Comes the Dawn

The hour past midnight
as the clock taps seconds into minutes
and restless, i toss in my bed.
The sighs and moans of listless
   in seeking rest and sleep
while darkness grows in my head.
The lights of distant houses diminish
extinguished like the end of day
drawing closure and silence to its noise.
Stars twinkle and faintly dance
   as the walls draw down
around the world in nightime pause.
Gentle breezes tease and play the chimes
   into ringing clear and loud
then hushed into the quiet stillness of early morning.
Dreams rise instructive, silly and scary
   as blackness begins to fade
disappearing in the faint light of rising dawn.
It is the earth they say, that revolves
but it is we, who awake and rise
   as comes the dawn.

Premium Member A Humming Bird in My Garden

Sudden, as a bolt from the blue,
Came down a humming bird, tantalizing
Skimming down and darting up
As an ever revolving top

It reeled round and round
Before it alighted on a drooping flower;
That hung from a bending branch
In a corner of my front yard garden

It precariously clung on to it
Like a small pendent on a chain
A sight so cool, now so rare
That lighted up my dull spirits!

Once they showed themselves up
On almost every sunny day
Promptly after the monsoon rains
When the plants en mass in resplendent bloom

Oh! How I love this tiny bird
Not larger than a bumble bee
Dressed in a cloak of green and black
Flitting round on fluttering wings

It literally dances and pirouettes in the air
Before descending down closer to its target
Swirling, gliding n’ moving back and forth
As if unsure of what it should do

Finally with a terrific jerk and swiveling move
It hovers close to hanging blooms
Balancing itself sans any support
And draws out nectar with its long needle bill

When the zephyrs carry a sweet scent
It flits from flower to flower
And having enjoyed the ambrosial treat
It flies back, well satiated like a darting arrow

My eyes fail to capture its lightning move
As it goes whizzing through the lambent air
Quickly disappearing like a mote of soot
Losing itself in the vast expanse of the blue

Being less than an ounce of fat
So light, sleek and well streamlined
It travels faster than the speed of light.
In a fleeting dash, moving out of sight

Can any other bird rival it in agility?
Or vie with it in its simple grace?
How cute, this spirit of ‘disembodied joy’
This winged diminutive denizen of the sky!

Premium Member Under the dark sky of the night

Under the dark sky of the night,
where stars are born without paperwork and the moon changes its shape without notice,
I lose myself in waves of thoughts that flow like a river without banks,
In a world where every person wears their number like a star on their forehead,
where every soul has a label and a barcode,
I wonder,
where is the magic that hid behind the eyes of childhood?
In a parallel universe,
where birds fly without passports,
and flowers bloom without asking the seasons for permission,
There exists an uncomprehended freedom,
a beauty that refuses to be framed in glass boxes,
But we, civilized people,
turn our backs on these wonders,
fearing that without classification,
everything will collapse into endless chaos.
Oh, how deluded we are,
believing that our fragile thoughts keep the order of the universe in check,
As if without our identity cards,
the stars would fall from the sky and the oceans would retreat into the core of the earth,
We fear the unknown, the irregular,
everything that cannot be bounded by lines and numbers.
But in the silence of the night,
when the wind whispers ancient stories from the dawn of time,
I feel my heart beating to the rhythm of a forgotten song,
an echo of a world that was never numbered,
never framed,
And I lose myself in this stream of consciousness,
like a river flowing back to its primordial source,
unafraid of disappearing into the vastness of the unknown.
Maybe, one day,
we will learn to live without clinging to these rigid structures,
Maybe we will rediscover the magic that needs no certification,
the beauty that is born from chaos,
And then, when we let go of labels and numbers,
we will truly see the brilliance of the stars,
free and boundless like our souls.

Premium Member Soundless Thunder

Awareness ever self aware in childlike innocence looking
At both thoughts and silence appearing and disappearing
Images luminous and darkness vibrant in fleeting rotation
As spacial stillness thus cajoles and propels our attention

We having vaporised are as a mist self existent in space
Yet in as ordained slowed down vibrations we embrace
Filtered as impression & recollections through mind-body
Awareness self aware of Self discarding elements shoddy

Earth life realm a springboard upon which we descend to rise
Innate energy of Divine Love awakening us to blissful surprise
Our free will choosing to surrender ego and behold in wonder
The omnipresent omnipotent vibration of the soundless thunder

You Pushed Away the Love

I really have to speak my mind
One day you'll wake up to find
There is no on by your side
Every day you really tried
Pushing them away as you
Became more and more blue
They wanted to really be
Fixing all your misery
With kind words and crying shoulders
But as you became more older
Your attitude started getting
So angry it wasn't letting
You out of all darkened places
Screaming in loving friends faces
They slowly started disappearing
All their efforts for good caring
Was just being pushed to waste
Giving you a bitter taste
Of how they were being treated
All their efforts were defeated
As you shut down more and more
Surrounded like never before
From loneliness anger creates
Sealing your solitary fate

After All These Tears

After All These Tears
By Bernard F. Asuncion

The night begins to fade away,
disappearing into the dark;
The dusk vanishes into gray,
as the twilight starts to depart.

The raindrops now refuse to fall,
heeding not the rugged weather;
The black clouds never hear the call
of the storm brewing in the air.

The dawn savors the morning dew,
enjoying the beauty around;
The flowers show the sparkling hue
that springs from the productive ground.

The sun signals the shining light,
bringing warmth to the heart and mind;
The rays energize with their might,
as the lost strength is there to find.

The sky above aims to repel
the throes, the sorrow, and the pain;
For the world to be sound and well
because of the relief to gain.

Words fade awaY

Oceans emotionally damage me,
Yet heal me from deep within
Commotions injure me so sweetly…
Regret leaving you once again

Our words fade away
Our words fade away
Our words fade away

Dry away the tears from my eyes
Hide away the shame of our lies
Words fade and hatred festers into awful pride
Fly away the fears of our lows and highs
Boy, how time flies
Words degrade us and dread enters deep inside
When we exchange our goodbyes

Our words fade away
Our words fade away
Our words fade away

I’m devoted to a lonely state of mind
You’re an awesome find and we bind
Into this horrendous frame of heart
Heated up in here with fear, torn apart

Our words fade away
Our words fade away
Our words fade away

Our words fade today

Our words fade away
Our words fade away
Our words fade away

I pray away the pain come what may and I wish you’d be here next to me
In the month of May,
I deliver my soul from dismay
In the month of May,
I die away, then I’m alive and dive into the waters of flames that fray my body

Our words fade away

Words degrade us and dread enters deep inside, disappearing exceedingly
When we exchange our wretched goodbyes
Decaying in the ruins and deepening my rivers, running oh so rapidly
When we engage in slumberless lullabies

Our words fade away

Dry away the tears from my eyes
Hide away the shame of our lies
Words fade and hatred festers into awful pride
Fly away the fears of our lows and highs

Words fade and my heart cries
Words fade and my mind tries
To make my lips smile a little longer, longing for a passionate kiss
It makes my friendships sink below the surface, above your shallow surface

Imagine all your memories
                                                      little birds
                                         like
                        away
flying

                                                       once you awake
                             each day
disappearing
                                                                       have flown to
                         where all your memories
You wonder

You recall a movie with the title Fifty First Dates
because you saw that movie
                                              before your accident
Now you are the star of a smilar movie, which is your life -

waking up to sticky notes
reminding you of what you need
                                                                          to do each day!

Hope is on. . . . . . the horizon!

Sleep deprivation is the key to keeping memories intact.
And so you start the therapy -
                            interrupting sleep at every hour
Then interrupting it at 2-hour intervals
and ultimately building up to sleeping
for four hours of continuous beautiful sleep
but always having to cut it off right there.

Memory retention is acheived with this therapy
for the rare condition named
psychogenic amnesia.

A Million Dead Blades

Wandering into the tall grass
With shears not meant to cut
I pushed and stepped
And stepped and shoved
My direction the only thing dashed
I wandered left
And wandered right
As the weeds took over my path
They seemed to know me
As I tramped them down
I heard screaming with each
One I smashed
“It’s always the grass,
“It’s always the grass,”
One of them cried
Disappearing under my boot
“They abandoned their brothers,
“To live in the open
“Among people that cut at their roots”
I got to a clearing—the path widened out
Ahead did a tractor invade
And for the first time it hit me
For the first time it mattered
Before me,
  —lay a million dead blades
