lucky charms~
while initials of this tale
ignites the universe
like
waterfall chandeliers.

Future Archeology

Perceptions of a ragged space,
all that was left by the human race,
there's not a lot left to see at all,
as their carelessness was seldom small.

Let's dig around
in that frazzled ground,
for that's where there's bound to be,
some signs of dodgy chemistry
or maybe just a little radiation,
the sort that killed another nation,
though they said it wasn't bad at all,
any effects would be so very small,
just as asbestos would never embroil
us in disease, nor would a little spilt oil.

But profit ruled the minds of men,
the bosses say do this thing and then,
you'll have enough to pay the rent,
but wouldn't as it was always spent
on a merry night out with the boys,
long before those electric toys
just sinking pints to rinse the dust,
before staggering home all filled with lust,

Then some had coal with a price too pay,
only if they 'bought it', down the pit one day,
other times they might just cough it out,
smuggled home in their lungs no doubt,
or maybe they were lost out in the wild sea
aiming to catch that fishy for the rich folks tea,
others were mangled up in the cotton mill wheels,
where safety guards didn't hide belts and reels..

And ever as man moved to make it safer than before,
some new peril would be found to drop men onto the floor
be it from a toxic gas or perhaps a mercury leak,
what did it matter while some profit they'd seek,
the waste might well taint the rivers and poison all
the fish they ate and so keep their children small,
small and weedy with some horrendous rash
while the air was grey with muck and ash.

I could go on for many a verse,
but I've no wish to be perverse,
for by now the penny will have dropped
for those whose brains have not been shot,
by additives to make processed food have taste
or keep it 'fresh' longer so as not to waste,
any scraps of reclaimed muck and gristle,
oh dear, now I've gone and blown the whistle.

And thats before I even mention the Taiji men
who slaughter dolphins by the thousands and then
sell their flesh with labels as if another meat,
what is it that Japan now consumes for a treat,
I wonder do they ever know for sure,
what it is they bring in through their doors
and so the follies still go on and on
do you wonder why I feel so strong?

All aboard the Fantasy M/S of Carnival
for half a week’s vacation time of fun and falderal.
Hear greetings from your captain, his director and the crew.
Ready, set, get going. The Bahamas wait for you.

Bon Voyage! There’s Reggae music playing on the Lido.
Dinner is at 6 or 8. Hold off on that tuxedo!
You could eat a pizza by the Windows On the Sea
or go beneath to dine on shrimp and meet the maitre d’.

Gamble or see comedy; reflect upon the ocean.
Late to bed; relax your head; sense the soothing motion.
Rise and shine in Freeport where the ship will dock all day.
You can disembark to take a tour, or you can stay.

On board the ship, take a dip; lounge or dance Calypso.
Get yourself massaged; work out, shop or play some bingo.
All day long, you can find folks doing funny things
like contests for the men with hairy chests or knobby knees.

Day two when you waken, you will be in Nassau.
There’s stuff for everyone, from your kiddies to your grandma!
Little ones may stay behind. Folks will entertain them,
or the kids can tag along with the adults. No problem!

If you like adventure, visit lovely Blue Lagoon.
For snorkeling with sting rays, the boat leaves right at noon.
You can pet some dolphins, but extra you should pay
if you want to swim with them. That’s one special day.

In town you might be nabbed by a plaza beautician.
Getting braids is all the rage, so people get their hair done.
Get back to the gangway before the ship sets sail.
If you‘re still not having fun, you must be a door nail!

“Day at Sea” arrives as your trip is winding down,
And the biggest night is coming; women wear a gown!
That final evening dining perhaps with a new friend,
you’ll wish instead of ending, it were starting all again.

Gals and guys with braided scalps; everyone looks nice.
Ah, that midnight feast with pretty sculptures carved in ice.
The ultimate for leisure if you’re after more than snoozing’.
In the laid-back natives lingo: “Mon, you best be cruising!”

NOTE: (this describes a vacation I took about 12 years ago, my first
and probably last cruise ever, unless I come into money. haha.
I'd seen Europe in my youth but as vacations go,this truly was
the best one.)

Reflections

Reflections

Looking up above, at the blue sky, at the white doves, as the rain is coming from a distant cloud, at the mountains staring back so calmly displayed, like a post card, in my back yard. While the kids fly kites, and the trees dance in the breeze, humming birds reach the red succulent nester from porches with feeders waiting to just get one seconds glimpse. The little kids out on tricycles, on roller skates, laughing and rolling in grass chasing bubbles, call it love –what a sight to see.
When we finally are talking freely and honest to anyone, and they laugh and they smile at appropriate times, and then it goes from a possibility to true chemistry something that can last. A friendship that is founded on the real you. When we are naked with our thoughts, and wants, ourselves like a seed we sprout up and crave more and it creates more buds within us to grow, like a tree, the love, water, nutrients, care and beauty so powerfully stimulating and it only awakens the best within us, which naturally pulls all that sees in our direction to celebrate and become a part of such a beautifully organic, authentically, natural living being. Which we find at one time or another to call life. Real living. Now you can breathe…easily.

The past is not history but it’s a part of our history, helping to mold us up into who we are destined to be. Not the end but the beginning, not to knock us out but so we- get up more humble. Not to cage us, disarrange us or take the trust that we seek, but to make us trust in fully in the right things, the priority God first and everything else will follow. Filled hearts that once were hollow, dreams lost at one time now easy to follow and execute with passion that abides. With the right one on our side. Equipped with the right armor to obtain all things we seek according to His will.
On a blanket my body rest, looking into the sunset as the sand is gently laid upon my feet, and the kids are chasing those beautiful waves, as the dolphins do their tricks in the oceans obese, the sky is filled with birds all in sequence dancing in the sky, the breeze is subtle but present, soft but fierce, loving but firm. What a life to witness, a blessing to recite, a real appreciation life.

Premium Member Oceans and Seas

Through maritime miles of minions and mirth
My life is a wash for the sake of my birth
My song is the surf and my sigh is the sea
Oh what can be done for the dreamer in me

I need to be strong when I wake up at four
To bask in the dawn of a day to explore
To sail the ocean and learn it by heart
To prove my devotion with every new start

The oceans and seas are my feelings of late
The secrets they hold are the keys to my fate
The water is blue and it mimics the sky
My life is a bath and a sweet lullaby

Please say what you will about pirates and ships
But these are the reasons I pay for these trips
My booty is big and my treasure is true
What more do I need when my journey is through

The ocean is teeming with all sorts of fish
And I have been dreaming of eating this dish
The dolphins that play are a joy to behold
And whales are kind to the young and the old

The captain is crazy for treasure to dig
But he wears a patch with a debutante's wig
The lady he keeps is a cause of concern
She boils the water but can't make it burn

The ocean below is my love and my life
My notion of strength and my courage in strife
I follow the flow of her dress in the night
The wedding of water and wonder of light

The evening is still with a soft, supple breeze
And even my shipmates are sailing with ease
The fish are still flapping with joy in their flight
The way it should be for the rest of the night

The ocean is deep for the ships when they die
And though I should weep for the time that is by
The path of adventure is leading me on
My time to be cool in the heat of the dawn

The soul of the ocean is calling to me
The song of her life is a sweet melody
The lull of the surf is the calm in my day
The pull of the tide when she takes me away

A whale is with us for part of our trip
She follows the lead of our old pirate ship
The peace in my life is the quiet I need
To bury my strife in a book that I read

Somewhere in my life is a beautiful wish
To find me a wife in the net of a fish
To cover the ocean and capture the sea
And do it with love for the rapture in me.
